4 BR Beachfront Lake Huron
4 day minimum after Labor Day
A charming seasonal knotty pine cottage on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron. You will be immediately taken in by the charm of the vintage knotty pine interior and the cut fieldstone fireplace with it's heart shaped center stone. Then you will fall in love with the view out the large picture window. Your very own sandy beach will beckon the young and old alike. Swim in the sandy bottom lake which is shallow for a long way out perfect for kids. Build sand castles, enjoy a campfire, or sit under an umbrella with a cool drink. Sandy yard is the perfect spot for yard games so bring the bocce balls or pull the corn hole set from the shed. Though it is long on charm this old girl has a few quirks that come with age The floor is not quite level in spots some of the doors don't close completely. Despite these things it is quite comfortable. If those little quirks won't bother you there is a lot of fun to be had and family memories to be made.

This was an affordable option for our family to spend time together on the lake. We had room to spread out on our rain day and relax inside and the lake access was great for our days spent swimming and playing in the sand.
The Oscoda Property is very nice with plenty of beds and bedrooms to stay in. Wish we could have had more sunny days but that comes with the territory. Lovely beach and Sandy water. We swam almost every day with our 6 year old and his mom. Away from all the craziness with plenty of playgrounds to explore. Could use a couple of comfy chairs beside the couches. We loved it last year and this year.

Not very clean
We read the description and understood that this was an older home, which was absolutely ok with us. However, it wasn't very clean. There were cobwebs, the coffee pot still had old coffee grounds in it, the screened in room wqs a mess, and there were mouse droppings on the countertops every day. I messaged the owner on the second night of our stay, and never got a reply.
This cabin was the perfect location for easy access to the lake and the town. We enjoyed a couple excursions and several days resting beach side with a fire. The owners are great communicators and incredibly hospitable. I was able to create many memories with my children, grandchildren, and parents. 3 generations of love in one place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This property is located on the best beach. The house is old and rustic but super roomy.
I love the location of this house, the beach front is perfect. The house and fixtures could use a few updates but the beds and linens are very nice. Tons of space. The neighbor hood is quiet and peaceful. The lot is wooded so it feels very private. A nice grocery store is 10 minutes away. Almost everything you could need is available. For the size and location of this property the prices is great. I hope to see you again next year.
This location offers an amazing view and access to Lake Huron. It is the best part of this listing. We appreciated the affordable rental and plenty of beds for our family. This property would be much improved with a little attention to the beds. There were no mattress pads, extra blankets, or extra pillows. The king size bed was very uncomfortable and could benefit from the addition of a pillow top. Rest and sleep on vacations are important to the guest experience and these would easy upgrades for a better stay. You will also need to bring all of your own drinking water. The water is brown coming out of the faucet. Overall, we had a great week.

