About this property

A loch side property with stunning views located in a walker's paradise.

“Beautiful lochside property “

We invite you to experience our delightful holiday home, suitably named “Cronan-Na-Mara”, which translates from the Gaelic to “The Murmering of The Sea”. If you are in search of peace, tranquillity and spectacular views over Loch Duich and the mountains of Kintail then look no further.

This south facing detached property is situated on its own secluded plot directly on the shores of Loch Duich. Open the front door and you are a few metres from the water, greeted with striking and uninterrupted panoramic views.

Location:

The cottage is situated in the small village of Inverinate on the north shore of Loch Duich in the Kintail/Lochalsh area of the Scottish Highlands. The location is quite literally a walker’s / outdoor pursuits paradise with hill walking, climbing, water sports and shore walks right on the door step. The cottage is a perfect base to experience everything that the area has to offer and is a fantastic place to relax and unwind in following a day in the outdoors..

Kintail and Lochalsh is one of the most popular areas for walking and climbing in the Scottish Highlands. Kintail itself is famed for its classic mountain ridge walks. The Five Sisters and the South Glen Shiel Ridge are particular favourites of Munro baggers, whilst The Saddle is one of the most magnificent mountains in all Scotland. Closer to Skye is the Lochalsh peninsula between the shores of Loch Duich and Loch Carron. This area offers varied walking with villages such as Plockton as well as the region's main town at Kyle of Lochalsh. Across the dramatic Mam Ratagan pass is the remote and secluded Glenelg peninsula, a tranquil and peaceful haven far from busy routes.

The area is rich in wildlife and with some patience and determination you will be able to see sea otters playing on the shore of Loch Duich and golden eagles soaring around the mountain peeks. There are also deer, pine martin, badgers and wild goats to be seen. There is good fishing locally both in the rivers and sea. Nearby is the Isle of Skye which can be accessed via the Skye Bridge.

Please note that a car is highly recommended to experience the Scottish Highlands. Travel times to some key locations and amenities are highlighted below:

Fantastic lochside cottage.
We were so lucky to have full sunshine for four days of our stay. Loch and mountain views were spectacular. So much wildlife around. We had our kayak with us and were out on the water before breakfast.

Amazing house with breathtaking surroundings
We spent a week in September and it was an amazing time. The house has everything you need for a family and there are dozens hiking trails around it. It was a pleasure to communicate with the owner as she replies very fast and with all the information. Highly recommended!

"a little slice of heaven!"
we very much enjoyed our stay! this cottage was perfectly located for exploring the Isle of skye and surrounding areas. the scenery was beautiful, and we saw an otter one day swimming out back! (as well as a beautiful double rainbow!) Joy was very helpful and responsive to all of our needs. I would defiantly recommend this cottage to anyone who would like to explore the area.

Beautiful view every morning
The most amazing thing about this property was the beautiful view of the Loch every morning and every evening. You could sit and watch it for hours. It was too cool to use the outside amenities, but inside had everything you could possibly need. We fixed several breakfasts and a couple dinners in the kitchen. The other eating establishments were only a few minutes drive, and everywhere we went were friendly and delicious. We used this as our base to visit the Isle of Skye, and it was very convenient. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful Scenery
The property was everything as advertised, the location was magnificent. As I am nearly 80 the entertainment options are a bit limited but my son found nurseries, potteries, the Isle of Skye, Lock Lomond and chocolate shops and bakeries so we had a lovely week despite poor weather. The people are very friendly and we felt very welcome.

Perfect stay!
Wow! What a beautiful house! A perfect stay from start to finish. It helped that we had a heatwave but the location and view from this property were spectacular. Felt much more spacious than the photos show and you just can’t capture how beautiful the loch is. We went out kayaking in front of the house and saw porpoises up close, enjoyed the restaurant recommendations too! We will be back!

Idyllic setting!
This cottage is wonderful, specially its location right on Loch Duich. We never tired of looking at the surrounding mountains in the changing light. It is located near to the Skye bridge and our sightseeing drives took us past the lovely Eilean Donan Castle a couple of miles up the road every day. The house is updated and well-furnished, spotless, and the kitchen equipped with everything you might need. But mostly, come here for the views!

Wonderful loch side property . Great to see the snow topped mountains.
Lovely peaceful area with an amazing drive through the mountains on the way. The bungalow was well maintained and perfect for relaxing. Fabulous walks. We had a great time. Glenelg a short drive away has a great pub and views to the Isle of skye. We did a boat trip and saw seals. Amazing! Remember to stock up on groceries as the nearest co-op is about 12 miles away. We shopped before arriving so worked out well. Would definitely recommend this lovely place.

a great base to explore the Highlands
We had a lovely holiday at Cronan Na Mara cottage. It's right in the shore with good views of the loch and surrounding mountains (covered in snow when we were there). The shower was great, really powerful and hot and the bed in the front bedroom was very comfy (assume the other beds were the same). The location was great for exploring, we drove around Skye, Torridon, Loch Ness and up to Ullapool. On our travels we saw lots of deer, a couple of sea eagles and an otter swimming in the loch in front of the cottage. Joy provided lots of useful tips and information, and her communication was excellent.

Amazing views, comfortable house, great base for days out
Excellent property, had everything you need for self catering. Relaxing, comfortable house. Kids loved it. Great WiFi, comfy beds, best shower ever. Loved view out window. Photos do not do it justice. Take all you need with you as limited supermarkets. Great for days out. Went to Ullapool, Skye,Plockton. Had great week of weather. Wish we had canoes/wetsuits to use the Loch literally on doorstep. Thank you Joy.

Why they chose this property

Cronan -na -Mara is a stones throw from the shores of beautiful Loch Duich and offers spectacular views to the five sisters of Kintail .
