About this property

A creek runs through it

Lovely pet-friendly log guest home on 100 acres. Relax on the deck while watching wildlife or listening to the aspens and the creek. Our three bedroom, two bath home features a master suite with queen bed and private bathroom with a double cedar shower. The second large queen bedroom has an expansive library and leather easy chair for private reading area, the third bedroom has two sets of bunk beds and a full-sized futon. .The shared bathroom has a large tub and shower. All three bedrooms have blackout curtains for restful sleeping or nap time.
The fully equipped kitchen has new gas range, microwave, dishwasher and ample pantry in addition to laundry facilities. There is a large gas BBQ on a rear deck.
The property is located on a dead-end road in the Battle Ridge area of the Bridger Mountains. It is located six miles from Bridger Bowl ski area known for its "cold smoke" powder skiing, and the Cross-Cut Ranch Nordic Center. All wheel or 4wheel drive is recommended for winter guests. Since most of the ski traffic comes from Bozeman guests will have an easy commute to Bridger Bowl.
A picnic area along the creek is available for the enjoyment of our guests. It features a gas BBQ and seating along the creek, as well as two large picnic tables. It is a lovely place to unwind after a day of sight-seeing or hiking.
The area has an abundance of wildlife including deer, elk, moose, bear, wild turkeys, coyotes and foxes. Guests have reported seeing wolverine when hiking in the Bridger Mountains near Fairy Lake, a short distance from the "cabin".

Beautiful setting
The location was perfect for our trip. We were close to Bridger bowl for an event. Enjoyed watching the Elk in the field in front of this home. The home offered everything we needed for our getaway.

Amazing Place
We loved our time at this awesome retreat. Nestled between the Bridger Range and the Crazy Mountains, you won’t find a more beautiful place. The solitude and beauty are far beyond the pictures, yet it’s just a short drive to Bozeman. You’ll look forward to the drive! The hosts Sally and Paul were wonderful. We especially enjoyed walking with our dogs throughout the hundred acres along the creek side. We would wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Great trip!
Property was great, especially for being away at Xmas time! Owners were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for a Xmas tree! Very close to Bridger for skiing and some great trails for walking pets or touring on.

Great little hide away in the mountains!
This is a nice little log house in the mountains. The hosts are very nice and the property is taken care of. This is an older home with a few updates. Its very clean but not updated. Its what we expected from the pictures so there where no surprises. I would caution you though, if a good storm would have rolled in a dumped serious snow, getting up the gravel road to the house and the main driveway to the house could be a challenge with only front wheel drive. We had a few inches and it was manageable. I know the hosts would do all they could to get you up the driveway. I love the quiet location... and proximity to Bridger Ski area. 10 minutes!!!

What an amazing location to stay. Our hosts were super responsive and available. Internet was available since there is no cell signal which is a blessing in itself. We will be back again.

The cabin is so homey and comfortable! It is secluded yet Yellowstone is still doable as a day trip. The owners have equipped the cabin with everything you need. We all loved staying there

Montana getaway
Went to Montana to enjoy the solitude and go to Yellowstone while there. spent a lot of time in Yellowstone, weather was iffy , lots of rain but usually for only part of day, did not get to enjoy creek , did attempt one day but it was occupied. Saw elk in field across from us daily , just a lone male, saw deer daily and hunting Fox. Quiet area did have the local neighbors dog visit , our dog does not get along with others but not too big of issue .Home clean ,area behind home where grill is located small and not really a good place to hang out ,front porch fit that bill. Beautiful area, need a 4 wheel vehicle for road to home esp during recent rains .Local grocery suggested really quaint .Enjoyed stay 🙂

Wonderful, quiet stay
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin, which was clean and well taken care of. The setting in the country is quiet and serene with amazing views. We loved sitting on the porch in the evenings watching the beautiful sunsets and the deer. During the day we explored Bozeman and several hiking trails not far from the cabin.

Family jaunt
We had a lovely time. House is quaint but clean. Neighbor dogs visited a few times but were friendly. A bit farther from town than I realized but several trails located nearby. Lovely sightings of deer, elk and sandhill cranes.

Graduation week in Bridger Mountains
This house was a perfect fit for our extended family, gathering to celebrate our son’s graduation from MSU. Fit seven adults comfortably. Was fat enough away from downtown to feel remote, yet close enough to allow for quick trips into town as needed. Lots of games on hand to allow for fun on a rainy evening! Thanks to Sally for being so accommodating and allowing us to spend a wonderful several days in the beautiful mountains of Montana!

Very nice
Clean, cozy, and quiet. We enjoyed our stay here and would rent again if we ski Bridger Bowl again. The location is private and relaxing. I do recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle if you rent when the snow is melting as the road had quite a bit of slush (our front-wheel drive minivan would not have made it up the road) - but these conditions are expected in rural areas. All appliances worked. We skied Bridger Bowl and would recommend for a ski trip. The house is north of Bridge Bowl so you don't need to content with any traffic coming from Bozeman.

Clean, quiet, comfortable
We slept well, the owners were responsive and respectful, the cabin clean and comfortable, the showers hot, kitchen well-appointed, and the road plowed even in a snowstorm. It's clear that they care about their guests' safety and comfort. WiFi is a bit unreliable, but that's to be expected in a rural setting during a major snowstorm. Highly recommend!

Great in Every Way!
I rented the VRBO on Horse Creek so my entire family could be together for Christmas. My daughter and family and son and family stayed there. The rest of the family stayed in our home just a mile away. Everything about the property was great; the location, the bedrooms and bathrooms, the kitchen, diningroom and livingroom. My family enjoyed everything about their stay.

Once again our visit to Sally and Paul’s was way to short . We truly enjoy living, exploring and simply listening and breathing at their oasis in Bozeman. All our needs are covered in their well-equipped home, and Sally is always available. It really is a treasure.

About the host

Host profile image
The owners have operated a ranch on this 100 acre property since 1983. Now retired the "guest house" is available for memorable family vacations and quiet get-aways. The owners live in the main house down the road. While available if needed our philosophy is to allow our guests their privacy. .

Why they chose this property

There is a magic about this area that needs to be experienced. Returning guests tell us there is just nothing like it. Getting up early to watch the sunrise, hear the birds, and maybe watch a mother deer with her fawn or an elk and a calf is an experience not soon forgotten. The air is clean and crisp. The quiet is amazing. The creek provides a great retreat in the warm of the day and sitting next to the water will provide relaxation and peace that is not easy to find.
