The Gîte de Mary is a peaceful place in the ornate bocage, nestled in the heart of green meadows crisscrossed by hollow paths bordered by hedges, woods and ponds which make the charm of this territory.
Located in Lower Normandy, about 20 km from Alençon, Argentan and Bagnoles de l'Orne, within the Normandy Maine Natural Park, headquartered in Carrouges, the residence "a farmhouse longère" from the end of the 18th century, was tastefully restored in 2010, respecting local traditions.
Mary, the owner of the gîte, offers you, outside the framework, quality facilities and services, her private swimming pool and the possibility for a couple to sleep in her small wooden chalet.
Facing south-west with views of the surrounding countryside, it has a terrace with its garden furniture and a barbecue, a carport, a playground behind the house which is located on the edge of the little Monthard wood.
The owner of Mary's gîte welcomes you all year round for all your stays.
To see: the Ecouves forest, the Carrouges castle, the Conte gardens, Alençon and its lace, its conservatory orchard, Bagnoles de l'Orne, the Villiers gorges, the Haras du Pin, the Montormel memorial, etc. ...

PROPRIETAIRE ACCUEILLANTE ET SOURIANTE, MAIS PROBLÈME DE PROPRETÉ
La propriétaire nous a accueilli avec gentillesse dans son logement très spacieux, plutôt que prévu à notre demande, car nous devions nous changer pour une cérémonie. Elle m'avait prévenu qu'elle n'aurait pas le temps de finir le ménage. Je ne pensais pas me plaindre, mais nous avons constaté que le ménage n'a pas été fait depuis bien longtemps, et ce n'est pas un manque de 4 heures qui aurait changé grand chose. Les draps d'un lit n'ont pas été changé, poils trouvés sur le drap housse limé, le siphon de la baignoire était rempli de poils et cheveux moisis, la poubelle de salle de bain n'a pas été changée, protège slip dedans, toiles d'araignées dans les chambres aux fenêtres, micro- ondes sale. Tapis de salle de bain vieux et sales. Force est de constater que le problème de propreté revient sur plusieurs commentaires concernant ce logement. Une prise de conscience serait bienvenue pour l'accueil des futures hôtes.

What an idyllic place to stay at. Mary is a very interesting lady who is a published author. A very knowledgeable and hospitable lady who cannot do enough for you. Her English was certainly better than my French! Eggs regularly left for us, then homemade jam and some homegrown courgettes. We were very well looked after. The local farmers wife even brought fresh milk to us on our first morning. The location is peaceful and very much in the countryside. Carrouges and Saint Martins are not far away and it's only about 30 minutes to Lidl or other supermarkets. The Gite is very accommodating and suited the 10 of us very well. Not sure how I would cope with more people but it is doable. The property is work in progress so please do not go expecting the Hilton! It is a typically French country property that is being renovated. There is a fantastically sized dining room and a lot of outdoor space in which to socialise and dine in also. We found all the facilities more than adequate for our needs and there was never an issue with using the bathrooms and number of showers available. Only negative points were that the beds were harder and smaller than we were used to and not enough storage for clothes in some of the rooms. This is of course very subjective. The pool was a delight and Mary's granddaughters made our children feel very welcome. Our stay at Mary's was exactly what the Doctor ordered, relaxing and peaceful. Thank you Mary for a wonderful stay. Would like to return once completed.

Nous avons passé quelques jours dans le gite avec plusieurs amis. L'hôte est très agréable. Les lits sont faits à l'arrivée ce qui est appréciable. Nous n'avons malheureusement pas pu beaucoup profiter de la piscine et des espaces extérieures compte tenu de la météo. Merci pour l'accueil.

Immertion calme et nature
Accueil chaleureux. Le gîte dispose d'une excellente literie. Même si la décoration n'est pas à notre goût, nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cadre très propre et agréable. On y est très à l'aise. L'espace barbecue est un prolongement bien pensé. Merci Mary.

Hôte accessible, gentille, avenante et prêtea rendre service quand elle le peut. Literie confortable ,Linge de lit propre.Le temps n'etait pas avec nous donc nous n'avons pas utiliser la piscine. Le barbecue abrité sous un bar est une excellente idée, et le petit salon exterieur abrité également est fort appréciable même par temps de pluie. La maison est suffisamment grande pour que personne ne se marche dessus (nous étions 10 personnes accompagnés par 1 petit chien). Seuls bémols, le ménage a l'arrivée que nous avons refait entièrement (dommage vu le prix du ménage lors de la location) ainsi que la baignoire de la salle de bain à l'étage peu pratique pour se laver car se trouve au niveau d'une sous pente de toit, mais il reste la grande douche au rez-de-chaussée. Certaine pièces de la maison sont a rafraichir ainsi que le canapé et le fauteuil du salon qui sont en mauvaise état, ce que la propriétaire courageuse ( car elle fait tout elle même) fera certainement dès qu'elle le pourra.

Séjour agréable
Mary est très accueillante et disponible étant donné qu'elle habite dans le logement collé à celui loué. Le gîte est agréable et situé en plein milieu de la nature. C'est cependant dommage que certains éléments manquaient (comme le produit vaisselle et les pastilles pour le lave vaisselle).

Lovely gite. a friendly owner who lives on site. even gave us some free eggs from her chickens. sadly pool was cold but as we stayed at begging of the season thats to be expected.
