About this property

Largest Private Pool on Island, 3600 sq ft offering, Privacy, Luxury and Views

This 3600 sq ft house is located on the marsh, overlooking the InterCoastal waterway and just a short walk to the ocean. From the large deck on the back of the home, your views are of nature at work with the ebb and flow of the tides and the interplay of the native wildlife. You will have perfect privacy. The house is situated at an angle and the nearest homes are but distant, picturesque properties.

"Just Coastin" is a unique property -- really a home and a half! There is a main house with a separate, but attached "guest house" or annex. If you have some people with you who tend to run on either an earlier or later schedule than everyone else, this is the place for you! The guest house has a downstairs living area with a large television, DVD player and full bath. There is an upstairs loft with a queen bed and sitting area. The view from this bed is amazing!

The main house has four bedrooms -- two master bedrooms with queen beds and huge bathrooms with large showers. The two additional bedrooms have twin beds. One twin room has the beds built in, resembling those aboard a ship! The twin rooms share a large bath with a tub/shower.

Downstairs there is a separate television room with a large sectional couch There is a pull-out full-size bed for additional sleeping -- best for small children. There are no linens provided for this bed. There are pocket doors to this room which help keep the television/movie sounds contained. There is another large living area with matching leather sofas flanking a gas fireplace. Behind the sofas, there is an additional seating area with chairs for reading. The kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and an electric cooktop. The cupboards are well stocked with dishes, glasses, pots and pans and additional cookware, baking dishes, etc. There are two half baths downstairs.

Off the main living area, there is a large, lovely screened porch. This porch has a sofa, glider love seat and two single glider chairs. The ocean provides an almost constant breeze and you will find this is a lovely place to sit and chat, play games or read a book. At night, the screens keep the bugs at bay while you enjoy the outdoors.

The entire back side of the home has a large deck which has seven rocking chairs along with an additional table and chairs for meals outside. This is where your crowd will congregate. Those seeking shade will find it here, but can still feel part of whatever is going on poolside while rocking away. Upstairs, the two master bedrooms have balconies which overlook the pool area and marsh and have adirondack chairs.

The backyard pool is the highlight of the house! The largest private pool on the island, it is forty feet long and eight feet deep at the deep end. You and your guests can enjoy playing pool games, getting in a real swim or just floating! Lounge chairs and tables surround the pool. If it gets too hot, there is a shade structure and additional shade available under the deck. A gas grill is provided to help you create those memorable beach week meals.

There is an outside shower with hot and cold water underneath the house with an enclosed changing area. Additionally, there is a large guest closet which can hold your chairs, umbrellas, bicycles and other toys. Inside the closet you will also find a charcoal grill available for your use. There are places here for everyone and everything you can think of!

"Just Coastin" is located in Pointe West, a private subdivision on the western end of the island. Pointe West amenities included a private walkway to the beach. The beach is wide and sandy and never gets crowded. There is also a neighborhood dock with a fishing platform for you to enjoy.

If you have any questions about our property, please feel free to call me. I can be reached at 919-602-3250. When you are staying here at the beach, the property is managed by Donna Melville. She can be reached at 910-660-3955. Donna lives year-round just off the island. Her husband, James Lutz, is an amazing handyman. It's so nice to have such a valuable resource available should anything break down during the season!

Amazing Retreat!

We had 3 families stay for the week at Holden and had a fantastic time. The house and annex were lovely and are in a beautiful neighborhood, with private access to the beach, but the showstopper for us was the huge pool with the amazing view of the marsh and ICW. We spent tons of time outside watching the kids swim during the day and stargazing at night! Ann was a delight to work with and so communicative! We really enjoyed our week at the beach and would definitely stay here again!

Nothing private or peaceful about our stay

I believe the listing said unparalleled privacy but that is not the case. Enjoying the pool was impossible with construction work on both sides of the house from 7am to 7pm. They paved the neighborhood with no alternative parking suggestions and no notice that this would be going on prior to our stay. Some of our group were not able to get back to the property while others were not able to leave. The paving went on for 2 days. The construction workers were staring at the girls at the pool which made it uncomfortable. We ended up leaving a day early. We should really get a partial refund.

