This is a NONSMOKING property. Thank you.
(Please no motorcycles. We have a long gravel drive. We like bikers and wouldn't want any to get injured.)
No pets, please.
Also, we do NOT have wifi, but a landline and satellite TV is provided.
Our cabin is an all wood, thoughtfully decorated Appalachian style cabin. It has two bedrooms each with queen beds, two full baths, and a queen sleeper sofa. Best Disconnect Ever

My wife and I both work in public safety/health professions and were interested in a remote mountain cabin to take our family in order to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life. We found what we were looking for at the Yellow Creek Cabin. There is some cell phone service in Robbinsville (15 min drive) and at the top of the mountain in Joyce Kilmer park 10-15 min drive). We were also able to connect to WiFi at Tapoco which we had excellent dining and also boasts a cigar smoking lounge while being close to the cabin. This cabin was just what we needed to recharge our batteries. The property has some hiking opportunities of its own while also being close to other at Joyce Kilmer park and the Nanatahala National Forest. If you need a day at a theme park, this cabin is only a 2 hour drive from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the creek running next to the cabin and the decor of the cabin itself takes you back to a simpler time and place and is extremely relaxing. If you’re worried about activities for your children we played multiple board games but also enjoyed the DirectTV. As my wife put it, if you don’t enjoy this spot for your next vacation it’s not the cabin.

Birthday getaway

We celebrated two family birthdays with fly fishing in the creek and sitting on the porch rocking and listening to the soothing sounds of Yellow Creek. All four of us are in our seventies and this was the perfect setting for recharging.

Disconnection

No internet, no cell service, no signal. Into the woods of the NC mountains by a easy playful creek. Everything is about 30 minutes away. Its good to get away from work, social media, and makes you grateful for what you have at home.

We had such a great time!!!

We were so please with our stay!! This is our new favorite vacation destination! We have never stayed in such a clean vacation rental. We can’t wait to go back! The DishTv was not working, but Payton did make efforts during our stay to address the issue. It was completely fine because we enjoyed some DVDs while we were there. The property was SO nice and well maintained. All of the amenities were included as well as some special additions that we didn’t expect (cut firewood, field guides, brochures, etc). I especially enjoyed the field guides and books at the cabin with notes about he dates of sightings. Our kids really enjoyed the board games. There was some sort of issue with the county trash service at the time of our stay but we made arrangements with Payton to address the situation. We will be back! ~The James Family, June 2024

Yellow Creek Cabin

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at this cabin! It was a much needed escape from the world! As mentioned in the listing there is no cell service at the cabin but you can find some within a few miles drive. There is a landline if needed. We loved playing by the creek and walking through the property. The cabin is very nice and clean. We hope to return next year! If you a looking for a place to unwind, this is one you should consider!

Unplugged

I initially misread that there wasn’t internet or cell service at the cabin. I was a bit apprehensive because my husband has entered a busy time of the year at work. BUT it turned out to be a blessing in disguise for us all. He was actually able to relax when we spent time in and around the cabin which hasn’t happened in a long time. There is TV and a house phone that allows for long distance if you need it. Even in 40 degree weather, we all enjoyed the creek. We bought a pair of waterproof boots for our child in Bryson City and were able to walk around in the shallow parts looking for rocks and stuff. My husband was also able to pull a brook trout from it. There are two fly fishing stores in Bryson city that are relatively close to each other. Robbinsville also has a fairly nice coffee shop with internet. It’s called Kin Cafe. Overall, we all loved our stay. The cabin was filled with all the basic necessities. The owners were very very nice and informative. There is a book in the cabin full of things to do and directions. We would definitely visit again.

Tail of the Dragon weekend

The cabin was just as advertised and beautifully decorated and super clean and well stocked! My wife and I loved it and even took advantage of starting a fire and roasting some hot dogs to eat at the picnic table by the babbling stream. If I had any item to note and recommend to any future renters is make sure you have a 4-wheel drive/all-wheel or even SUV to get down and up the single-lane gravel and rock pathway down to the cabin. We had some lowered sports cars to take on the dragon and there is no way to navigate that decline/incline on the rocks without destroying your vehicle. My Outback navigated it just fine. We had to end up leaving the cars at Fontana Village overnight as we needed parking for them. Other than that it was wonderful and enjoyed stepping away from the hustle and bustle and become one with nature. The stream is awesome and so soothing to sit by! Thanks so much for allowing us to enjoy your little slice of heaven.

A piece of God’s beauty

This was an absolutely cute little cabin. The road in was a bit scary as we did not get there until after 11pm. Very secluded area. There are neighbors within eye sight. My husband did get to catch and release a couple fish in the creek. As far as all you needed in the kitchen …. Everything was there and they even had nice pots and pans which you rarely ever find in a rental. Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, hand towels, dish towels and body towels. Nice front porch with rocking chairs. THEN there are the beds. They were horrible. We tried. We slept the first night in one bed , the next night in the other bed and the third night we split up and one per bed. Our backs were killing us. We went out for the day and my husband and I talked about it and we couldn’t endure another night of the beds. I text the owners and told them we were leaving and why…. No response until the original check out date and no offer of reimbursement. I had to pay for a hotel for 2 nights to finish our planned trip an hour away from where we intended to be. That was the downfall of it all. Good luck… it is beautiful it’s just the beds.

