A large 2 bedroom apartment in an 18th century building in the centre of a delightful town
My wife and I had a simply perfect 10 day stay in this lovely apartment. Stefania and her mother do a truly professional service with every little thing thought of and provided, and immediate assistance offered when needed. Some might consider the bathroom compact, but then this was not a consideration when this amazing building was constructed a few hundred years ago, and the other rooms and furnishings are entirely in keeping with making us feel like the baron and baroness in our own palazzo. In addition, it is bang in the centre of Scicli with all restaurants shops and bars within yards. The real joy was that there were virtually no foreign tourists except us even though we were there in July/August, and so we could just enjoy this beautiful town in its natural state. Sicilians are polite, friendly, helpful and utterly charming!

A nice place to stay in a beautiful town
Scicli is a beautiful place to stay. There are plenty of facilities and attractions for tourists but it definitely does not feel like a tourist town. There are some great restaurants, several supermarkets, and for Montalbano fans, some great locations to visit.
The apartment is in a very useful location relative to all of these things, in between Via S Teresa on one side (where the Montalbano locations are found) and Piazza Italia on the other. The bus station is at the end of the road, with connections to Ragusa, Catania Airport, Donnelucata for those looking for the beach, etc.
The apartment itself is very nice. Two large bedrooms, one with a door out to the balcony. A long thin kitchen diner area, also with a door out to the balcony. The kitchen itself is a small hob and a sink - basic but enough to cook simple meals. All rooms have good air conditioning. Access is off a small side street.
The one drawback in terms of location is the building opposite. By day (at the time of review) it is a building site, with loud noise starting at 7am each weekday. In the evening the ground floor is used as some sort of youth / cultural centre, meaning there are people sitting outside, and quite a lot of noise continuing late into the night. It means the balcony is not somewhere where you can relax in peace and quiet. The building work won't last forever so hopefully part of this issue will disappear in future.
Overall I would certainly recommend this apartment as a great base for anybody wishing to visit Scicli, and I would definitely recommend Scicli as a superb place to visit.

vacanza barocca in splendida abitazione
Proprietaria molto disponibile, gentile e pronta a soddisfare ogni nostra richiesta.

Sicily has an age-old history. A history where Greeks and Romas, Arabs and Spaniards and various other peoples have all left their mark. Signs that will enchant you and take your breath away. There's another holiday, in Sicily. No place for clichès.
