If you have problems with Cell phone service. Try it in WiFi mode. Our location in the valley makes satellite service a challenge here. This is the best service we have found for here.

What a great house!

This is the second time we stayed at Mike's house and loved it. We plan on staying there again next year. It's a wonderful place to relax and hang out!

They thought of everything!

I thought about not singing the praises of this property because I would love to keep it to myself, but they earned every one of those five stars! Myself and my sister in law clean homes for a living and my husband and brother are in construction. So we..needless to say… notice the little things and usually have to overlook a lot in vacation homes. We were amazed at how clean this place was (props to housekeeping!) and well built! I also love how organized the home was, fully stocked, labels on everything! (I love labels!) nicely decorated, the beds were well made, clean bedding and best of all comfy! The proximity to Buena Vista and Mt. Princeton hot springs means you won’t be left with nothing to do, plenty of fun or relaxing options. These people should write a book on how to do vacation homes. I highly recommend this place, and will be back.. if it’s available..!

Great hideaway in the piñons

We enjoyed our 3-night stay in this clean, spacious, easy-to-live-in cabin. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfy, and the views were magnificent. Appreciated the many thoughtful touches, such as the labeled kitchen drawers and cabinets. Close to hiking trails. Easy drive to town for a meal. Amazing night sky.

Friends getaway/reunion

Mike’s place in Nathrop was the perfect place for our getaway/reunion, which included six retired teachers who use to work together! The space was perfect and we had a blast. We all had super comfy beds and bathroom space. The kitchen was great which we put to good use. It was so thoughtful that all the cabinet s and drawers were labeled for easy access to utensils. The entire property was spotless and, thankfully, clear of nicknacks! It was all tastefully and simply decorated. We enjoyed the games and the deck looking out on the chalk cliffs, as well as Mt Princeton hot springs and st. Elmo. Wonderful place. Thanks Mike for your thoughtful and warm hospitality.

Relaxing vacation

We had a wonderful time with our friends and loved the mountain home. It was clean and well stocked. We especially liked the layout of the house and the large deck with a beautiful view of the Chalk Cliffs! Mike and Toni are excellent hosts. We hope to return soon. Max & Cathy

Great Getaway !

The house was perfect for our young family of 5! It was very clean, well organized , comfortable , and updated . It is in a great location for hikes, Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, and St. Elmo . The views of the mountains and stars from the house made us not want to leave! I would highly recommend staying at this home to anyone visiting the area .

Absolutely Perfect

This property did not disappoint. It was perfect for my husband and I. We wanted a peaceful place to just relax. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife each morning while having breakfast on the back deck. The home is amazingly clean, well stocked, spacious and in a great location. AND the fact that it has A/C was definitely appreciated due to the heat wave during our stay!

Chalk Cliffs under Mt. Princeton

This is a great way place to stay! Perfectly positioned between Salida and Buena Vista. The chalk cliffs don’t disappoint. A beautiful fishing lake close by makes fun for all ages. St. Elmo is right down the road too, kids had fun exploring and feeding all the chipmunks. Would definitely book again!

A great spot outside of town

We have stayed the Buena Vista area a few times over the last 3 summers and this is a great location outside of town: peaceful, great views of the mountains all around (you're right at the base of them like the listing photos show) and after sunset, dark enough to see incredible night sky views. Close enough to town to enjoy the amenities of Buena and Salida, and all the outdoor activites surrounding them (hiking, UTV rental, rafting). Very clean, light switches and cabinets labeled, great printed guide to the area grocery stores and tourist spots. Highly recommend this home for your getaway to the mountains.