Mountain Getaway

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at The Yellow Creek Cabin. The owners contacted me by email before arriving at the cabin. They sent lots of information on things to do in the area, closest resteraunts, grocery stores , etc. Also gave very detailed directions on how to get to the cabin. When we arrived , we were blown away. The pictures of the cabin online do not do it justice. This cabin is amazing and in a perfect location. So peaceful and with no wifi or cell service, it gave my wife and I the quality alone time we needed to escape our everyday stresses. The cabin also was fully stocked with all the things needed to cook, do laundry, had a nice charcoal grill and plenty of firewood for a fire by the creek. Thanks to the owners for letting us enjoy this little piece of heaven on earth. We did not want to come back home. We will definitely be back again!

Message the rental manager before booking

This is a nicely decorated house with a full stocked kitchen. Property manager is not the quickest to respond, may take hours. I had to message them on the way to the property to get the key code on how to access the property. And thankfully I did it ahead of time. There is no cell service on the mountain, you will have to drive 15 minutes down the mountain to get service. The cabin during our stay had no phone service and according to the guest log, has been out for a long while, which was not mentioned in the description of the property, but also made for a very unsafe and inconvenient situation. We would have had no way to call 911 had something happened, but thank goodness it didn’t. The property is described to be close to things to do in Nantahala and Bryson City, however it’s a good drive to get to anything from the cabin. The house was very clean, but the water had a super strong sulfur odor to it. That is not something they can help, I only mention it because if smells affect you, this is not the property for you. My husband and kids had to use the filter on the kitchen sink faucet just to brush their teeth.

Peaceful

We stayed in August. We were hoping for a little cooler weather than Florida. We did get that, but not as cool as we thought unfortunately (not anyones fault). We still enjoyed the cabin. It was peaceful. The kids played outside and really enjoyed wild life bingo and sorry from the cabin. They played in the creek/stream as well. We got to do some local hiking and the white water rafting at Nantahala. We had some beautiful days. Due to the heat and bugs we didnt do the smores and fire in the evenings as much as we wanted, but we did enjoy the porch and listening to the running water instead. We had a great mix of activities and relaxing. A great part was no service so we had to be old school. The owners were great to communicate with and they should be be proud of the person who cleans their cabin. No complaints from us on the trip.

This was our second stay at the Yellow Creek Cabin. The location is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Whether relaxing on the porch overlooking Yellow Creek or walking around the yard, the views are breathtaking. The cabin was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a fun family vacation. The location is convenient to many outdoor activities, hiking, tubing, whitewater rafting, etc. We look forward to returning again in the future. Perfect Mountain Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at the Yellow Creek Cabin! Payton and Laura were wonderful hosts - very communicative and helpful. They provided us with tons of information about the cabin and things to do in the area before our arrival. And inside the cabin you will find tons more information. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for a mountain vacation. The kitchen was very well stocked and we cooked most of meals in. Our daughter (9) LOVED to play in the creek! Even though the water was chilly, she was in there playing everyday. We all enjoyed getting our feet wet, finding cool rocks, and just how tranquil it was. The beds were very comfortable. We had a great time! My only bit of information for future renters: The turn off of Yellow Creek Road is a sharp turn for sure. If you are coming from the east, you may need to turn around down the road somewhere and come at it from the other direction. We were towing a kayak trailer so this was the case for us. Otherwise, everything was wonderful! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Time to disconnect and reboot!

This cabin is just what the doctor ordered! The cabin is very nice and comfortable. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The creek is wonderful and I caught trout out of it while I was there. We went hiking in the Joyce Kilmer Forrest, ate at the Tapoco Lodge and shopped and had dinner in Bryson City. There is no Wi-Fi or cell service and it takes approximately 20 minutes to get to anything you want to do, but that is the beauty of this cabin. You can come here and reset and enjoy the beautiful scenery in peace and quiet. You will not be bothered by the world. It was so refreshing and relaxing. Tapoco Lodge is the closest place to eat and is wonderful! They had live music and the food was really good! Thank you for letting us use your wonderful cabin.

Perfect cabin in the woods

Exactly what we hoped for. Looked just like the photos. Loved having campfires every night next to the creek. Fireplace was beautiful and easy to operate. Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. Owners are super nice, responsive and sent lots of helpful info on things to do. Yellow creek falls close by - great trail with nobody else on it both times we went. Do yourself a favor and go to the trail behind Tapoco Lodge. It’s a slightly harder hike but well worth the falls you encounter!

This property was fantastic For us it was a perfect way to get away from technology enjoy the time as a family. Be advised however if you have a cell phone it probably will have zero service we had two different providers Verizon and AT&t. No calls, no texts… bliss

Husband works 21 days on, 1 off and is on call that 1 day. His phone goes off with work calls endlessly. We needed to disconnect. Completely. Yellow Creek was perfection. The sound of the creek… it was everything. The cabin was spotless and fully stocked. We ended up never leaving the cabin during our stay. Wasn’t our original plan, but the pull to not need to be anywhere or do anything was just too strong. There is a land line and a cabin off in the distance that you can hardly see but, being off grid, I felt comforted knowing that there was access to help if it was needed. The owner was great with communication and there were no unreasonable “to do” lists expected of renters. There is a grill, fire pit, rocking chairs on the deck overlooking the creek. We’ve rented a lot of places and this is the first one where I said I’d happily rent it again. It’s truly lovely.