Do NOT Book this property
House was listed as "vintage" but was just old, outdated , with even older furniture. When we arrived, the pilot on the oven was off and there was a gas smell in the kitchen. Pots and pans were greasy, crusty and not usable. Toaster was broke.
Beach was beautiful, but front yard was overgrown and not cut. I suppose that was supposed to be a natural look. The worse thing was that there was POISON IVY all over the property. That would have been nice to know beforhand.
We loved our stay here! It was almost completely positive. The beach was WONDERFUL! The kitchen was the best stocked I’ve ever seen in a rental property. Tons of plates and silverware. The fire pit was really nice and had good chairs around it, and a picnic table. The whole property was very private, and hardly anyone used the beach at surrounding properties, even on a warm, sunny Labor Day weekend. The king size bed has been updated since previous complaints, it was very comfy! Almost everything was so great here. Some cons to note:
1. There were mouse traps in the kitchen and we did find some droppings one morning.
2. It was not very well cleaned. We found many cobwebs, sand, etc. and had to vacuum (vacuum in the closet was a plus, though.)
3. Very rusty water, definitely bring bottles to drink from. The hot water heater worked great, though! We had many people shower and never had a shortage.
4. The living room windows don’t close all the way.
5. The stove didn’t work super well. The left two burners were extremely weak and we smelled gas when using the oven.
6. The bathroom could use some kind of ventilation. It takes forever to dry out.
7. The shower is very small. An upgrade to a suction cup shower curtain would help as it is hard not to spray the floor. Also the shower light is very dim.
Other than these easily fixable things, this place is SUCH A GEM! We really want to come back. Thank you so much for a wonderful week!
Rustic cabin with enough space for everyone. Watch the sun rise over lake Huron, spend the day on the beach and watch the stars by the fire at night.
Floors are a little uneven and not all the doors shut, but that's part of the charm. Only complaint is the shower needs updating. Water has a lot of iron, so bring plenty of bottled water!
Although neighbors close by, with all the trees on 3 sides it is a quiet property with lots of privacy. We have found exactly what we've been looking for in an up north vacation and will come back year after year!
Location is great. Beach is great. Size of property is great. Solid value for the money. The pictures do a good job telling the story of what to expect. If you expect the Marriott, you will be disappointed. If you expect an older cottage with a nice sandy beach you will be fine.
If I owned the property I would add a 2 inch memory foam mattress topper to the King bed. This property is clearly meant for those who like to be outside. So, when I go to bed I want a comfortable place to rest. The King size bed was not comfortable…at all. The rest were fine.
I would also add a water softener and iron filter. This is a much larger expense.
Do those two things and increase your rate by $150/week and it would help with return business.
Rustic cottage living, right on Lake Huron. The location of this cottage is lovely and in a natural setting right on the beach surrounded by wildflowers and trees. It is very private with plenty of space for a family with children. There is a beachside firepit on the property along with beach chairs, picnic table, floaties, sand toys, board games and even some firewood! The kitchen has everything needed for cooking simple meals. Beds were comfortable, wifi signal was strong and the one TV has many cable stations to watch. We saw rabbits, chipmunks, deer and other wildlife everyday. The surrounding town is family friendly with a beachfront park and playground, a grocery store, ice cream shops and public beach access. I recommend bringing drinking/bottled water to the cottage along with towels, hair dryer, bug spray and maybe extra pillows. The owner was very kind and responsive to texts. My family enjoyed our time here as it was back to basics and a fun nature/waterfront experience.
The beach was great. Once we entered the cottage it was unacceptable. This is a 1930 cottage that has not been remodeled. Some of the windows did not open. The dining room chairs upholstery was ripped. The pots and pans were unusable. We had to buy light bulbs to brighten up the interior. The owner indicated some towels would be provided and there was a crock pot at the cottage. None of the items were there. The cottage was also dirty. Due to a high iron count in the water, we all drank and used
bottle water.
We had a great time at this property, the lake was cold but the kids swam and played in the sand every day! We have rented other properties that claim to have a sandy beach, but then were mostly rocks... but this place truly has a sandy beach and sandy yard as pictured and described! The cabin itself is rustic, what you see in the pictures and descriptions is what you are getting but that made it affordable for our family to have a place right on the beach. We also enjoyed visiting East Tawas and Lumberman's monument while staying in the area. The owner was responsive and quick to help us with a wifi issue. It was a quiet and relaxing vacation, thanks!
Great place! The kids spent all day swimming and playing in the sand. The evenings we enjoyed a fire on the beach. The owners were always helpful and answered my, many, questions quickly. We’d stay here again.
Nice rustic knotty pine cottage. Rooms are very large. Beach and fire pit is very nice. Chairs and recliners were very comfortable. Neighborhood very quiet. Would rent this cottage again.
Cozy cottage right on the water with a nice little beach area on the property and great views of the water. However did run into issues with the running water not wanting to work frequently, but other than that it was a good stay.

About the host

We started out renting by the week and loved coming up to the quiet Sunrise Side. We bought this seasonal cottage and spent two summers enjoying the beautiful beach there. We fell in love with the area and in 2018 we made Harrisville our permanent home with a year around home on Lake Huron. Though living on the lake is glorious in the summer we found it has beauty in all seasons. So now we would like to share this little cottage with other families. Hope you create fun memories here like we did.
Why they chose this property
It was all about the beach! Beautiful white sand both on the beach and on the lake bottom. Close proximity to town is a bonus.
What makes this property unique
Without all the light pollution of the city the stars are so beautiful. If you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. The first week of August the Perseid Meteor Showers are fun to watch. Keep your eye on the horizon and watch for the freighters of the Great Lakes they are a bonus and binoculars provide a nice view.