Don't pass this place up

I won't be able to mention everything that we loved about this house. The windows were spotless so when you have the blinds up (or down) you have perfect views. Everything we needed was there... literally everything we didn't have packed and wished we had was there in some drawer. They have many drawers labeled so you aren't searching over and over for things. The place was very clean, the beds and pillows were great. My husband described it as high end. They have a DVD player in the living room with some dvd's and games. The reason I booked this house was mainly because it had AC. We were coming from Texas. I knew the weather in Natrhop was going to be good but I didn't want to chance it being the one hot week and being stuck without an AC. Coming to Colorado was a break from the Texas summer heat for us. 5 minutes down the road is horseback riding, 15 minutes away are plenty of places to take you white water rafting. 17 minutes away is Beuna Vista with a grocery store plus places to shop and eat. 30 minutes away in Salida is a Walmart. I put in a grocery order there for the day after we arrived so that I didn't have to worry about shopping. 5 -10 minutes down 162 is a place where you pull off to the side, you can park and walk a trail somewhere around there. For me the place you park was what was appealing. You're next to rapids and it's so breathtaking. There are hot springs down the road but my son was in a cast so we didn't get a chance to try them out. Enjoy

Best Home for Families with Mountain Views for Days

Amazing home fit for any family. I cant express how wonderful our stay was at "Hidden in the Pinions". The home accommodates for mostly anything you need if you forgot something. The kitchen is completely loaded with cookware, including a crockpot for family meals. The home is so clean with updated features. Beds are all comfortable and has a Pack N Play as well as, a highchair for the little ones. Which we used with our 1 yr old. A single level home with plenty of space and seating. It also has air conditioning which is a rare find in these areas, but for those hot summer months it is a plus. The host also provides fans in each room, which is a must for me when I sleep. We travel to Mt Princeton/Buena Vista annually, and we will book this rental every time in the future until we can buy our own place. It felt like our home away from home.

Love, Love, Loved It!

We were at "Hidden In The Pinons" for a girls' getaway -- four of us ladies. This property exceeded our expectations! Because it has good reviews, we thought it would be nice but it was fantastic! Immaculately clean and everything they provide is quality! The beds were clean and comfortable with plenty of blankets. The kitchen has cookware, dishware and utensils that are of a quality you would want if you were furnishing your own place. All the appliances looked almost brand new. There are games and DVDs if you need a diversion. The owners were very responsive and welcoming. The weather was cold and snowy but just hanging out with each other at the house turned out to be our favorite part of the trip! We all said we would love to come back here again next year!

Wonderful, peaceful stay

I didn't want to write a review because I would like to rent this again and don't want it to be booked up! Let me just say - this house is GREAT! Super clean, great location, peaceful and quiet but only 3 minutes from the hot springs. We stayed here when our rental for Salida fell through and I am so glad that happened so we could experience Pinons! First, Mike is a great host! So responsive and helpful. Second, the house is really well set up - the rooms are on one side and kitchen on the other - so if you have kids (or friends) that wake up in the middle of the night (ahem) or early, you can take them to the kitchen so no one else gets woken up. Third, so many wonderful little touches in the house - towels are soft, beds are great, little toiletries if you forgot something, supplies like sugar and oil, games and crayons for kids, etc. It's also got great land so you can sit on the deck (when it's not winter!) and enjoy the view or let the kids run around outside. As others have mentioned, there is very little internet - you need to do wifi calling - but it works in a pinch. So, if you are one of those weird people who work on vacation, this place isn't for you. We also liked the location because it was only 10 mins. longer to Monarch (than Salida house would be), and close to Buena Vista and Salida too. Book it, you, you won't regret it.

Comfortable, secluded and great views!

We have stayed at a few rental properties in this area and this was by far our favorite house to stay at. Comfy, great location, amazing views, clean and has everything you need. Thank you Mike and Teri, we will definitely be back to visit again!

Sometimes it’s the little things

The house itself was nice and well-appointed and the location is spectacular. But what made the rental a cut-above was the details. My wife was delighted at the number and quality of the bath towels. In the kitchen there was coffee and plenty of dish towels. Even quilted toilet tissue instead of the typical cheap stuff. My party really appreciated these extra touches..