What a great house and location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fabulous house. The pool area is beautiful and the view of the marsh breathtaking. Even saw a buck wading through it! Anne was wonderful working with us as Hurricane Ian came through on the day of our scheduled arrival. Would definitely book this house again!

We loved our stay at the house. The view is absolutely amazing and we loved the pool.

The house is equipped with everything you need. There were spices, plenty of pans for cooking, a high chair, a booster seat, and a pack and play. Plenty of space for everyone. We loved having the annex as it was an area to hang out without waking up the babies. The view is very relaxing. Very quiet and you don’t even realize your neighbors are there. We hope to come back soon!

Amazing home in Holden Beach!

We had a fun & relaxing week at this beautiful, spacious, comfortable home in Holden Beach! I hope to return! The pictures do not do justice to how awesome this place is! Very private location, not far from the beach if you don’t mind a short walk which is offset by all you get. Also, very close private access to intracoastal waterway with large boat dock. Starting with the house, the layout is very conducive to a large group and ease of fluid indoor & outdoor living. Wonderful marsh views. All fixtures, furniture & decor are very nice. Beds were comfortable, kitchen with everything for cooks, ample TVs all with Roku, lots of bathrooms, surprise amenities / kid games / etc, space for people to be together - or apart. All bedrooms require ability to climb stairs. The ‘annex’ where our teenagers stayed was, as they said ‘spectacular’ - downstairs living room, upstairs loft bedroom, also full bath & big ice maker. It does have a separate exterior entrance from the main house but it’s so close it feels like a part of the same house, and I felt comfortable about it as a mother of responsible teenagers. Best screen porch & best outdoor shower I’ve ever seen in a beach house. Only one fridge & dishwasher, but enough for us. Pool was amazing, BIG, lovely stone tile surround, jumping rock at the deep end. Much of the pool is 8 ft deep with a smaller shallow end. Great fun for teenagers & kids to play games, good pool light at night. Outdoor closet included lots of beach & pool toys which were a hit with the kids. Gas grill. Many decks, secure access to pool so little ones can’t get in. Access to the dock on the intracoastal waterway was a draw for a recreational paddleboarder who wanted to try the ICW & people in our party who like to fish. The 17 yr old caught a huge flounder. If you paddle, watch the tide, wind & wake - was not as calm / relaxing on the ICW as Outer Banks on the soundside! Just walking down there even if you don’t fish etc is an adventure worth taking, the 7 yr old said there were ‘crabs infinity’ on a morning walk. Use bug spray down there! We had friends staying oceanfront so we didn’t use the oceanfront gate, but it wasn’t far to reach, I’d bring a beach cart if I walked it or just drive to the end of the road to drop stuff off easily. Good & helpful communication with lovely owner & property manager. Thank you, Ann & Gail! We had a wonderful vacation. I could go on, but back to reality…

Best family house ever!

There isn't enough space here to adequately describe this property except to say that it is by far the most amazing place we've ever stayed. The house itself has everything you could need and is beautifully decorated. There is a screened porch, a pool that is amazing, an annexed area perfect for those who may need privacy and owners who are top notch. Perfection.

Amazing house and location!

This house is hands down the best rental we have ever stayed in. It was extremely clean and had a perfect floor plan. It also has a well stocked kitchen and had everything we needed. The pool was absolutely fabulous and the privacy and view were amazing! We spent just as much time in the pool as we did the beach! There is a lot of wildlife to see and beautiful sunsets. There is also a private nature trail for the neighborhood that was very nice. The walk to the beach was only 4 minutes and has private beach access. The separate annex was perfect for our teens who have different sleep schedules than the adults. The owner communicated with me before we arrived and was very helpful in answering all of our questions. And extremely personable. This house is in a quiet neighborhood at the end of a cul de sac so no traffic. We will definitely stay here again! I would give more than 5 stars if I could. It’s truly a gem.

Amazing home and closer to the ocean than I thought!

