Lovely setting

We spent most off our time on the deck, gazing at the mountains surrounding us. Furniture and beds were comfortable and kitchen was well-equipped. We would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay

We stayed 2 nights in October and would definitely return. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for accessing the Appalachian trail and Roan Mtn State Park. We enjoyed sunrise and breakfast on the deck each morning. Thank you!!

Mother’s Day Get Away

Just my mom and I for a long weekend. The location is nestled away and the views are spectacular. We grabbed groceries in Johnson City and stayed tucked away aside from some short hikes in the State Park. Check in was easy. It was a perfect relaxing getaway.

Weekend hiking getaway

The photos of this place do it no justice-- can't quite put into words what a phenomenal view from the porch and pretty well everywhere inside you still can see. Took my mom on a hiking trip and cancelled a few hikes just so we could sit on the porch and enjoy the quiet, peacefullness of those views. Hosts were easy to communicate with and friendly, check in was a breeze and the place had everything you'd need and then some. We cant wait to come back many, many more times hopefully!!

Serene Retreat

For Mother's Day weekend, my wife and I decided to stay at Roan Mountain for three nights and go on some wildflower hikes. The location was perfect for accessing hiking trails such as Carver's Gap and Roan Mountain State Park. As another guest mentioned, the photos do not do justice to the breathtaking view from the deck. The misty layers of mountains extended far north, and we were able to watch the sunrise over the mountain east of the cabin. We also enjoyed watching various birds from the comfort of the deck, where I was able to identify at least a dozen species. The inside of the cabin was clean and had all necessary amenities, including cooking supplies. If you prefer eating out, the town of Roan Mountain is just a fifteen-minute drive away with several restaurant options, including a delicious Mexican spot we tried on our first night. There is also a well-stocked grocery store in town. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and appreciate your hospitality. Thank you!

Perfect mountain getaway!

The view from the deck was spectacular. And you could still see the view while sitting inside at the wonderful open kitchen/dining area. And there was everything you could want and more. Sufficient storage and two bath rooms available. Personal text/phone call from the owner made arriving very easy. I especially appreciated the details on when not to follow GPS since we had a late arrival and the mountain roads can be a little confusing. We have been to roan mountain before and therefore did not take the hike this time. We chose to hike other places. The best thing was Seeing the beautiful sunrise from the privacy of your own deck without having to hike to see the sunrise LOL. We will be back!

Return visit did not disappoint

As with our first visit in the fall, we could not have been happier with our choice. Upon entering we put down our bags, and immediately went to the back deck where we took advantage of the spectacular view and the quiet. Whether we were there in the early morning with our coffee, or under the roofline, when it rained or in the evening, it was always a perfect spot. Hiking is our main goal on Roan Mountain, and this location is the last set of homes prior to the summit to carvers gap. The home was spotless beds and linens were sufficient extra blankets were available, and the kitchen is fully stocked. Any questions we had were quickly answered. The cabin may not be fancy, but who comes to the mountains for fancy when you can have cozy, clean, and a magnificent view.

Third stay did not disappoint

Staying in this location for the third time I feel like I am coming home. Julie is always quick to respond with any questions or issues. When you drive up the road, you will notice that her property is the only one with a clear view of the mountains and a gorgeous sunrise. If you enjoy cooking, there are no supplies you will need to bring. When you sit on the porch, you hear nothing but the wind and the birds. As she mentions in the house description, there is no Internet access, but you have the ability to phone text give and receive emails. Cable TV is available with multiple channels if the beauty of the mountains is not enough for you. Being only 3 miles from carvers gap, we took advantage of being able to hike to round ball for sunset pictures. This was and will continue to be our first choice in cabins at Roan Mountain.

The best of the Smokies!

We came for 1 night during the peak of leaf season. This VRBO gave us the best mountain views of our trip. The cabin was perfect for us - easy to find, clean and had everything we needed.

Beautiful views

My fiancé and I had a lovely experience with our overnight stay. Julie called and walked us through the details of the check in and was sweet as can be. Beautiful area, very quiet and relaxing. Just a heads up there is no wifi in case you wanted to do remote work. But it’s perfect for a relaxing get away!

Relaxing Stay

This home is a place to unwind and enjoy an amazing, peaceful setting. The large deck, the stunning view of the mountains, the hummingbird visits and the quietness can renew your soul. The home is decorated beautifully, and is well stocked to cook your own meals. We did eat lunch at Bob's Dairyland and the BBQ was very good. One day we ate lunch at Americano Steak House and it was great! The cheeseburger, their famous fries, the parmesan truffle fries were delicious. We took the 12 layer chocolate cake as take out. Oh my goodness, it was huge and yummy! Carvers Gap and Craggy Gardens are just a couple of miles from this home. We will be back!

The Sun, the Moon and the Stars

Needed a place for the weekend to relax and get a break from the heat, on the way home from long week of competitions. Thought I would sleep in a little, until the sun rising over the mountains awoke me. Wow! Incredible. The only place we found with a better view on that mountain, was the Roan High Bluff Overlook. You have to walk the trail from just past the rhododendron gardens. Definitely worth the .5 mile hike. But the view from the house while sitting on the deck with a beverage and the hummingbirds zooming around was even better. Turn off all of the lights at night for an amazing view of the stars that you will never get near a big city. A great, no hassle stay with everything you need. Thanks!

Wonderful Getaway

The pictures and description of this property don't do it justice. The view truly is unbelievable. It's in a quiet location and even though there are other homes visible, it was very peaceful. The "cabin" had everything we needed to enjoy our stay only 3 miles from Carver's Gap and the Appalachian Trail. Although the bedrooms are a bit small, all the living areas were more than roomy for a 4 person unit. And did I mention the deck - super spacious, amazing view, cool breezes, and beautiful sunrises. Julie was very helpful and contacted us when she found out from the housekeeper that the coffee pot was broken and got a replacement to us the first night. People do need to know that internet and cell service is limited, although we could usually access what we needed early in the morning. If you are wanting a true getaway from it all in the beautiful Roan Highlands, this place is perfect.
