Tiny house fit our needs perfectly. Unbelievable night sky, central to a lots of places on our agenda. And Harvey was a great host. Make sure you check out Sierra Negra restaurant for great food nearby.
If you love this region -- or you think you will --- this tiny house is beautifully sited, with attention to the views. More beauty is right down the road:
We loved staying in the Tiny House for 5 nights. It had everything we needed to cook simple meals and was very comfortable in the living area and the loft bedroom.
We were able to go on many adventures from this location and especially enjoyed hiking at the Plaza Blanca. We visited there on two separate occasions and were amazed by the beauty. We also enjoyed stargazing from the porch at night.
We are so thankful to have found Harvey's place and hope to return for another visit some day!
The tiny house is exactly as described in every way. The weather, at night, the mid twenties, some nights with wind. However, the tiny house remained cozy and warm. The bed was very comfortable with a nice warm comforter and flannel sheets. There is also a ceiling fan for cooling, if needed.
WiFi is excellent with no problems and fast connections.
Water is hot.
Harvey, our host, is/was very kind and helpful with local information and easily accessible.
We would definitely stay here again. The tiny house is perfect for one or two people. Quiet and approximately 1 to 1:15 hrs to Taos, Albuquerque, and/or Santa Fe. There is also much to see and do in the surrounding areas. We very much recommend the Tiny house!
Nothing beats this cute tiny house. Location is part of it but honestly, Harvey is one of a kind. You dont meet legends like him anymore. He built the house himself and he is a bau biologist so its all clean building. The area is quiet and so beautiful. Worth every penny. Everything was so perfect.

Good and quiet location although not really desertic. House design OK.
Like at most rentals in the US, everything that has to do with the kitchen was dirty. Our 2 days there would not have been enough to clean up the owen, not to mention the fridge, cookware, silverware, coffee maker...
Don't even think of cooking a meal. No way to fall back on a frozen dish, there is no microwave unit.
Fortunately nearby Café Abiquiu serves an excellent food.
Gorgeous views in a private and lovely locale. If you want to get away from everything, this is the perfect place to do it. The beautiful landscape and the incredible view of the stars and the Milky Way galaxy at night are indescribable.
Harvey was so communicative and his arrival instructions were very easy to follow when my cell service and GPS became unreliable. I lagged upon arrival and he was so patient and gave me the space I needed to do some errands before checking in.
The casita is perfect for one or two adults, and has everything you need for light snack and meal prep before heading out to explore the area. I was able to come and go with ease at any time of day—at night, the solar lights guided me to the front door. The bed was comfy, the A/C great, and the nights so quiet.
This place is cozy, ideal for hiking in the surrounding areas. Very close to Abiquiu and El Rito. We love the quietness of the place and the beauty of the area. The owner is very nice, he provided fresh ground coffee and a nice vase with fresh flowers to adorn the place, a very nice touch! We love it!
Harvey is a wonderful host and the tiny home he built is a perfect oasis for a visit in Abiquiu. It's well equipped and cozy with a comfy bed. My favorite thing was sipping coffee in the morning on the front porch and admiring the views...or wine in the evening.
You do need to climb a ladder to get to bed, so be aware of that. It's very well built and sturdy though, and there is a nightlight in the kitchen to help you navigate. In all, a perfect little stay for my cross country road trip.
Tiny little house that’s plenty for two! My husband and I felt comfortable staying here for a week without feeling crammed. The views outside are amazing, and the stars at night are even better. Close to lots of trails, and cafe sierra negra is a must!
Only about 1.5 h to Santa Fe national park!
Harvey is very kind, good at communicating, and happily showed us some local trails. Would love to stay here again!
I was in town for a Ghost Ranch seminar, and am really glad I stayed at Harvey's place. It's spacious enough for one, though without a sink in the bathroom (there's a small one in the kitchen), don't think I'd want to share with another. Harvey was responsive, kind, and showed me a nice local area to hike. Plenty of amenities, and the internet and heat worked well during my visit. One suggestion to take it from great to awesome would be a good vacuuming and new bath mat. Besides that, highly recommend!
My stay at the tiny home was wonderful! I was looking for something off the grid that offered ammenities such as a shower and stove with peace and quite! Bonus was the amazing views both sunset and sunrise, AC and Heat was included and a small Radio with Bluetooth connection. The Tiny home was just the ticket to "reset" from my busy lifestyle. I was able to visit Ghost Ranch, Oja Calienta Spa, The valles caldera, Taos and completed several nearby hikes! Wonderful The owner was very responsive!
This is absolutely without question the most relaxing place we have ever stayed! We wanted to simply disconnect from major city living for a while, and this was the perfect place. The desert scenery is gorgeous, and we spent many hours sitting on the porch simply taking in the scent of juniper, the warmth of the sun, the gentle rumble of distant evening thunder. Sunrises, sunsets (which were stunning!), stargazing, summer storms. Wonderful solitude. A balm for the soul.
The house itself, though tiny, seems spacious inside because the layout is so well composed. The kitchen is well-stocked: pots, pans, cheese grater, pasta drainer, etc., along with herbs, spices, sugar, and the like. The living room is bright with natural light and a high ceiling, and there is a small closet for storage. Small touches like a vase of fresh carnations on the table made it instantly feel like home. The art on the walls featured photographs of local landscapes; overall, the house was very well thought out and it fit perfectly in the high desert area.
Harvey is a very kind and thoughtful host--always available yet left us to our solitude, and we had a really nice conversation with him. He is personable, knowledgeable about the area, and it is evident that he put a great deal of thought and care into the tiny house. We definitely look forward to a return trip!
I can only say great things about this property and my stay at the tiny house. It was my first visit to the high dessert of New Mexico and the place exceeded my expectations. After more than two decades of raising a family and living in a busy metropolitan area, I found myself in solitude, quietness and the varied beauty of the area. You have tremendous views of bluffs and mountains from inside a space that is simple and clean. Spend time out on the small porch just taking in the views or you can go for hikes directly from your place. I later learned that it is a clean/healthy house with no EMF, plastics or other unnatural substances. I think this is a real feature of the place and it made the experience that much more enjoyable. The kitchen had everything you need, it has a great table that serves well for eating and painting. And the upstairs loft for sleeping was a real creative use of the space.
The host was very generous and offered great tips for hikes, shared background on the area and also made some excellent suggestions for places to eat.
In short, if you're looking for a simple, quiet place where the natural beauty of the desert comes into view than look no further. I plan to visit again and hopefully, soon!
This tiny house is in a stunningly beautiful part of New Mexico. It has amazing views, and is extremely quiet. If you are looking for a place to rest and absorb the beauty of the desert, then this is for you. Harvey was an excellent host. I will definitely be back when I return to this part of the country
Harvey has this down right! He's built a great getaway for you! Beautiful views, just enough amenities to make your stay comfortable, a safe place to rest and enjoy your time apart from the normal day-to-day. You've picked the right place!
The most perfectly constructed tiny cabin you could imagine. All design elements are so well thought out, high quality, and cozy. The kitchen is perfect- basic pots and pans and spices and herbs, oils, oats, sugar, coffee, tea. Instant pot too which made for a perfect thanksgiving dinner prep for my boyfriend and I. We grilled meat and warmed ourselves by the fire pit outside and marvelled at the stars and the desert landscape and solitude. But you are not completely detached as there is strong wifi and a great little
Bluetooth radio inside. I loved this place and can’t wait to come back. Harvey is kind and thoughtful and responsive.
