About this property
Luxury Studio in Secure Atitlan Complex
This is a very attractive second floor studio inside a fieldstone walled, spa-type complex. The complex has its own hot soak tub, gym, sauna, medicinal/culinary plant garden, and massage room. These are offered as amenities at no charge to guests. The studio has a completely equipped kitchen area, fireplace, queen bed, & a private porch which overlooks the complex's central garden. It also has cable TV and fiber-optic internet to the unit. We are located in a friendly neighborhood on the outskirts of Panajachel; a 15 -20 minute walk from town center and just a little bit farther from a good swimming beach. It is three blocks from a supermarket and next door to a small family-run grocery store. There are other nearby stores and restaurants. We offer special economic weekly & incredibly priced monthly rates.

I'm originally from New Jersey, USA. I'm married with three sons. I am a perennial student: a graduate of Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, Army Command & General Staff College, The National Defense University, and University of Arizona. I hold an undergraduate degree in Sociology and graduate degrees in Education and Latin American Studies. I retired in 1988 from 24 years of military service in U.S., Europe, Asia. During this career, I served in Infantry units and taught in both military and civil schools, to include at Rutgers and Seton Hall universities. I have lived at Lake Atitlan since 1999. I am a fitness trainer and exercise nut. I am the published author of numerous books and articles on military subjects, education, and the contemporary culture and history of Guatemala and Mexico (pen name Richard Morgan Szybist). Three of my books form the "Lake Atitlan Trilogy."
Why they chose this property
It is conveniently located between downtown and swimming beaches in a friendly, family neighborhood. Its surrounding gated wall provides privacy and extra security. It has all the modern conveniences for rest and work. Its medicinal and culinary plant garden is accessible to guests.
What makes this property unique
The lodge is also a cultural center. I make myself available, as a courtesy to my guests, to enable direct contact with Mayan artisans, artists and shamans. I also provide free counseling on diet and exercise.
