Updated and charming cottage RIGHT ON THE BEACH where you can sunbathe, swim, snorkel, collect shells and sharks' teeth, and fish. Spectacular 180 degree exposure to the Gulf of America. Turtles and Toes is a peaceful and relaxing refuge that will refresh your mind and soul.
Sleep and wake to the soothing sounds of the surf. Walk or jog the 16 miles of the sandy key. Be endlessly entertained by shore birds, pelicans, dolphins, turtles and tortoises, all right at your doorstep. Go shell or sharks' teeth hunting or kayaking, fly a kite, fish, or just chill out and be mesmerized by the emerald water. And you'll be amazed by the gorgeous sunsets followed by a star show that dips all the way into the sea.
You'll find a wall-mounted 52" flat screen TV, Sonos, Wi-Fi, and a sleek, well-supplied kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and a beautiful walnut island. The expansive patio has a table and chairs as well as many chairs and umbrellas for the beach.
With health safety in mind, you may check in and check out independently, letting us know when you do each. Being the actual owners, we are available if needed!
We have very high cleanliness standards, disinfecting everything with the appropriate products. The bed coverings and towels are washed in high temperature water.
We call this little hideaway "Turtles and Toes." It is over the North Key drawbridge to Manasota Key and down a private lane. Isolated, yet it is near shopping, 15 golf courses, restaurants, and the many amenities and events that Venice and Englewood have to offer.

Swimming with the dolphins

We had a wonderful time at Turtles and Toes. The cottage was very comfortable. The sunsets were amazing and on many days during our stay the Gulf was as smooth as glass. We were delighted to see dolphins, several within 7 feet of the beach. When I was swimming, one day, one swam within 9 feet of me. Shark teeth are in abundance on the beach directly in front of the cottage. The beach was never very busy. We would definitely recommend this location. FYI I highly recommend Farlow’s on the water. Great food, beautiful patio, and great service.

A dream week away!

Our stay at turtles and toes for the second year has not disappointed once again !The location is amazing. Communication with the hosts was prompt. Overall, it is exactly how it’s described. Looking forward to returning next year.

Turtles and Toes

My husband and I loved our stay at turtles and toes! We booked this place after reading other guest reviews about how private the beach is. After our own stay we can definitely confirm this! My husband and I were set up on the beach all week and had the whole beach to ourselves. We also found TONS of sharks teeth so if you enjoy shark tooth hunting definitely book turtles and toes! We also saw the dolphins, a manatee in the ocean, and Rowdy the turtle! Overall, the house was perfect for the two of us, was very clean, and had everything we needed for the week! Would definitely recommend turtles and toes!!

Beautiful Views and Amazing Beach

This place was just what we needed to relax and unwind. We had breakfast on the porch every morning and drinks in the evenings as we watched the sun go down. Moochie came to visit a couple of times. We also saw him on the beach hanging out with the fishermen. The water was warm and perfect for swimming. There was a light breeze making it just right to sit on the beach and soak in the sun. We also took advantage of the provided information and supplies and tried our hand at shark tooth hunting. We found literally hundreds of them to take back to the grandkids. Donna was friendly and kept us well informed! Check in was easy. We had an amazing time and hope to get a chance to go back soon!

Great secluded property

Just what we were looking for to get away from all the hustle. Very private house loaded directly on the beach, beautiful sunsets. This is our second time stating here which means we like a bunch. Everything we need to getaway and relax.

Cute Cottage with an Ocean View!!

If you are looking for a place to recharge and relax this is the place for you. Just spent 7 days at Turtles and Toes located on Manasota Key right on the beach. Incredible view from the deck where we spent a lot of time reading and enjoying the view of the water. Very peaceful and quiet area. Cottage has been remodeled and comes with everything to make your stay enjoyable. Stores, restaurants and shopping are near by. Donna, the owner lives near by and is willing to help if need be. We had a wonderful time and will be back!

Great oceanfront getaway

This is our third visit with a fourth planned in early 2025. This rental is very clean and has all the amenities you will need for a relaxing get away. The location is great too. The beach is just steps away from the deck and the sunsets are wonderful. There are plenty of good restaurants just a short drive away too. The owners are communicative and responsive.

Tranquil Pre-Christmas Escape

What an amazing cottage! It is exactly as described. Outside pictures depict an older small cottage but the inside has been updated and is very cozy. There are other houses and cottages around it but everything makes it feel as if you have the beach completely to yourself. There aren't any high rises or public beach accesses so it's definitely not crowded and loud. We were there the week leading up to Christmas so I'm not sure if that was a factor. Upon stepping out on the porch, you feel you are on the beach...you couldn't be any closer. The sunsets are spectacular and you don't have to leave the premises! This is advertised as sleeping 4 but be aware that is 2 queens in the 1 bedroom so I would recommend this as a couple get away or a family with 2 small children or even a solo traveler wanting some tranquil time. It was the perfect location for us!

Location, Location, Location

We really enjoyed our stay at Turtles and Toes! It's a nice cottage in a prime, quiet location. The owners clearly care about the quality of your stay and it shows. The cottage itself is cozy and was perfect for the two of us. The finishes have been updated nicely. We will definitely stay there again!

We had a great stay. The cottage is in a super location and very quiet surroundings. The cottage was extremely clean and very well-maintained, and had everything you needed. We would definitely stay there again, and would recommend it to others without hesitation.

Hidden and lovely

A perfect location for us to visit family and unplug next to the Gulf. Collecting shells and shark teeth was a plus. Wonderful opportunities for photos.The location is amazing. Donna is a terrific host. We hope to see the tortoise on the next visit!

If we could give this more than 5 stars, we absolutely would!

While you would think, driving in, that you won't have privacy, you would be wrong. This is the most amazing piece of paradise we have ever stayed at. Before we even got to the front door, we were entranced by the view! The cottage is so cozy and welcoming and absolutely PERFECT! Almost anything you would need for a perfect beach trip is in this place somewhere. For our first Gulf of Mexico vacation-- we couldn't ask for a more perfect place. Each morning, we walked the short way to the beach and each morning there were more and more markers for turtle nests! We saw birds, a stingray, and A MANATEE SWAM UP TO US! (Admittedly we freaked out at first, but a manatee!!!) We watched dolphins at sundown one evening, and so many lizards! I'll admit, my wife cried when it was time to go. I cannot recommend Turtle and Toes enough, and I certainly can't wait to go back!

It was absolutely amazing! The cottage was clean. It had everything we needed. The host were very accommodating. There are neighbors, but you really don’t even know it because you’re sit back by yourself. The location is fabulous! We cannot wait to go again. It was a vacation much needed, and turtles and toes provided everything. !!!

We moved permanently to Sarasota County in 2018 from Ohio after spending 5 winters here. This cottage on the beach is simply paradise and it gives us great pleasure to share it with our guests. The check in and check out procedures are contact free for the safety of us all. We'd love to hear a bit of your story too.

Why they chose this property

Turtles and Toes caught our eye because of its spectacular location. Then we discovered the delightful and comfortable interior of the cottage and it was irresistible. And so with a bit of work we now have a beautiful place to occupy ourselves and to share with others who we hope will appreciate the relaxing ambience and make lasting memories here.

What makes this property unique

A major benefit of course is being on the beach. At the same time, it is very close to many opportunities for sports, dining, shopping and sightseeing. Guests can take advantage of the many local attractions or, if they choose, remain sequestered at the cottage. Just about every evening you'll be treated to an awesome sunset.
The wildlife on the beach and in the water is endlessly entertaining.
