Such a lovely home! This 2-story home has old world charm with some modern amenities. Currently only the downstairs level is available for occupancy. The second story is still in a state of remodel although there will be no construction going on during your stay. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, large living room, large dining room with a pellet stove, newly remodeled kitchen, tv/laundry room. The back yard is great for the bamboo lover.

Family vacation near the redwoods and coast for 5 nights/6 days
The house is very spacious with large living room, large dinning room, modern kitchen, and "family room" (this room is in the back had the TV and washer/dryer). The washer/dryers were quite new and worked well. The bedrooms had a large closet that could be accessed from both bedrooms. It is Victorian so had high ceilings and made all the rooms even more spacious. The kitchen had all the needed gadgets.
The full bathroom downstairs is very old and needs update. It i very depressing to use. We used the bathroom upstairs and the small 1/2 bath.
The bedroom in the front had a large window that faced the front yard where there were large lamp posts that were on all night. This made the room quite bright at night. If you like to sleep in the dark, this would be an issue. The curtain was thin and did not block much. The second bed room was fine because it did not face the front.
The location was a quick drive to 3 grocery stores (Safeway, Grocery Outlet, and a natural food store) which was very convenient. We bought food to make lunch food for our hikes. We used the kitchen every morning for breakfast and found all the needed pans, pots, table ware, and tools---well equipped kitchen.
It is an old Victorian so could be a little musty. These is a large back yard (we did not use it but checked it out). Also, the location is just couple blocks away from the historic museum (lots of neat stuff in there and housed an impressive collection of original native American baskets).
We were excited to stay in this Crescent City home because of its proximity to the Redwoods. It is located just a few blocks from the beaches and a quick walk to a coffee and groceries as well as restaurants. The house is rented with two lovely bedrooms (one of the bed frames is a bit squeaky), a nice living room, dining room, fully remodeled kitchen, a TV / laundry room and 1 full bathroom at the back of the house and a tiny 1/2 bathroom next to the bedrooms . The upstairs of the house is unfinished and needs flooring, wall coverings, etc. We were happy to find portable heaters in the closets because it is chilly in Crescent City. I like to cook and the kitchen worked perfectly for our stay. It was stocked with all the dishes and pans needed. We really didn't use the backyard (we'd rather be out in the redwoods or on the beach) but there is room to wander. If you are looking for a finished backyard, this really is a work in progress. There was some wildlife under the house and we notified the manager who responded right away.
When all the renovations are complete, I am sure the house will be amazing. All in all it was a great find at a good price.
Beautiful historic property convenient to town and parks
This house is being lovingly restored to a timeless beauty; if you enjoy historic details like glistening chandeliers, solid walls, sleigh beds and a formal dining room, we think you'll enjoy this property.
The kitchen is gorgeous and completely renovated, and I've been secretly plotting how to bring these hardwood floors home. ;-) The whole house was clean and welcoming, (especially so after we figured out the lights were on dimmers and we were able to brighten it up considerably.)
We had more then enough space for two of us to spread out
in the formal living room, dining room, and an additional TV/laundry room, (that room does smell pretty strongly of laundry scents) and appreciated the quiet, residential feel of the neighborhood, which was only minutes from restaurants, beaches and parks. The layout is a bit unconventional, with the main bathroom toward the back of the house. There's an additional 1/2 bath between the two bedrooms, which is excellent for night time visits. We didn't occupy upstairs, since it's not finished yet and was not part of our stay.
Once the bathroom is renovated, this property is on its way to five stars, easily. During our stay, the shower curtain was held up precariously and the bathtub not really usable as a tub as a result, but I understand this is on the upcoming list of changes to be made. The damp climate also makes a challenge for any bathroom - we made use of the dryer for towels on occasion.
We especially appreciated our stay here after a couple nights in hotels in Arcata. Due to the road closure on 101, (check CA department of transportation if you haven't already - we were blind-sighted) we left two days early out of anxiety that we'd miss our flight out of Eureka/Arcata. For about as much as we paid here, we got dumpy, dirty, smelly, noisy rooms there. We'd love to come back to this vacation rental as a superior alternative. Also, Donna was very gracious about letting us out of two days of our reservation due to the road situation, and responded to questions during our stay.
Nice location to enjoy the Redwoods, clean, close to all that you'd need. Neighborhood felt safe and was very quiet, felt very private even though other houses nearby. Owner had good suggestions for local coffee. Checking was just ok, key not in a lock box as expected, and we could have used more info on house operations, but we figured it out. Lots of space, it is being remodeled so it's not perfect, but for the price it's a great deal.
It was too old fashioned for our taste. The shower curtain rod in bathroom was not secure, too flimsy. The walls didn’t seem finished.

Perfect for Halloween
This home was the perfect location for a small family Halloween get together. The bamboo in the backyard was amazing and the renovations done downstairs are beautiful. The upstairs was under construction it looked like and was not able to be used which was not communicated.
Overall a great experience with our stay, close to the beach and local supermarkets. When we arrived the house was clean and in order. The two bedrooms were connected by a walk though closet and had doors, which was great for our kids to feel close to us in a strange place. The TV room did help during down time for the kids and had a stove to keep them warm during the evening.
We didn't have any real complaints during our stay, it was just a little difficult getting the key lock due to us arriving so late in the evening and dull knives in the kitchen. Other than that I would recommend it to other families or someone wanting to stay in a quiet area with close access to the beach and other natural beauty in the surrounding area.
Home is very family friendly, Great location next to the beach
The Home is very Family friendly with a great location. Close to a lot of beach spots and a short drive to the trails. I was very happy with the home and location. The owner communicated with us and gave us everything we needed. We already want to book another trip and stay again. Also the back yard was great to play in and BQ. The kids had a great time playing with Glow sticks and balls

Advertised to sleep 8 yet only sleeps 6. No central heat. Broken dishwasher and no price adjustment. Funky shower. A charming property but not as advertised at all.
This is perfect if you looking for a change from the ordinary! The owner has/is clearly put(ting) a lot of love and care into the restoration of this beautiful old home, preserving the character, while updating for comfort. It's absolutely peaceful, but still an easy walk to restaurants and the water. One caution - if luxury baths are your thing, this might not be the right property for you. The one shower has been converted from a bathtub, with 360 deg. shower curtain. It's clean, and perfectly functional, but definitely basic, and hopefully on the list of planned upgrades :-)
This house was perfect for our family, it has everything that you need to be comfortable in a rental. I have a special needs son who loves to travel, and was really happy that the front yard has a fence with a gate that you can lock. The house itself was big and comfy, everything was actually better than described. The furniture and beds were great, and the place is centrally located. You can grab food, head to the beach or get a coffee within minutes. There was great communication, all of our needs were met, and we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you, Donna!
This house worked out wonderfully, there was plenty of room. It was beautiful inside and out! The property manager was easy to get ahold of. Location was right in the middle of town and close to everything you need as well as just a short walk to the beach. Will stay here again in the future.
