This property is excellent, it ouses charm and is decorated to a high standard. It is very well equipped and in an ideal location.
We have booked again for next year.
As an active couple with one small dog, this place was perfect. Great location, house was really comfortable, great galley kitchen, sitting room with gorgeous views, and a proper master suite with freestanding tub in bedroom with views out the window to the bay and beyond. The shower ensuite was also lovely. The shower had great pressure and again lovely views out to the harbour. We didnt use the top bedroom - but this would work well if you had one child of a medium age. We had 4 nights and really enjoyed it
Absolutely fabulous place. The location is perfect, the cottage is beautifully decorated and really comfortable and the views are amazing. We were lucky to have great weather and the balcony was the perfect place to while away the afternoon.
The access for the person staying in the attic bedroom to the bathroom and downstairs is through the main bedroom. The stairs were also far from easy to use. All of this shouldhave been communicted, vbro needs to have more vigorous checks ! I wont trust this site again
The skirting boards were so filthy, weeks of dust
Its a nice location, great to watch the boats, picures of rooms made the lounge look so much bigger
We had a fantastic four nights stay at the cottage, it was clean and everything we hoped for, the decorations and facilities were spot on and the central location was perfect for us. I would definitely return and recommend to family and friends
Perfect for 2 ...Whitby harbour views even from the loo....Coastal and French styling all in tones of blue.....take a look at the photos and see if it's for you !
If you are lucky enough to book this beautiful place you will feel like you’ve gone back in time, quality beyond words, stunning location, sitting out on the balcony is breathtaking, the view from the bath of Captain Cook’s statue with a glass of bubbles is something else, prepare to be wowed in Whitby at The Folly. Thank you to the hosts and the lovely lady we met today as we checked out, love and best wishes. Xx ❤️
The location is ideal. All local amenities are on the doorstep, including all manner of shops, bars and restaurants.
There are views of the Harbour / Sea from every window. The balcony of the property Is the place to be for watching all the activities of the Harbour.
The facilities in the property are good. From the galley kitchen to the free standing bath.
We were so impressed with our stay, we booked again for later in the year.
Truly superb cottage right on the water and on the quieter side of Whitby. Great communication with our host and perfect amenities. This is the only place we want to stay when visiting. Yes, one must be nimble to get to it but you will be rewarded with an outstanding, one of a kind cottage.
Quirky, beautifully located cottage overlooking the harbour, accessed down atmospheric tiny ally ways from a busy but quaint mostly pedestrian high street .
Well furnished, warm and comfortable. Recommended.
Accurate description of property and good communications. Remember to book your parking permit for the week with the Whitby Tourist information office - they even posted it out to me! A lovely stay - thank you
The property was very good. Very central and overlooking the harbour and the town. It was a bit of an ordeal when first we arrived. The property is in the location in Whitby and maybe we should have not arrived until after 6pm. The crowds on Church Street are a bit daunting to drive through. The key safe is very difficult and despite several attempts the tv didn’t conventionally work and a microwave would been a good addition to the kitchen.
We really enjoyed our stay, so much so that we have booked for next year already!
It is really quirky and not huge, but only 2 of us and our dog so absolutely perfect for us all.
The kingsize bed is sooooooooo comfy, had really good nights sleep (except 1 very stormy night!!).
The location is superb, loved sitting out on the balcony when warm enough to do so, or sitting in the window seat when it wasn't.
Great to be able to just pootle down the jitty to the beach when tide out, or along to the grass past the steps when not out - to be able to walk the dog - neither very far so didn't miss not having a garden.
As others say the stairs are those of an old cottage so are fairly steep and wind around, bear in mind that the loo is in the bathroom which is upstairs, so its not just a case of negotiating the stairs twice a day. I do have arthritis but did manage for the week, but wouldn't be suitable if you have severe problems.
Thankyou Davina for a wonderful holiday - we are looking forward to next year already!

Some issues
Quirky cottage in an wonderful location. Lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the tide coming in and going out. However the table on the balcony was rusty! The bedding was not great - but worse there was no mattress protector. The cottage was mostly and generally clean but the amount of dust catching decor would make it impossible to be completely so. Not the standard expected considering the cost!

Why they chose this property
The Folly is a very special place. Its tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Church Street and is the perfect bolthole to enjoy the stunning views over the Harbour and out to Sea and to watch the fishing boats coming in to land their catch.
