About this property

Lakefront- Rhode Island; Indian Lake, Wakefield : 223 Indian Trail S.

Beautiful lake front location with big Alaskan Yellow Cedar deck, dock and water sports (bring a canoe or kayak, go fishing and swimming). There is a rowboat and also two kayaks for use at your own risk. Quiet area, serene and natural. NOTE: Contact me/Inquire for more reservation info is recommended or try on VRBO.com portal and Credit Card path. No access to homeowner's Assn. beach, but swimming and boating, fishing and wading off dock with shallow water. Also wade in from boat ramp access area. 5 minutes to perfect beaches of Narragansett, 20 minutes from Newport, RI. Easy trip to family fun, or relaxation on the lake. Quick access to Block Island Ferry, Lobsters, fishing charter and great golf, wine country, casinos, zoo, family attractions, Providence, great restaurants. NOTE: There is a Private Beach for the Homeowners up the road but RENTERS NOT allowed access at that area. Most lake users swim out from dock, wade in at boat ramp (200 feet away) or use rowboat access (at own risk and subject to proper boat use and ordinances). Lake is shallow..no diving. Bring proper life vests for all users/swimmers; many guests bring their own kayaks, etc. Prime Summer weeks of 2024 will be $2400/wk. Contact/Inquire me for rate info. As of FEB 2024 the cleaning fee per stay is $125. Add $150 if bringing pet for steam clean fee.
Sleeps 8 easily. Most extra guests prefer inflatable mattresses (provided, self-inflating).

NO Smoking

Most guests would say you'd need a light sweater in evenings rather than A/C because of the valley and cool lake breezes.

If you'd like to reserve you may go to the VRBO payment system or Inquire to me directly and I will explain the rates and fees.

NOTE: first, last weeks of Summer season often discounted to $1850 or as noted in calendar.

There is a rowboat available for use by adults only, which is Strictly and fully at the renter's risk! Two kayaks (singles) for your use but the owner takes absolutely no responsibility for boat(s) use. Use caution and abide by all safety matters (life vests for each user, etc.) The renter takes ALL responsibility of use and observation of state law for safe and proper boating. NO Lake access or boat use after dark.

NOT A PARTY HOUSE: No groups of under age 21... a parent or guardian must be on site with each group each night. Strictly enforced: any variance will violate the lease. NO LARGE GROUPS of unrelated guests.

Reviews from other guests are exemplary. Clean and comfortable house with convenience in location and accommodation. All weeks taken last year - many are returning this year.

Swimming and boating in lake is permitted but no use of Homeowners beach (Private) is permitted. Homeowners beach is on Indian Trail South across from playing fields and playground area.

Best of Both Worlds
This lake house has all the amenities needed to have a great week or weekend. Minutes from Rhode Island beaches, this lake house has a canoe and kayaks available for use. Bert, who lives next door, was a wonderful host and is super friendly and personable. We hope to stay here again in the future and recommend this home to everyone!

Great location on a peaceful lake
You can’t beat the location in this quiet and very pretty neighborhood. The lake view was lovely and peaceful. We liked that we could walk our dog in the boat launch area that was next door. Easy to get to all the local hot spots from this area. We loved that Dave’s market was so close by! Bert was accommodating and easy to work with. Thank you for having us!

2023 August 2 week vacation
Wow, what a location! Access to the pond was just wonderful! We used the kayaks several times and even took the doggie in the row boat. Pinched myself every morning on how beautiful the lake view, lush vegetation, quiet, and just all-around calm of the day we experienced. The house had everything. Went on many bike trail rides, visited estate sales, and even tried the Rail Explorers! Cooked most meals because the house had everything! Took family to nearby TAJ and Sa-Tang restaurants - delicious. Bert was a very friendly, responsive, and respectful host. We look forward to a future return!

Beautiful private lake
We loved our constant view of the lake and ability to fish and kayak from morning until night. The inside of the house was better than the pictures show. The exterior was more rustic than the pictures with knee high grass, construction zone and very dirty grill. The boat launch adjacent was rarely used and felt like our own private fishing zone. We loved the location halfway between Scarborough and Newport. If Bert had replaced the 2 broken fans as requested this review would have been an allstar . vacation.

Great Location & Great Stay
Stayed here for a weekend with my girlfriend and our dog. Loved the secluded quiet location right on the lake, yet still just a 5-10 minute drive from most things in Narragansett & ~20-25 from Newport. Bert stopped by our first day there to welcome us and to let us know that if we needed anything he'd be there to help. Dock access was a bit rocky to get out to swim but the boat launch is right next door. Nice quiet area if you are bringing your pet. Kayak and paddle boat provided to take out on the lake even though we were so busy trying out some of the the delicious restaurants in the area that we didn't even have time to take them out! Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again!