This house was BY FAR my favorite house we have vacationed in yet. Very spacious, clean, well stocked, and the pool/deck/backyard were just amazing. Also, the downstairs tv room was not pictured, but was super convenient for some "down time" for the smaller kids to relax in while the grown ups still laughed and caught up. All around amazing property! And being at the end of a stretch of two cul-de-sacs was perfect for little kid bike riding. What a great experience we had at Just Coastin'!

A wonderful place!

The location of Just Coastin' is what makes this house special. It's at the end of a cul-de-sac, bordered on both sides by vegetation filled lots, overlooking wetlands with the intercostal canal in the distance. It's a peaceful, very private, lovely setting. The house is well-designed, the kitchen well-equipped, and the beds comfortable. The large pool provides endless hours of entertainment for all, and there's a large shaded area under the upstairs deck to relax out of the sun. Along with the house comes entry to the neighborhood dock, reached by a short trek through the woodlands and the marsh. There, you can fish or crab, launch a kayak or paddleboard, or just hang out watching the bountiful wildlife of the wetlands. Everything about this property is guaranteed to give you an unforgettable vacation!

A little bit of heaven

Tranquility starts as soon as you arrive. The house is at the end of a culdesac with empty lots on either side providing exceptional privacy. Waking up to a beautiful view of the expansive marsh is breathtaking. It is a short walk to a private pristine beach and the house has a pool to relax around at the end of the day. There is also a porch overlooking the pool on which you can enjoy an afternoon cocktail and unwind. The four bedroom house has a tv in each room as well as a main floor tv room with a large screen tv. The kitchen has a full complement of utensils and appliances. As a bonus, the house has a separate annex with an additional bedroom that can also be used as a quiet place to work, if necessary. On the whole, in all my years of going to the beach, this house truly has it all. I cannot wait until I can return.

Great homes(s) with incredible pool and perfect beach access!

Great vacation! Quiet neighborhood with private beach access, which means the beach is not busy, even during a popular Holiday week. Having a "second home" really helps when the younguns (or the adults!) need some quiet down time. We spent so much time in the pool! I can't stress enough how wonderful the pool is! We didn't get sheets for the pullout couch...called Property Mgr and set of sheets were delivered immediately. Have stayed here two years in a row and booked next year. :)

Our Favorite Rental on Holden Beach!

We have been taking family vacations at Holden Beach for close to 30 years now, and have rented many houses all over the island during that time. This is our favorite by far! The house itself is well built, well maintained, well equipped, and has lots of amenities including the huge, private in-ground concrete pool (I think the largest on the island). Great outdoor areas include an outdoor sink for the fisherman, showers to rinse the sand off after a trip to the beach, plenty of deck area with rocking chairs in the shade or lounge chairs by the pool for working on a tan or move under the beautiful arbor for shade. Hang your hammock under the deck and snooze while feeling the sea breeze. Gas grill is provided by the pool for grilling burgers, steaks or whatever to feed the family. There is never a dull moment. Watch boats, both big and small cruise down the waterway. Incredible views with lots of wildlife to observe while relaxing on one of several multi-level decks or screened porch. During this recent stay we saw deer including a fawn, coyote, an alligator, rabbits, a couple of green snakes, and more. If you want to fish, you have access to a private dock after enjoying the winding nature trail to get there. There is a little bit of fun for everyone! The owner is super nice and very responsive to questions, emails, etc. We look forward to going back next summer to make some more family memories! Highly recommended!

Absolutely the most beautiful view in Holden Beach! Pool is amazing. Proximity to beach is great!

The house is spectacular! Very well equipped kitchen, better than my own home!! It is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. We were 10 adults, 2 toddlers and an infant and we never felt crowded. The pool area is amazing. The kids spent more time there than at the beach! The views are spectacular from the awesome decks. We totally enjoyed every square inch of this amazing property!

