About this property

M-4 Cabin - Accommodates up to 6 and is pet friendly.

The M-4 cabin gets its name from Ross W Musselman who came to southeastern Utah in 1932. Ross was one of the most colorful of San Juan’s early cowboy promoters. In 1949 he moved his ranch from Boulder Utah to the Pack Creek area at the base of the LaSal Mountains. He continued to run cattle, host guests and take scenic trips for ten years. Musselman Arch in Canyonlands was named after him by The National Park Service. Today, Pack Creek Ranch retains the beauty and peace that first attracted him. Only 15 miles from Moab but a world apart from the bustle of town, the Ranch sits 2,000 feet above Moab offering a cooler, quiet retreat.

M-4 retains its log cabin feel and has a modern bath and kitchen – stocked with all the cookware you’ll need. It sleeps 6 with a queen bed in the main floor bedroom and another queen and two singles in the expansive loft. On cool nights there’s a fossil-studded rock fireplace to take the chill off. The cabin is surrounded with mature trees providing plenty of shade. The large, east-facing, front porch is ideal for grilling and rocking chairs provide a relaxing spot after a day of enjoying this amazing piece of Utah. The giant front lawn is the perfect place for kids to roam. WiFi included but we’re TV free.

The Ranch barns and pastures, including one with a small goat herd, retain the land’s ranching history and a spa and swimming pool (typically open between Memorial day and Labor day) provide relaxation and a cooling respite on hot days. Wild turkeys, deer, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, great horned owls frequent the property. We also have a large area set aside for parking gear trailers away from the cabins.

M-4 is dog friendly. There’s a $15 per night fee for 1 or 2 dogs with a maximum of 2. Dogs aren’t allowed without prior approval and guest agreement to the nightly fee. We require a credit card on file for reservations with pets.

Wonderful retreat away from the craziness of Moab.
Property could not have a more beautiful background as it sits against the La Sal Mountains. Quiet, peaceful while being rustic and modern at the same time. Wood burning fireplace was our favorite part of the property. Quiet and oeaceful with internet access and no television, which is what we wanted. It was a great place to stay as it was close enough to Moab and the parks, but far enough away to enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Definitely will be coming back again and again to the ranch.

LaSal cabin
It was good and had everything we needed. The field in front of the property was relaxing after a long day of hiking. It was fly season and they got a bit overwhelming inside the cabin but the owners responded immediately and dealt with them.

Beautiful Cabin
Beautiful rustic cabin in a quiet area in the hills of Moab. It is not far from the activities of Arches NP and Moab and was nice to get away from the busy city of Moab. The cabin was very clean. We were a group of 6 and the "kids" were 18, 17 ,15, and 12. There is only 1 bed room and the upstairs is a beautiful loft but is open to the common living space. All beds were very comfortable, bathroom was nice and enough hot water for 6 showers after a long day of hiking. My only disappointment was there was NO washer/dryer accessible for renters use There does appear to be one down in the basement (dryer vent noted on the outside of the house) but the door to the basement was locked. We were there for 4 nights and hiked everyday and assumed there would be laundry available, but it isn't listed as an amenity which I missed. We also enjoyed Ken's Lake which is on the way up to the property!

Unique cabin in the country
We wanted a place with character away from town lights for stargazing. This compound, which has a number of cabins, seemed to fit the bill. I fully expected that we would have to travel into the country to get there, which we did, arriving late at night and having to do a bit of sleuthing (there's a cabin map on the outside of a building). While I have bones to pick -- one outside light is motion activated and seems to stay on forever, thwarting stargazing, not to mention having the in-ground sprinkler system activate while we were standing in the yard looking at the stars! -- the place was great. Though we didn't use it, it appears that the enclosed woodstove takes skill to operate. Also note that communication was non-existent: we happened upon the sauna and pool by walking the compound. That said, if you don't mind driving twenty or so minutes south out of Moab, this is an actual rustic cabin at a place with a very interesting history, from native/settler legend to ranch to California doctor's vacation property to his son's dude ranch to hippie experiment to Vrbo rental unit. Night skywatching? We woke up before dawn and beheld Venus, a perfect crescent moon, Jupiter and Mars all lined up in a row, with the La Sal mountains on the horizon.

Sweet Cabin in a Beautiful Location
Our second time at the M4 cabin. Pack Creek Ranch is a lovely location well away from noise and tourist-density of Moab. Everything worked well: check in thru check out. We need to come back in cooler weather so that we can enjoy a fire in the woodstove/fireplace...

Great place for family in Moab
This was a wonderful place to stay in Moab with our family of 5. The cabin was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils, pots/pans, dishes, etc. The view of the mountains from the front porch is beautiful and my kids loved petting the goats every morning and exploring outside. It’s located about 10 minutes outside of Moab with lots of space between cabins. The only downside was that the hot tub was out of commission during our stay and we were really looking forward to a warm soak after hiking all day. Also be aware that Google maps will get you close to the cabin, but not to the front door; just keep driving down the road and look for the right hand turn for the ranch.

Christmas Getaway
Pack Creek Ranch (cabin M-4) was exactly what we expected! We went to enjoy a peaceful and quiet cabin away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Loved the fireplace and rustic setting, yet greatly appreciated the modern conveniences of power and running water and the village market, lol! Many of our needs were anticipated. I highly recommend a stay here! Noni

Cozy Cabin at the Base of the Mountains
This was a perfect getaway for our family the loft was perfect for our 5 & 7 year olds and bedroom was perfect for us. The fireplace and living/dining room are adorable and cozy. We had early morning walks where we saw almost 50 deer! Will definitely book here again!

The M-4 cabin struck the perfect balance between a historic log cabin and comfortable family rental. The setting is quiet and beautiful, but only a short distance from the heart of Moab.

Quiet and Quaint
Cabin was perfect size for us and in beautiful serene location. We didn't utilize it fully as we were out early and back late everyday. Really only showered and slept but were more than comfortable. The night sky was incredible. Would have been great if we had spent more time on the property and used the grill or fireplace but there was just too much to see and do around Moab. Could be better for a 2nd trip!

Cabin at the base of the mountains
What a beautiful place to stay. All the comforts of home. Just outside of the town of Moab by maybe 10 minutes at the base of the La Sal Mountains. Love the full kitchen so we didn’t have to eat out all the time. Goats right next door to talk to. Easy access to trails.

Peaceful and rustic
We loved the location on a working ranch at the foot of the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of Moab. The cabin had lots of rustic charm and met our needs with its updated kitchen and bathroom and cozy living room and bed. A few issues detracted from our stay. When we arrived, it was hard to figure out which cabin was ours based on the information we were provided. A map and accurate cabin identifier would have been helpful. There were also a couple of issues with cleanliness, which might have actually been due to the previous renters. A window had been left open, allowing hordes of flies to enter the house. Second, dishes, silverware, and pots and pans all had dried food on them and needed to be rewashed. Once we dealt with these issues, we did appreciate the cabin’s peacefulness and charm and very much enjoyed our stay.

Arrive before dark
After a long day of travel, we arrived at this remote location (11pm) using the GPS and the address provided in the latest confirmation. We could not locate the cabin, could not contact the owner because we had no cell service. After searching Pack Creek Rd for an hour, we finally gave up and found a room in town. My advice is to keep looking to find a less remote location. Highly NOT recommended.
