wonderful skiing trip

We are staying in this property for the second time. It is clean and comfortable, and has everything one needs. The major attraction is location - you can walk to slopes. This year there were lots of people, and finding parking was a real issue. So it was nice to avoid that!

Good place if you just going with friends to skii

The place is very good located, just 3 min to the place ski resort you can even walk. We had some cleaning issues but “VACASA” and the property manager responded quick and came to solve most of it. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen have everything you will need. Smart tvs in almost every room. This is my 4th time coming to the mountain and this is one of the best I’ve stayed

Mixed feelings!!

My family of 7 stayed for 3 nights. The first 2 nights there was no hot water!!!! I contacted them and they quickly sent someone out to look at it but it couldn’t be fixed. By the last night the problem resolved itself. I was told there would be a refund for my inconvenience but I still haven’t seen one! Also, when I arrived the dishwasher was full of clean dishes that were never emptied from the previous stay.

Grandfather mountain

We loved that it was close to Grandfather mountain state park; about 20 minutes. Highly recommend getting there when the state park opens. Enjoyed that our stay was convenient to restaurants and other towns to visit.

Awesome condo and experience!

We stayed at this condo just before Christmas and it was perfect for 2 couples and our young kids. We could have even had room for one more couple. The kids enjoyed playing in the cute loft. The beds were super comfy. The linens were nice and the kitchen had all the essentials. The house has lots of nice tech extras and great WiFi. Lovely patio and the perfect outdoor closet for storing skies and boots. Love the proximity to the ski resort as well as added attractions in the area like tubing and the alpine rollercoaster. My 6 year old son said this was the best trip of his life! We hope to visit again!

Find another place- not good for 8 people. Maybe 4

The property is old and not kept up. The mildew/mold smell is overpowering. It was so bad we had to leave and could not spend the second night there. Sheets and beds were clean but not the bedspreads or the throw carpets in the bathrooms. I had to clean the porch before it could be used. Not fun!

Great getaway!

We loved our stay at this property. It was very close to the ski resort and at the end of the day, it was a great place to cook dinner and relax. Due to Covid, we mostly ate in and the open floor plan was nice. We did have one question while we were there and the property company responded to us right away. Check in and check out was super easy. Overall, it was a wonderful place to get away from it all.

The condo was Nasty! Musty smell, broken, uncomfortable, broken , dated furniture.

It was the worst experience I had ever encountered renting a VRBO. It should definitely be taken off the website. Such an uncomfortable stay and waste of money!

Loved this place

Loved the layout of the condo, and the value we got with everybody having their own room. The main room-kitchen was perfect for us, as was the beautiful porch. The location could not have been better for a few days of hiking in the mountains, and the people we met there were great too. The only complaint I have is the mattress hurt my back, and others in my group said the same. Also we went in mid-August and were worried about not having AC, but its cool up in those mountains, and we opened the windows and had no complaints about that.

Great condo!!!

This was a fabulous rental. There are four bedrooms, one is a loft on the third floor, so we had even more space than we thought. The condo has everything you could need - like a pancake griddle! The recliners and couch in the living room are unbelievably comfy. The WiFi was fantastic - even with 7 of us using it (with multiple devices each...). Sugar Mountain is a great resort with a lot going on. And there’s a huge Food Lion six minutes away!!!

Very well-kept & supplied condo near the slopes

The condo was in excellent condition. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. Furniture was all comfortable, and the gas fire and baseboard heaters kept us nice & warm. Skiing is a 5-minute walk but is relatively easy to access. The bridge that crosses the creek will put you out right at the bottom of Easy Street. You have to drive down two fairly steep hills to get to the condo, so probably want 4WD or chains during winter. The parking lot did get salted, so it wasn’t icy when we left, but it could have been very difficult to get out of otherwise. Overall, this was a great place to stay, and we look forward to returning. The house was full of little extras (games, high chair, and even fire escape ladders under the upstairs beds). Unlike many rentals at Sugar that are clearly just intended for renting out to skiers and getting as many people in as possible, this one was actually liveable.

A memorable stay

The accommodation was clean and quite comfortable. It was a special getaway for our family. The boys were thrilled to sleep in the loft with plenty of more rooms to spare. Thank you for letting us stay at your cozy lodge!

Very good resort

It’s very good resort which met most of our expectations, location, size, cleanness, and etc. The service response is very quick and proactive. The only thing which is not very satisfied is they don’t provide some of the normal kitchen supplies, like food wrap film, napkins. So better to bring all you need if you would stay for several days and like cooking by yourself.

Beautiful surroundings. Cabin could use updates

The location of this cabin could not have been better. It is truly right around the corner from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. So much so that the homes at the end of the parking lot overlook the bunny slope with a trail that leads down to foot bridges that go over to the resort. We experienced a couple of days of heavy rain and then two days of snow and cold. If you're going to be there in snowy weather, you REALLY DO NEED 4 wheel drive or snow chains. We had to wait til the parking lot thawed out to be able to get up the hills at the end of the driveway and out onto the main road. The main road was well cleared and no problem at all. The cabin itself was comfortable with two king beds, one queen bed, and a loft with two single beds. The challenges were that both of the bathrooms are very small - single sinks and old style showers with sliding glass doors. The kitchen was also very small. We had 4 adults and 4 kids. The kitchen table only seats 6 and it is IN the kitchen. The den will only seat 5 comfortably between two couches. The stairs down from the parking lot can be slippery when wet or snowy. And the parking lot only has one official parking space per cabin. We had two cars and were fortunate that all the cabins weren't rented and there was space to squeeze in our other car without making anyone mad. Overall, the cabin was great as a place to sleep and eat, but if you're looking for anything luxury this probably isn't the place. All of the decor, wallpaper, and furnishings are 90's ish though very comfortable and relaxed. We really enjoyed our stay in Sugar Mountain, and our time in the cabin was really fun. If you're staying in Sugar Mountain or Banner Elk, be sure to eat at the Painted Fish restaurant. We went twice and it was delicious, well priced for a resort town, and casual enough for our little kids. Enjoy!
