High on a hill in the private, gated community of Rams Hill, our 3,000 sq. ft. custom home takes full advantage of stunning views of the surrounding mountains and desert floor of Anza-Borrego State Park. Step inside and a soaring, beamed ceiling welcomes you to an open-concept living-dining entertainment space with soothing decor throughout, reflecting the desert's serenity. Gazing through a long bank of sliding glass doors, you'll spot a huge turquoise pool with large spa and spacious patio, inviting you outside to relax while enjoying those amazing views—day and night.

Borrego Springs is the only officially designated “Dark Sky Community” in all of California. Read the reviews of this home to “hear" the enthusiasm of prior guests as amazed by views of the Milky Way, constellations, meteor showers and far away nebulae, as the desert vistas, hiking opportunities and spring wildflowers!
All on one level, our home can comfortably sleep 6, with three roomy bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms (2 are en suites). The kitchen is very large and well equipped, serving a more formal dining room and pass-through bar as well as a casual eating area. A natural-stone gas fireplace stands ready to ward off the chill of a cool evening. The laundry room features a full-size washer & dryer, and there is room for two cars in the garage. (Note: All cars must be parked either in the garage or in the driveway; Rams Hill does not allow street parking.) Our home is fully walled and gated, with some grassy areas, making it suitable for a furry guest!*
You're only a short drive from all that Anza-Borrego State Park and the charming town of Borrego Springs itself, have to offer, but you also have the amenities of Ram's Hill at your disposal. From the award-winning Tom Fazio golf course and gorgeous clubhouse restaurant (please contact the pro shop for green fees and tee times; note that course and clubhouse are closed from Jul 1 - Nov 1) to tennis courts and an additional pool and spa within walking distance of the house, this is the perfect place to getaway as a couple, or with friends and family any time of the year!

Perfect Weekend in April

We made last minute plans for a weekend getaway with our family (Total - 6 of us) and dogs to drive to Rams Retreat @ Rams Hill. This was our second time staying at this residence and enjoyed every minute !!! The hosts are amazing and readily available if we needed anything, which we didn't; as the house and property are gorgeous and fully equipped with anything and everything we would need. We loved the pool & pool toys, jacuzzi, and bbq'd every night. The house was very clean, comfortable beds, with plenty of towels, for bath & pool. Kitchen has more than enough utensils, pots & pans, and drinkware. Could not ask for anything better !!! Love Rams Retreat. We already booked another stay and are definitely excited to return for another memorable family trip. Perfect location, gorgeous property and excellent stay !!!

Perfect getaway

This was our third stay at this house, this time for over six weeks. We absolutely love it here. Rams Hill is peaceful and quiet and the views from this house are breathtaking, regardless of the weather. There are many fantastic places to walk and hike in and around Rams Hill. Borrego Springs is about a 15 minute drive, if you are looking for basic shopping and restaurants. The house is set up so that the back yard is very private while still having spectacular views. The interior is spacious, comfortable and easy to live in. Several large sliding glass doors allow the lovely fresh desert air to flow through the house. The beds are comfortable, as is the other furniture. We cooked most of our meals and this house has a very well equipped kitchen. The back yard is beautiful with plenty of comfy seating and several tables. We ate almost every breakfast and lunch and a few dinners outside. The grounds, pool and hot tub were kept very tidy by weekly maintenance crews. We enjoyed star gazing in the hot tub almost every night. The smaller front yard is also very pretty, private and well tended. The house has a cozy gas fireplace which we used on several chilly evenings. We travel with two Cardigan corgis and they are in heaven at this house, constantly exploring the very secure front and back yards, chasing little lizards from bush to bush. Ted and Pam are the best hosts! They are extremely responsive when we have a question or if something needs attention or repair.

Quiet in the Desert

This is a great place to stay for quiet relaxation. Sit in the hot tub and enjoy the stars. Cook up dinner and eat around the fire. Minutes from Anza Borrego State Park for hiking, off-roading, and nature watching. Great communications with the owners for questions. I highly recommend this location for your Borrego Springs getaway!

Family get away

We had a great time. Cooked fun family meals in the beautiful well equipped kitchen. It was our first family get away with all our adult children. Excellent Weekend Get-A-Way

Our family and dogs loved the Rams Hill Retreat for the holiday ... a Beautiful location, a large home with all of the amenities, gorgeous views, and much more. Wonderful surrounding neighborhoods for walking, biking, and ending the day in the Spa. Very Clean and will definitely return for another weekend celebration. Ted and Pam were readily available and helpful with answering our questions as needed.