Family Reunion
The house was very welcoming. Location great…private! Beautiful area to walk safely. Went to Blue Shutters Beach bring an umbrella and chairs. Plenty of towels. We made S’more‘s in fire pit. Kids loved the hammock and a tv in their room. Plenty of shopping, movies etc. Regretted food shopping at home, packing, loading and overbuying. S&S nearby. Spent a day in Mystic. Felt the lake access too rocky to swim but used the boat and Kayaks. The lake to extremely quiet! Boat launch convenient The owner is nearby and accommodating. 4th bedroom had a loveseat or air mattress. We opted to empty the dehumidifier daily. Suggest bringing your sheets to launder at home and save time closing house. Some spices, detergent, dish and dishwasher soaps, storage food containers, paper products, cable, internet, stereo, central air and fans. Glad we decided not to bring our Black Lab, he couldn’t run loose and we didn’t need to worry about being on his schedule. The property met our needs. Highly recommend. Best wishes

Perfect location on an amazing lake
We've been doing end of summer trips to RI for the past few years and this house was probably one of the best. Easy access to beaches and the Lake was absolutely beautiful. The main floor of the house has a wide open space for everyone to hang out in and the rooms are all comfortable spaces. Lastly, the owner of the house is one of the nicest, and accommodating, hosts that I've ever encountered!

Beautiful house on Indian Lake
Our family had a wonderful time staying at the house on Indian Lake. Such a beautiful view from the back deck- great place to start your morning or enjoy a meal outside. The house is in a cute little neighborhood right off Route 1, and only a short drive away to Narragansett beaches, Wakefield and other small coastal towns. The dock is a great spot to launch kayaks or the rowboat, but a bit too shallow/rocky to swim off. We went next door to the public boat launch and swam out from there. The owner, Bert, lives next door and was super helpful, checking in with us and was quick to respond when we had a few minor issues come up over the week. We were so busy visiting family and friends (there’s so much to do in the area!) that we wish we’d had more time to relax by the lake. It was a very quiet and peaceful spot, would definitely recommend!

Beautiful! A great house on an exceptional Lake!
We loved the house and the location. The home is comfortable and set back away from the typical hustle and bustle of summer vacationers. Nevertheless, All the area beaches are within a 10 to 15 minute, easy drive A private setting on and absolutely gorgeous lake. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The rowboat was a well used accompaniment by my son-in-law (an avid fisherman) along with my twin 8 year old granddaughters who he was able to teach how to fish on the lake. It was a wonderful sight to see them out there together. Bert was a great host and he was always available with questions and concerns, of which there were few. The house and yard is well maintained and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. We walked our two dogs every day and met many neighbors who were all very friendly. It is also a great place to safely ride bikes. A perfect place for a family getaway! I highly recommend this property.

Amazing week
We had a wonderful week-the weather was picture perfect but the location just as incredible. Every morning I had my coffee on the beautiful deck and every afternoon, we sat at the end of the dock for a glass of wine. I am a beach girl so being only 15 mins from the beach was perfect for me. I am also a cyclist and went for bike rides almost every morning that were spectacular--I found a way to get to Narragansett by riding on Rte 1A instead of the busy Rte 1. Bert is the owner and was so helpful. He was incredibly approachable and willing to help with whatever was needed. We went fishing right from the rowboat that had been provided and also went on the lake in a kayak. The House is very comfortable and with the hot temperatures this week, the built in air conditioner in the main room was very much appreciated. We will be coming back again!

Peaceful sanctuary
We were looking for a safe place to social distance while enjoying the beauty of New England. This was the perfect place. Coffee on the dock every morning with only the sound of birds & fish jumping! Afternoon naps in the hammock & floating in the lake. Everything you need is a short drive away. The beds are comfortable & the kitchen has all you need. We’d love to come back if available. No surprise it’s fully rented !

This was our first time on Indian Lake and it was great.
The house has all the amenities that you could need for a week on the lake. Bert, the owner, was very accommodating and friendly. While I was initially concerned with the property abutting the boat launch, it was quickly dissolved. For the amount of vehicles there at any given time, you would never know it. I guess fishermen are quiet by nature and we were never disturbed. It was a perfect week for entertaining guests, relaxing, and enjoying the location. Unbeknownst to us, it was also the last vacation we would have with our beloved dog who crossed the rainbow bridge a few days after our return. We are so happy that we were able to have her with us for this week. I would definitely recommend this property. Thank you Bert.

Wonderful family getaway
We had the best vacation week at this house! The home is great and was perfect for our group of seven - plus our dog :) The lake is great and we had a blast fishing and floating. The beaches are a short drive away. The owner is friendly and helpful. My five year old cried as we drove away! We highly recommend!

We purchased the home in 2008 from our neighbor. It was fully renovated from the sticks out...all windows, carpets, doors and fixtures completely renovated. It is a full time rental house and is used by URI students in the Academic year. Our family (we have 2 kids) has lived on Indian Lake since 1998. I lived on Indian Lake during Grad School.

Why they chose this property

Great location on lake, nearby to beautiful South County beaches, dining and Newport only 15 miles; Clean, comfortable and quiet, the house sits on a private road on the lakefront. Easy access for travelers with ambulatory trouble or elderly.

What makes this property unique

Lakefront getaway but note quiet rules: no music or loud noise outside of house after 9 pm.

Use of clean, pure lake and quick trip to any of South County's famous beaches minutes away. Newport, America's first resort, is 20 minutes over beautiful Newport Bridge. Take time to see Jamestown, state parks, hiking and walking with birding, golf and tennis.
