THE COTTAGE HAS BEEN LOVINGLY RESTORED. IT IS A TWO STORY LEVEL HOUSE WHICH SLEEPS 6 PEOPLE IN THREE BEDROOMS. IT IS CENTRALLY HEATED USING BIOMASS WOOD PELLETS. IT HAS ORIGINAL OAK BEAMS COUNTRY COTTAGE FURNISHINGS AND VELUX WINDOWS WITH BLACKOUT BLINDS. THE MASTER BEDROOM HAS A LARGE DOUBLE BED, A BUILT IN WARDROBE AND A CHEST OF DRAWERS, AND TELEVISION. THE SECOND BEDROOM HAS A COTTAGE STYLE DOUBLE IRON BED STEAD A SMALL CHEST OF DRAWERS AND A WARDROBE. THE THIRD BEDROOM HAS A DOUBLE BED WITH CHEST OF DRAWERS AND WARDROBE. THE COTTAGE HAS BEEN RESTORED TO A HIGH SPECIFICATION WITH ORIGINAL FEATURES PRESERVED. THE SMALL SHOWER ROOM AND TOILET UPSTAIRS HAS A COSY QUAINT FEEL. PORCELAINE SINK AND TOILET .
DOWNSTAIRS, THERE IS ANOTHER QUAINT BATHROOM WITH TOILET, SHOWER , BATH AND FULLY EQUIPPED WITH EXTRACTOR FANS A LOVELY BATHROOM CABINET WITH SOCKET FOR SHAVER ETC.
THE KITCHEN IS FITTED WITH FRENCH GREY CABINETS , , FRENCH DOORS TO ENABLE GUESTS TO MOVE OUT ONTO A SMALL PATIO AREA TO EAT OUTSIDE IF DESIRED. THERE IS A STRPPED PINE KITCHEN TABLE WITH OLD RESTORED KITCHEN CHAIRS. IT IS FULLY EQUIPPED WITH DISH WASHER,ELECTRIC COOKER/HOB WITH EXTRACTOR FAN, WASHING MACHINE , AND FRIDGE FREEZER. LIGHTING IS ALL LED.
THE LIVING ROOM IS OF MODERATE SIZE, WITH BEAMS, FRENCH DOORS TO THE GARDEN AND PATIO AREA, A FIREPLACE WITH AN ELECTRIC FIRE OF WOODBURNER STYLE, A THREE SEATER SETTEE WITH LOOSE COVERS FOR CLEANLINESS AND TWO LEATHER CHAIRS. THERE IS A PIANO FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PIANO PLAYING ABILITY OR FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO TRY. THE ROOM IS AGAIN OF CUMBRIAN COTTAGE STYLE AND ATMOSPHERE. VIEWS FROM THE FRENCH DOORS ARE OF GARDEN AND IN THE DISTANCE, SOLWAY COAST AND THE SCOTTISH HILLS. THERE IS A PEBBLED YARD BEYOND THE PATIO AREA. THERE IS A SMALL GARDEN WHICH SURROUNDS THE PATIO AREA . .THERE IS ALSO A BARBEQUE AREA. THERE IS A SHED FOR BIKES TO BE STORED AND FOR REPAIRS TO BE CARRIED OUT BY VISITORS IF NEEDED. THE AREA IS A WORKING AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL REGION. THERE ARE FARM SHOPS IN THE AREA.

Quiet family holiday
Weather was bad for the first few days, but the cottage was lovely and cosy. We stovked up on food and enjoyed some family time. When weather improved we were able to enjoy several locations. It was a lovely qiuet lication perfect for de-sttessing, helped by the ducks.

Beautiful Cottage with Wonderful Host
The cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean, very comfortable, well equipped, and spacious with 3 bedrooms snd two bathrooms. I would describe it as a little gem with oodles of character. Eileen and Richard are wonderful hosts. Such lovely people and gave great tips about where to go and where best to park. Got to mention Humphrey, Maple and Syrup - the adorable ducks! The cottage is in a great location to see Cumbria, the Lake District, Northumberland, and Dumfries & Galloway. Absolutely loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer. We are planning on booking another stay!

Lily Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay here. Eileen and Richard were so welcoming, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our little chats. The cottage was very clean, cosy, comfortable and well equipped. We will definitely be back for a longer visit.

Lovely short break in perfect cottage
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lily Cottage. Well equipped, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. The hosts were perfection and we discovered several gems (salvage yard/plant nursery/private swimming pool!) that we'd otherwise have probably overlooked. We'd love to return!

Lovely little cottage. Very clean, tidy and well cared for. All we needed for a short break. Owners very friendly and views over Solway firth are a bonus. Would definitely visit again.

This homely cottage was perfect for our stay, it was very clean, well presented and equipped with good quality appliances. Eileen was the perfect hostess providing information about the area and a friendly chat, homemade scones and a bottle of fizz to help celebrate our daughter’s graduation.

Home-from-home
Lily Cottage has been beautifully converted, and Eileen and Richard's attention to detail makes it a real "home-from-home". It was an ideal base for us for Carlisle and the Solway Coast. Highly recommended!

Just perfect
The cottage is in a beautiful, quiet village not far from lovely places to visit. What made our stay so very special was the friendliness of the owners, Eileen and Richard, who could not do enough to make us feel welcome. It was the one of the most relaxing, happy and enjoyable holidays we've had. We look forward to our next stay at Lily Cottage.