My Borrego Springs Go To

This home is my favorite place to stay in Borrego Springs. It offers up the best combination of comfort, amenities, views, location and quiet. Great kitchen for cooking as we ate all of our meals at the house. Why leave? The star gazing is amazing. I’m already looking forward to booking my fifth stay. Thank you!

Birthday desert weekend

I spent my birthday at the Ram's Hill retreat with two other couples. Our group has stayed in that house at least a half-dozen times in the past and we love it there. The house, the location, and the hosts couldn't be better! Pam and Ted are always helpful, informative, and accessible. Over the years we have seen the great improvements they have made to the house to make it more comfortable and inviting. We very much look forward to our next stay there!

PowerTrip oasis in the desert!

Pam & Ted's place is an oasis in the middle of the desert! They have everything you could ever need or imagine and instructions/directions for all amenities were well laid out. My family and I thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Desert fun

We enjoyed this place for star gazing and proximity to Anza Borrega State Park hikes. The owners were very attentive to any issues that came up and the house was supplied with everything one would need to make meals and spend time at the pool. The community is very quiet and the location is very serene.

Great Place for Stargazing!

House was great. Wish we could have used pool more.

Home had a great layout and had everything we needed. Wish we could have used the pool more. The pool vacuum did not work until the pool maintenance guy stopped in close to when we were leaving and then it started working. We let the owners know and were told it was on an automatic schedule which I am sure it was but it didn't clean until the pool maintenance guy came to do his weekly maintenance and the pool was too dirty to want to be in the water other than our feet.

Always a pleasure

You wouldn’t think going to the desert in the middle of June would be a good idea- but if you’re looking for a GREAT pool, perfect air conditioning, a beautiful house, an insane view, and absolute peace and quiet, this is when you want to come. Bonus: There’s a new cafe with Starbucks down the street at Casa del Zorro. We come here multiple times a year, and we always stay here. We love to eat at Carlee’s and get mud pie, we head up to Julian for food and shopping, we visit Font’s point, and of course we sit by the pool all day! Last, the hosts are kind and responsive. They are IDEAL. We just love it here.

Desert getaway

This is our 2nd time staying at this lovely home. We love its proximity to desert hiking and star gazing. The clubhouse has a good restaurant within walking distance and it’s a short drive into town for other restaurants and stores. We spent Memorial Day weekend floating in the pool and hanging out with my two adult daughters and their husbands. Great kitchen and supplies for making dinners together. We are already talking about next year’s trip!

Great house with great golf

This property had everything we needed for a golf getaway at Ram's Hill. Finishing the round and coming back to our own spa is the way to go. Communicaiton from the owners was excellent as well. And "checkout" was easy, just shut everything down and leave the keys. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful Property

Can not speak highly enough about this home… everything we needed, beautifully furnished, spacious, clean. Excellent proximity to golf course and pickleball courts. Accommodated our 4 adults, two teenage children and dog perfectly. Owner lovely to work with. Will stay again when visiting family in Borrego.

Awesome Meteor Showers

Well appointed property with everything one could think of in kitchen. Well insulated home warmed quickly and the hot tub was an amazing feature for evening meteor shower viewing.

My husband and I live just over the mountains in San Diego, and are actively engaged in and supportive of all that great city has to offer--especially Balboa Park. My husband still works full-time as consultant; I am retired from a career in communications, but serve on two non-profit boards, and continue to write and publish books (including children's books) on local topics. We've been married for over 40 years, have three sons, two daughters-in-law and three young grandsons, whom we love to spend time with! We have traveled extensively and stayed in many great vacation rentals--including overseas--over the years. We believe this is a great way to learn about and feel more a part of a new place.

Why they chose this property

We love the drive from San Diego through the back country and over the mountains before descending to the breathtaking views of the desert and finally the peace and serenity of Borrego Springs. Cares just drift away as we make that drive.
There is something magical, almost spiritual, about Borrego Springs that touches my soul. I'm not sure if it's the quality of the light, deep blue of the sky, shadows of the clouds on the mountains, the way the view changes throughout the day or the mind-bending views of the heavens at night. People come here for many different reasons. To escape winter and/or hectic lives elsewhere, enjoy the warm sunshine and desert bloom, hike, play golf or tennis, and, of course, for the phenomenal star-gazing.
We are enthusiastic new owners of this very special Ram's Hill home from which one is able to do all these things--or simply sit by the pool marveling over the views and reading a good book! We look forward to enjoying it ourselves for many years to come and sharing this special retreat with you, our guests.
