Great spot!
Definitely a long drive but worth it! Great place to crash after hiking or things. Grill out on deck and common spaces are perfect

Loved the deck overlooking the lake, the swimming, and the beautiful landscape. It was super hot, so sleeping was difficult with only a fan, but overall it was a fabulous stay and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay on Lake Saganaga
Great home base for a cross-country skiing or canoe trip. Robert (the host) is a good communicator and flexible on check-in. Shared kitchen and living space are a little tough with COVID, but otherwise great. Fully stocked kitchen, patio and grill available during the non-winter months.

Very clean, amazing location
You can't beat the location of this property, which is right on a lake and next to BWCA entry pt #55. That is reason alone to stay here. A close second is the cleanliness, which did meet my highest standards. We did have some mishaps with communication and checking in, but it was resolved and to our satisfaction, making the rest of our stay pleasant and relaxing! I have already recommended a friend to this location, who plans to make the trip up in January.

Don’t like to share kitchen, living room and dining room with another people in this COVID season☹️
I like the location really beautiful and relax. But I don’t feel comfortable to share kitchen, living room and dining room with any one else in this COVID season.

I cannot say enough good things about this property. We arrived late and left early, so unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy the beautiful lakeview. It was the beautiful wilderness retreat that we were hoping for at the end of a day spent in nature. The entire lodge was well cared for. We really appreciated the larger than usual size of the fridge and addition of a freezer, directly in our room. We didn't utilize the kitchen but stopped in briefly. It is a beautiful kitchen and well equipped with appliances. The room was clean and comfortable. I will definitely be returning in the future. The wifi was steady and worked great. My only complaint is that there really wasn't a lot of information about the property on the listing. We didn't know it was as far away from Grand Marais as it was until we were on our way there. It is about an hour and 20 minute drive from Grand Marais, so if your main attraction is Grand Marais, you will want to plan time to travel to the lodge as well. However, for us this was not a problem. We loved the stay and can't wait to return with family.

Great place and get away!
Great fishing right off the dock. Very nice and new accommodations. Will definitely return again. We had a group of 10 and had room for everyone. The deck is spectacular!

I am a former executive that now spends my time redeveloping older properties into very functional one of a kind properties.

Why they chose this property

Trips up the Gunflint Trail help you slow down and enjoy every moment. There is no rush here, only time to present. Our neighbors are mostly wildlife, so practicing leave not trace is essential here. Only 6 hours from the Twin Cities and 3 hours from Duluth International Airport, this is the perfect location to experience all 4 seasons: fishing and swimming in the summer, fall color drives and hikes, northern lights in the winter, and bird migrations in the spring!

What makes this property unique

One of a kind property located directly on Lake Saganaga - the best fishing lake in Minnesota! Lake Saganaga is a border lake and from here you can have access to the entire BWCA for day trips but come back to a soft bed, kitchen, and BBQ. Come winter, we are located in what seems to be a snow globe - with fishing and snowmobiling right out the door!
