This was our 4th time at this property and it was lovely! It has definitely become a home away from home. We are already looking forward to next year's trip.
This place provides a wonderfully excluded escape with a home including all the anemities of home. Right off the lake with plenty to do both indoors and outdoors.
What a beautiful location and a lovely home! We loved the easy access to Lake Michigan and the availability of the kayaks. The house had everything we needed, and our host could not have been more accommodating. I hope we can return to this lakefront home before too long!
Absolutely loved our stay. This charming house provides an ideal mix of quiet nature and convenient access to towns and attractions. Well appointed, clean and comfortable.
Lovely house in a GREAT location. Rooms are spacious, lots of amenities. We loved the fire pit and experienced the best sunset I’ve ever seen across the bay. We found handfuls of Petoskey stones. Close to both Charlevoix and Petoskey, and close to lots of great golf. Hope to be back next year!
A little bit rustic, A little bit refined, and a whole lot of beautiful.
Our family really enjoyed our stay. The location is quiet and serene, the house is very accommodating. It has the exact feel that an up north rental should. Owners were so easy to work with, and check in/out was simple.
Beautiful lake property situated between Petoskey and Charlevoix. We enjoyed the access to the trail for walking and riding bikes…the house was very comfortable and clean. The outdoor space was pure Michigan…the deck, fire pit and the beautiful shoreline…thank you for a great weekend stay!
I can't express enough how grateful I am for this family opening up their piece of paradise with all of us! We made so many amazing memories here. The house is big, beautiful and very comfortable with all the amenities you need to enjoy! The veiw from the master bedroom is breath taking. Waking up hearing the waves and opening up my eyes to beautiful Lake Michigan first thing in the morning was my favorite part of our stay. My family didn't want to leave and are already asking if we can go back next year. ❤️
This was our 3rd stay at the property. Glorious sunsets & sunrises on beautiful Lake Michigan! Rock hunting, campfires and nature abound made for a wonderful family gathering. The property is private and spacious. Beds are comfortable and plenty of room for everyone.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful Lake Home!!!
Amazing views! Beautiful to wake up to.
There was enough space and room for everyone. Found petosky stones walking the beach.
Bob gave a great overall of different places to go in the area and communicated quickly if we had any questions.
We had a wonderful weekend at the house! We were with three couples and there was plenty of room for all of us. There were kayaks and bikes to use and plenty of room to play games and enjoy time together. We also appreciated the firewood so that we could enjoy a campfire. The location was wonderful on the lake. It's close to Petoskey and Charlevoix so a lot to see and do. We certainly enjoyed our stay!
Amazing and comfortable place to reconnect with old friends we hadn't seen in many years. It provided the perfect quiet place at "the end of the road" situated in the cool woods yet on the shore to watch sunsets, stars at night and just listen to the waves together. The home provided wonderful places to sit for meals and around a camp fire for smores. An older property but adequately maintained, lots of kitchen gear and comfortable beds for restful sleep. Great memories made here.
My husband, our two children and 4 grandchildren stayed at this property in Bay Shore between Charlevois and Petoskey. We had plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the house, the location and many of the included ameneties: kayaks and bicycles. We did not have warm weather during our stay, so I cannot comment on swimming at this location. However, we did go down to the lake and collect rocks (many Petoskey stones) and kayak. We enjoyed our stay.
Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Listing was even better then advertised!!!
We had a great time. Quiet on end of road in a very nice, safe neighborhood. Right on beautiful Lake Michigan.
Rocky shore private beach where you can find all kinds of Petosky and Charlevoix stones. Owners left kayaks and bikes to use. We loved kayaking Place is only a short distance from a very scenic 26 mile long bike path. House is very close to other fun beaches, restaurants and other things to do
The house is modern, clean and bright inside with all the great windows. Lots of outdoor space with fire pit and Adirondack chairs.
We rented this same property last year and were highly pleased with it. This year we rented for longer, and were very happy again. The house is spacious and conveniently arranged, with a lovely view through the trees to the lake. There is plenty of deck space and tables/chairs for outdoor eating, as well as a firepit for marshmallow toasting. The kitchen is well equipped, the wifi works great, and there are kayaks, canoe, bikes, etc. as well as a woodland path that starts behind the house, and the Petoskey-to-Charlevoix bike path at the end of the street. The owner's information about the cottage and the area is comprehensive and accurate. We had Another Lovely Stay!
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property near Charlevoix. The house is well laid out, with essentially two master suites and two other bedrooms which share a bath, an upstairs gathering area and one on the main floor, and a kitchen and dining room. There's also lots of outdoor seating for dining, which made it easy for the family to get together without being TOO close!, The kitchen is well supplied, and there is a large grill on the deck. We enjoyed the small beach area, which was as the picture shows it (right now the water is very high, but there was still some beach). The owner's instructions were very useful, and we also enjoyed the nearby forest paths and walked (2 miles) to a winery for fun. It was a relaxing and fun week, and we hope to go back in future!
We were only there for five days, but it was a wonderful stay in spite of the unseasonable cool weather. The secluded location on the cul-de-sac was very private, the view was unmatched, and the lake access can't be beat. We were able to spend one day on kayaks in the lake, got in a couple campfires and even a dip in the lake.
I've noticed a few reviews mentioning the outdated decor, which it was. So, if you're looking for the latest decorations you won't get it. However, that had ZERO impact on our ability to enjoy the property. If anything, the pictures didn't do the property justice. The house was much roomier than I expected. And, it was pretty much stocked with everything we needed. One trip to the local grocery store for meats/snacks and we were set for the trip.
We're looking forward to a return visit, and everyone agrees they want to stay longer next trip!
Had trouble getting into property. Attempted to contact owner with 2 phone numbers for help. He did not answer nor did he return messages during our entire stay! After much trouble we got the lock box open and got inside. Bed sheets on most beds had dirt on them and clearly had not been washed since previous guests. Entire house was dirty inside and out, lots of cobwebs around windows inside. Microwave and stove were particularly dirty. TV was basically worthless. No local channels and no live tv without some sort of login which we did not have. Cabinets and drawers were cluttered with personal items. My friends and I have rented many properties over the last few years and have never experienced anything close to this bad. I would never recommend this property to anyone!

Petoskey Jem wanna be!
This is the hard part, we did in fact have a good time outside the location, I suppose considering the rate we paid a night. It wasn't a bad deal yet we constantly felt we got a raw deal. I'll try to explain. It's a large beach front home in a quiet area, probably fabulous 25-30 + years ago. It doesn't appear that any updates have been done...ever.... peeling interior paint, cracked walls, filth, mold, really dirty carpet, grungy cabinets, woodwork etc....a maid just can't be to blame here, this poor home needs a complete do-over before it's rented again in my humble opinion. We had to go into the garage to locate lawn chairs, which were terribly filthy, the garage looked like a hoarder lived in there, yikes!!! This seemed unreasonable to ask a renter to do?! The web site claims there is a grill outside, it was buried in the garage beneath mouse crap and other debris...yuck! We didn't use it. We enjoyed the surrounding area, found lots of stones along the beach, sadly we will not be back. I don’t want to come across as mean spirited, I only want to give the next person an honest view as we experienced it!
Our parents were teachers and coaches in Northern Michigan. They met at Boyne Mountain, while both were living in the Detroit area, and eventually moved north. After retiring, they realized their dream of living on the lake by building this house. While my sisters and I all had lives that took us away from the area, our families love coming back whenever we can, and our kids have fallen in love with the region. We are offering the home as a vacation rental to share the magic of northen Michigan with others who appreciate the beauty and the lifestyle that shaped our family's lives.
