Our studio apartment is located on the ground floor, under our 3 bedroom rental. With a entrance of it's own. It sleeps two, with one queen bed, full bath, living room/ dining and a fully equipped kitchen plus a washer/dryer.

This is a very well appointed, very comfortable apartment. It's a great location for day trips to Denali Park. The owners were very welcoming to us.

We enjoyed our stay in this thoughtfully planned studio. While small, it had everything we needed for cooking and laundry and a comfortable bed to sleep in. The furnishings were up to date and the local artwork was aesthetically pleasing. The shower was big for a small space and the water was always hot. The bbq, just outside the door, was convenient and in top condition. The hosts were friendly and responsive to any questions we had. The houses in the neighborhood are spaced a good distance apart and we had a nice outdoor sitting area outside with lots of trees and an occasional moose sighting. A really great place to stay if your are visiting Denali.
My spouse and I were looking for a "landing pad" for our trip to Denali NP. This studio apartment was perfect -- exceedingly well equipped, beautiful views out the windows and we managed to have time to sit outside and watch the sun set a night or two after spending the day exploring the park. It's near an IGA/hardware store and there's a sweet path through the woods behind the house I walked each morning after my first cup of coffee. It's about a 15 min drive to Denali visitor center. Everything was perfect.
Our stay at Taiga 2 was exceptional! It is a very comfortable, clean, well appointed studio apartment that has every thing that you could need! Full kitchen, laundry, coffee maker and lots of extras. Todd greeted us upon our arrival and was as friendly and helpful as could be. After a moose-less day, we came “home” to Taiga 2 and Bullwinkle wandered by about 30 minutes later!
This was one of the nicest VRBO’s I’ve stayed at. The place was gleaming. Everything was in excellent repair and the quality of everything was excellent. It was perfect for one or two persons.
This studio was perfect for my husband and I. The location was close to Denali National Park where we had a great time exploring.
The studio was well equipped, and even included a washer and dryer which was necessary after our adventure.
We would definitely stay here again if back in the area.

Denali was closed due to a wildfire but the Taiga 2, Studio Apartment and Julie and Todd made the trip worth it! The studio is amazing - well thought out and great use of all the space. The beautiful and space saving furniture and appliances make it feel bigger than the pictures. Julie and Todd were great, giving us lots of recommendations for hikes, local activities and resources, including the walking trail on their property. Their dogs are mellow and sweet. Thank you for everything!
This lovely little studio provides a perfect, romantic get~away. Its proximity to Denali is convenient and yet it affords plenty of peace and quiet. There’s even a hiking trail on the property! Julie and Todd were gracious hosts and the studio was perfectly appointed. Would definitely recommend!
My husband and I really appreciated the quiet time with nature we experienced here. This cozy, clean studio apartment overlooks a field of spruce trees and is filled with birdsong. The studio was well equipped with kitchen appliances and cookware and the bathroom also had extra shampoo, towels, etc.. We appreciated the extra bug and bear spray too that was on hand as well as a washer/dryer. The unit is conveniently located to several restaurants and is about a :20 drive to the entrance of Denali National Park. The bed was comfortable and provided for an easy night’s rest.
I highly recommend this lodging. It was clean, had everything we needed and a great location. Hosts were wonderful. They even called to us to see a moose in the yard. Made my day. Perfect place.

The best thing about The Taiga 2 is the setting-gorgeous views and quiet yard to enjoy. The cozy little studio looked brand new, super clean and pleasantly decorated. Two big window to let view in with black out curtains for sleep. Table and chairs and mini kitchen w stove are nice! Comfortable snug little spot perfect for visiting denali and still having a quiet cozy place to stay out of the bustle.
Clean, well-appointed and convenient studio for visiting Denali NP, just 20 minutes away. Close to groceries, restaurants, hiking, and sightseeing. The BEST apt. on our two-week trip to AK!
Stayed 3 nights. Nice and quiet, very clean. The top of the line appliances all look brand new and the shower is fabulous. Nice warm, quiet, reliable Toyo heat kept the temperature exactly where I set it with no fluctuations. Todd and Julie are wonderful hosts, swapped a couple stories with Todd. I'll definitely be staying there again when I'm in the neighborhood.
We loved this little studio apt for the time we spent exploring Denali! Everything was as expected from check in (very easy) to the cleanliness of the unit. It was about a 12 minute drive to the entrance of the park which was also away from the "hustle" of Denali village. We loved the peaceful vibe and the ability to make a few meals at "home". The bed was super comfortable which made it easy to sleep in. If your looking for a place to stay while in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to book this place. Todd and Julie, thank you for creating a place for visitors to get a taste of living in AK.
Perfect distance to Denali and one of the nicest places we stayed on our trip. Todd greeted us and offered suggestions for hiking and seeing the Mountain. We plan to come back to see Denali and would want to stay here again!
The studio rental was amazing! It was clean, well put-together, and had a lot to offer for a small space. We knew we were in the right place when we were greeted by two happy dogs as we pulled in the property. Awesome to have a kitchen, washer/dryer for after a day on trails, awesome relaxing shower, and super comfy bed. Close to town and Denali for the day trips. Felt very private even though it's attached to other units. Owners stopped in to check in, but left us to ourselves - and made sure we knew that they were there if we needed anything. Well worth the cost, and a beautiful property. Walking trail in the back was a great bonus. Stay here - you'll love it!
The Taiga House is owned by Todd and Julie Shorey. Todd travelled to Alaska in 1986 and discovered the wonders of Denali National Park and the warmth of the people of the Interior, and never left. He has worked as a tour guide in the summer sun, and a carpenter on many Denali projects through out the winter months. Julie is a life long Alaskan, who grew up just down the road in Cantwell. Our family enjoys salmon fishing, hiking in Denali, picking and eating the seasonal berries, and the winter sports of ice hockey and skiing. Life is good for us here in Healy, and we look forward to sharing our mountain view home with you, and our knowledge of the Alaskan Interior.
Why they chose this property
Our family purchased this house and six acres of property in 2011 as we moved north from McKinley Village, and instantly fell in love with the open landscape that flows from the south door to the Mountains of Denali Park. As a family we have worked together to create a home, as well as guest spaces for visitors to enjoy. We are sure you'll agree that our location is ideal for your once in a lifetime Alaskan experience.
What makes this property unique
Our rental has wonderful mountain views and instant wilderness access, while still being at the edge of town. It is a great home base for your adventures into Denali, a wonderful location to take a morning trail walk with a cup of coffee, and an inviting space to simply relax and enjoy the view. Be our guest and enjoy the rest!