Just Coastin - Awesome Home

Ann & Bob we had an amazing time at your home in Holden Beach. It was perfect for our family. We spent the week with our two daughters, their husbands, their children and my sister. To spend an entire week with our grandchildren was awesome. Your home has spectacular views, awesome swimming pool, which our two oldest grandsons Trip 2 & Parker 2-1/2 thoroughly enjoyed. You couldn't get them out. The two little ones - 11 month old Olivia and 7 month old Declan loved the pool as well. Parker and Trip loved sleeping in the "boat" twin beds...it was priceless to hear them talk and giggle when we put them to bed. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you might need to prepare meals. The highchair, booster seats and pack n play came in quite handy too! The deck and screened in porch facing the marsh was great for relaxing and watching the deer as they moved about...and of course having drinks and appetizers before dinner. It was an amazing vacation and we thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. A vacation we will always remember.

Perfect Family Beach House

We've been coming to Holden Beach for over 30 years for a family reunion and have finally found the perfect rental for our immediate family. This is our second year working with Ann and couldn't be happier - already reseved for next year. My grandchildren cannot wait to get back to "our" beach house because they are so comfortable and have so much fun in the pool. The kitchen is the best equipped we have ever worked in and the guest house for the grandparents is a wonderful option. The instant response from Ann's property manager is one of our favorite features. We used to say that we would only stay oceanfront, but one year at Just Coastin' and we are converts to the marsh view and peaceful setting.

Weekend fun

The home was beautiful with everything our family needed. Fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds for a good nights rest. The views of the marsh were breath taking. With a short walk we could be at the beach and the covenience of the nature walk and pier allowed us to experience any water sport we chose. We hope to be able to visit again.

Amazing house

The views are amazing throughout the house and especially from the beautiful pool. The beach is a very easy/close walk (even with ALL of our beach equipment!) and the beach is a wide beautiful beach . The owner, Ann, was extremely accommodating and a great host. We loved our stay at Just Coastin' and would return again.

About the host

Host profile image
We are the parents of four adult children -- three now married -- and all of us love going to Holden Beach to rest, relax and play.

Why they chose this property

Holden Beach has been the location of our family reunion for over 30 years. In 2010 we finally decided to find a permanent place to call home when we are able to visit.

Holden Beach is a quiet, unspoiled place with wide sandy shores and uncrowded beaches. Here you and your family can set up a tent or umbrella, place your chairs and towels, coolers and picnic items and spend hour after hour chatting, reading, sleeping, shelling, swimming or just enjoying nature. There are so few people sharing the beach at our private access point, you will be able to spend your vacation time with the people you love, not strangers who also happen to have chosen the same week to vacation.

If you have golfers in your midst, there are many courses available to play. My husband and sons love to get up very early and hit the links before it gets too hot and also allow their day to included some beach or pool time in the afternoon.

Myrtle Beach and Wilmington are each about an 40 minutes to an hour away. Each provides lots of shopping opportunities and access to an enormous number of additional golf courses. There is abundant nightlife there also -- something that is not readily available at Holden.

What makes this property unique

As much as we love whiling away the hours listening to the waves, there are some days when the beach is not as hospitable as one would like. When the wind off the water kicks the sand onto you and your towels or when the air is just a bit too chilly or the flies are out, these are the days when your really understand the advantage of the home off the oceanfront and by the marsh. This home has the prettiest pool and pool area around. There are no homes that overlook the back of the property, so you and your guests can enjoy the pool and marsh view in complete and total privacy. Away from the wind, you can stay warm and protected. It it's too hot, there is shade under the deck and you can always just jump in the water! This home also has a beautiful screened porch with exceptionally comfortable furniture. You may start to read your book there and end up taking a nap!

The marsh provides a constantly changing view of nature. Here you can see all sorts of species of water birds. Deer and their offspring can provide entertainment as you watch them frolic among the reeds. The rise and fall of the tides can be marked by the presence or absence of the small bodies of water among the marsh grasses.

If fishing is your thing, you can go out to the neighborhood dock and fish or crab. (Be sure you have the appropriate license! These can be obtained at the pier or in the surf shops.) If you have brought or rented a kayak or canoe, you can put them in the water and paddle about. There really is always something to do!