Beautiful cottage
Such a beautiful cottage that is so well fitted out. We had such a lovely welcome from Eileen and Richard, with fresh scones all laid out for us. Perfect location for us as it was lovely and quiet, and such a beautiful view over to Scotland. Cant recommend this cottage enough, we will come back please! Thank you

The host had provided excellent basics like bread and milk as well as delicious extras. The facilities were efficient like the clothes washing facilities and the bathrooms. The decor was delightful although the street frontage was not easy to recognise or welcoming.

Our HOSTS at Lily Cottage
A bit hard to find but well worth it when we got there. Our hosts could not do enough to please us. They were absolutely brilliant. Also their knowledge and recommendations of the area were spot on.The cottage itself was immaculate and all the appliances and furnishings were 1st class. And as an aside Josephine and the ducks were a delight.

Home from home
Beautiful cottage, spectacular attention to detail which made our stay extra special. Eileen and Richard perfect hosts and made us very welcome. Loved the four ducks and the wee garden at back and the ongoing transformation of their further outdoor space. Thanks for use of balcony to enjoy the sunset over Solway Firth. We'll be back Claire, Fiona, Maureen & Dorothy.

Excellent stay
We loved staying at the cottage. It was quiet with a beautiful view in the distance. The cottage was spacious with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. The kids enjoyed watching the ducks and sitting on the raised platform overlooking the duck pond. Eileen was a great and kind host. Super friendly and took great care of us. I would recommend staying here if you want a quiet retreat near Carlisle. It was a good 45-50 min drive to Keswick, but we like driving and had no regrets on location. We are so glad we stayed here!

Super stay in Lily Cottage
We had an excellent stay in Eileen and Richard's beautiful spacious yet cosy cottage. They are the most amazing hosts! So friendly, helpful and generous. Lovely welcome package, super clean, well kitted out, beautifully decorated cottage with very comfy beds, lots of storage space and amazing star gazing from the roof windows. Our children loved seeing the ducks. The photos don't do this cottage justice. We will definitely be coming back!

Impressive property with all the facilities required
We found the property to be well fitted with all the rooms comfortable. Kitchen was excellent with all required services up to date and well supplied. Eileen provided a welcome hamper to get us started and a very tasty chocolate cake. We were made to feel very welcome and I felt nothing would be too much for them. Located close to Carlisle the property was well placed to explore the local and wider area. We will definitely make a return visit.

Delightfully cosy & comfortable
We regularly stay in holiday properties; most are adequate to good and they vary quite a lot in terms of being well equipped and the quality and taste of decor and furnishings. Eileen & Richard’s house is unquestionably one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed at. The entire house is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished, the kitchen has everything you could need and more; bedrooms comfortable and there are many small, but well considered little touches throughout the house that make it feel so welcoming and friendly. Eileen & Richard are lovely hosts; so friendly and knowledgeable about places to visit in the vicinity. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend in the highest possible terms.

The place was wonderful, exceeded all expectations. Spotless and full of light. The hosts were so welcoming! We stayed for four days but could have stayed much longer. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the children enjoyed the games and piano. We didn’t have a car for our stay there, and generally speaking you would need a car to enjoy the area properly, but we were able to get groceries delivered and so forth. Highly recommend.

I HAVE AN INTEREST IN GARDENING, NATURE AND FOOD. I ENJOY BAKING AND COOKING USING VEGETABLES AND FRUIT FROM OUR GARDEN. I ENJOY BEING CREATIVE AND RESTORING OLD FURNITURE .
I WORK AT CARLISLE HOSPITAL AS A STAFF NURSE . I AM LOCAL TO THE CARLISLE AREA ORIGINATING FROM KIRKLINTON WHICH IS EAST OF CARLISLE BUT MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR 45YEARS

THE BARN WAS AT RISK OF BECOMING DERELICT THEREFORE , WE DECIDED TO RESTORE IT BACK TO A HOUSE. ARCHIVE RESEARCH GAVE US THE HISTORY OF THE BUILDING. SOME OF THE WALLS HAD TO BE REBUILT AS THEY WERE BUILT OF CLAY- DABBING BUT THE RESTORATION HAS BEEN DONE IN KEEPING WITH THE RURAL CUMBRIAN STYLE. .

STUNNING NORTH VIEWS. LOVELY COSY , THOUGHTFULLY RENOVATED COTTAGE. A BASE FOR VISITORS TO TOUR THE INTERESTING AREAS OF CUMBRIA AND IT'S SOLWAY COAST. EASY ACCESS TO THE PENNINES , EDEN VALLEY, LAKE DISTRICT AND NORTHERN MAJOR CITIES. GOOD TRAIN STATION IN CARLISLE WHERE VISITORS MIGHT LIKE TO TRAVEL THE SETTLE LINE ON ONE OF THE STEAM TRAINS OR JUST TAKE A TRAIN JOURNEY TO ONE OF THE SCOTTISH CITIES. GOOD AREA FOR WALKING AND BIKING. SIDE ROADS ARE QUIET AND SUITABLE FOR THOSE OF US WHO DO NOT WANT THE EXERTION OF STEEP HILLS AND VALLEYS. SOLWAY COAST IS AN AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY. THE COTTAGE IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND HOMELY WITH A CUMBRIAN COTTAGE ATMOSPHERE.FULLY FITTED KITCHEN WITH DISH WASHER, COOKER WITH TWO OVENS AND HOB, WASHING MACHINE, FRIDGE FREEZER, AND MICOWAVE. THERE IS SECURE STOREAGE FOR BIKES AND PARKING FOR TWO CARS. LOVELY VIEWS OF THE SCOTTISH MOUNTAINS AND THE SOLWAY COAST. SAFE , SECURE AND PRIVATE.
