Beautiful land/lake, house needs work to warrant price

The land and lake this property is on is beautiful. This is what made our stay special. I hate to leave bad reviews but the house itself was not in a state of repair equal to what they are charging for the rental. We dealt with a level of mouse infestation that was very intense (cleaning surfaces etc. over twice a day, mice getting into everything despite our best efforts, mice roaming around the house in front of our eyes). The place was not very clean (we had to do a bunch of cleaning ourselves to feel comfortable). Two bedroom doors and a bathroom door didn't close all the way, so privacy was not possible in these rooms, including the main bedroom. There was a giant hole in the sunroom that we had to plug so that animals didn't get in. We felt disappointed to pay so much and have the state of the place be so poor. The owners gave us a 7.5% refund for our troubles which we did not feel was adequate to the discomfort and unsanitariness we experienced. We tried to reach out to them to negotiate around this and they haven't responded to three attempts to get in touch over the course of a week and a half. If the house was in better condition we would definitely want to come back. The owners were friendly, despite all this.

Excellent location - house needs work

Beautiful, and I mean really beautiful, location. Fabulous views with lots of privacy. The access to the water (dock) was about 200 yards away but was lovely to sit on. Part of this VRBO was an A++ and other parts a fail. House was advertised as 4 bedrooms but one of the bedrooms was the corridor to the bathroom for another bedroom so would not work for other than children to sleep in. We were all adults. Communicastions with the property manager was poor prior to our arrival but excellent after we got there. House was not cleaned prior to arrival and had not been checked to see if everything was OK. Mouse droppings everywhere and the dishes had to be washed prior to use. No internet for a couple of days but the owner allowed us to use the other rental property next door so it worked out. Linens on the beds were great and there were lots of towels. Upstairs shower had inadequate water pressure to use but the toilet and sink worked.

Private Lake Front Cottage

Our family of five enjoyed a week of relaxation, swimming and boating interspersed with our three mountain hikes. The house was perfect for our needs; cooking, private spots for everyone and good sleep. Many thanks to our hosts who were generous and respectful.

Peaceful and relaxing

The house is charming and full of character--a real old fashioned lake house, As others have noted, very private and quiet. The porch is lovely for relaxing, and the tennis court is in excellent condition. The dock is a bit of a walk, and the two water access points for swimming closer to the house require some agility to scramble down rocks to the water. Overall a very nice stay.

Beautiful Property

The historical home is a great place for a family to enjoy Lake Champlain. The property is spectacular. The tennis court, dock and lake access are shared with the property owners and their family. Accommodations are a classic old Adirondack style camp.

Beautiful property!

This rustic farm house was very private with beach and dock access to beautiful Lake Champlain. Our family enjoyed swimming, kayaking, fishing, and playing tennis. The views of the lake were amazing! We brought a portable grill and cooked outside most of the time to enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful lakeside property

Beautiful secluded cabin on a lakefront farm with access to the lake, tennis and boating. Area hiking and exploring are good. Come stocked with food, drinks and supplies for cooking, nearby shopping is limited.

Great Property, Glorious Views

We had a wonderful time kayaking, playing tennis, hiking nearby, buying strawberries from the nearby farm, and most of all sitting on the deck for every meal (yes, rain or shine!) to bask in the glorious view of the lake. The house is charming, really big, and we'll stocked for a family. Highly recommended!
