Family with young kids

Great stay. Closest rental/ walk to the lodge, was a perfect rental for a family with young kids. Everything was better than expected. Owners definitely do upkeep and repairs for the rental. Our stay was 15 degrees outside, provided heaters kept us warm in every room. Definitely appreciated the quick running dryer for young-kids ski gear.

Great Stay!

We really enjoyed the convenience of this house right by the resort and at the end of a green run. The only negative is a few wall heat vents didn't work and a few plugs. You have to be okay with space heaters and lamp lighting. We made it work!

Very Very Old Property

This property is very old and out of date! The deck on the property looks like you could fall threw it at any time. Honestly the whole house needs to be gutted and remodeled from top to bottom!!!!!

The house has a great view, my evening son had great days. unfortunately some points of the house need to be fixed/changed!!! the master bedroom bathroom has a clogged bathtub and the curtains have been washed and are super short and don't block the light.

Ruined anniversary

We left early booked two days and left as soon as we woke up one the first morning and will not be returning, this is my anniversary weekend and I'm pregnant so on top of it not being clean (half eaten biscuit in the fireplace, candy wrappers and clothes left under the bed) and the steep walk that is completely unstable, the deck looks and feels weak. This property isn't intended for the elderly, pregnant woman, small children and anyone with any type of orthopedic conditions.

Not suited for in individuals with mobility issues

Over all the property is great inside. However, there are no trail markings from the parking space to the unit. It is down the staircase and around behind two other units. There isn't a marked proper path. We had to hike in over roots, uneven surfaces and overexposed wires and lose stones to get to the property. You enter in the basement and have to climb up a tiny spiral staircase to get to main living area. We came back in the dark and had to use our phones as flashlights to find our way in. Once inside it was a lively place. But you need to be young and agile to get into the property itself.

BEWARE not as listed

Where do I even begin. The booking process was a nightmare due to Vacasa requiring a “identity verification” or else my reservation would be cancelled and nonrefunded. Their online verification system told me my birthday was incorrect so I had to call customer support which took an hour. Getting to the house is also a nightmare. It is not clearly marked at all and you can not see the home from the parking spot because it is down a embankment and behind 2 other houses. If you have any kind of health problem or can not walk on uneven ground I do not recommend this place to you. There is no hand rails after you get so far down. The screens were completely out of the screen doors so we had to put those back in ourself. This house has NO AIR CONDITIONING. It is not stated in the listing so just know if it’s summer when you stay (like me) you will have a heat stroke in the house. The porches haven’t been swept off in a long time. There was still last years leaves on the porch making it extremely slick if they are wet. This home is nothing like the listing. The Vacasa customer support is extremely rude and not willing to help. They do not care that it is extremely dangerous to get to and from the home and they are not willing to help get you to something safer.

Will be back

Well stocked and plentiful in all the basics. If you have any problems, staff are on site within minutes. It is an awesome place to stay, more exclusively in regards to ski in/ ski out. Heating the space is difficult and at times overly hot. Excellent for kids over 3 and ideal location for first time skiers!

Worst customer service ever

Cabin was inaccessible for parking, even after calling to verify. (had an elderly person with us that uses a cane. Had to walk down a set of steps - that the rails on the side fell over and then walk thru unlighted woods (not a path) to get to it. Customer service was awful. Started talking to them at 4 pm - was told someone would get back with us in 1 hour - to see about moving us to another cabin, no response. called back - same response and same no contact. did this until 8 pm and we finally had to leave. received an email at 1:30 am stating that a full refund would be given. 2 weeks later - call them and someone says they will issue the credit. Then they only give a part of the credit due. Disputing charges with credit card company now for the balance.

Great location on the slopes!

This was a great house right on the slopes, closest home to the main lodge where you rent equipment and get lift tickets. Overall we had a fantastic stay! One thing to note, the access from the house is a little steep (and muddy in March) getting on the slope but there is a path around some other houses that is more easily accessible that starts you a little higher on the slopes. It is also a little trek from where you park your car which may be something to consider for loading/unloading but we actually did not even need to leave over the four days of our stay so this wasn’t an issue. Our whole family had a blast and we are planning to make it an annual trip!

Awesome slopesider

We've stayed at several slopesiders at Sugar and this was our favorite so far! It's literally the first one at the base and right on the field so great for sitting out on balcony and watching everyone. Other than the fact the washing machine didn't seem to be working at the time, we loved everything else and had an amazing time! Would have given it a 5 if it weren't for that.

Ski in/ ski out

We had a fabulous time. It was right on the slope for us to ski in and ski out whenever we liked. It was the perfect set up for our family of 5.

Great location to ski slope

Great location to the ski slope and lodge. A better walkway from the parking spot to the home would be nice and there was no cable working during our visit, but the tv was able to stream services. The outside porches had not been shoveled and had a few feet of snow and ice, but property was in overall good condition. We're a family of 5 and our kids loved it. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Fun getaway in the mountains

I really enjoyed the cozy, quiet environment. The place could use some maintenance, but overall I had an amazing time! Beautiful view of grandfather mountain from the deck.

Great location for exploring

The roundhouse is comfortable and well-located. It’s not as isolated as it looks in the pictures, and you can hear noise from the surrounding houses and the ski resort. It’s a quick drive to downtown Banner Elk and central to other regional places of interest (hikes, swimming holes, rafting companies). The beds are comfortable, but more lighting would have been good—there’s hardly any overhead lighting. The kitchen is small but it’s good for minimal cooking. Bring your own chairs for the balcony.

Not as advertised

This property is not as it is listed. It is much less updated, and it is dirty. Also it was advertised as having 3 twin beds when there were only two. There were bugs in the queen bed and the hot water barely worked. Overall the property was very disappointing.
