About the host
Hosted by Wendy Albers Scofield

We are the Scofields, Patrick, Wendy and Christian. Patrick is originally from Hibbing, Minnesota and has been coming to BWCA, camping and fishing with his family since he was 3. I am from Napa California. Patrick and I met when he moved to Napa for his career. Patrick introduced me to the BWCA. I fell in love, with the wilderness, the thrill of adventure and the man by my side. I can still remember looking for miles and miles over the water, seeing nothing but water and forest, thinking mine-mine-mine. I could pretend it was all ours because there wasn’t another boat or person insight for days at a time. Tenting in Santa Cruz, California is beautiful, but crowed with as many people as trees. The BWCA isn’t that. Christian our 16 year old son starting coming to the BWCA even in the womb, and by snowmobile for his first trip at 3 months old!
In 2002 we purchased the business Loon Falls Portage and in 2011 sold it in order to purchase Beatty Railroad Portage Company. We have been spending our summers in this area for the last 30 years.

Why they chose this property
We have been coming to the BWCA for over 30 years. In fact, we have stayed at the cabins about 18 years ago, renting out several of the cabins for our entire family to have a week together. When Loon Lake Waterfall Cabins came up for sale we recognized it was a rare opportunity to own shore land on beautiful Loon Lake. This camp ties in beautifully with our desire to see new and old generations discover the healing that comes with experiencing nature up close and personal.
What makes this property unique
Rustic Restoration is new to me, honestly, I haven't spent enough time in it yet to tell you of my favorite feature. I am attracted to the coziness. I can imagine two fishing buddies staying there. I know that it is the oldest building on site and has the straightest footpath to the docks. Perfect for the fishermen who wants no fuss and don't you dare get between him and his fishing boat. The front deck holds the key to perfect sunset viewing.
