About this property

Ancient farmhouse from Valpolicella dated from 1812

Ancient farmhouse in stone of three floors perched on the hill; it offers a wonderful view over the valley. On the ground floor, you will find different environments: the old barn, transformed into a wide porch and heated by a mighty chimney, the kitchen which is equipped with white goods and dishwasher, the dining room for 8 people, and the two living rooms with satellite TV and a small library, all with chimneys. On the first floor you will find the bedrooms, all with a view over the valley. They can accommodate up to seven people. The bedrooms come in different styles: one large bedroom with a king bed, that with previous notification can accommodate a small bed for children, double bedroom with single beds and a chimney, another double bedroom. All of them have exposed beams. Lastly, a refined single bedroom with a wallpaper from the era. Two recently restored vintage bathrooms that offer wide showers; the building concludes with one laundry room. On the outside there is a garden equipped with tables and small beds, and also there are wide green spaces that are part of the farm.

Heaven in the Valpolicelle region of Italy
Campolongo, in the heart of Italian wine country, is heaven on earth. This 4+ bedroom farmhouse is charming and comfortable beyond belief. Close to the historic city of Verona, it offers a perfect home base for exploring the richness of northern Italy. This was our second stay at Campolongo, and it won’t be our last. Grazie Stefano!

Very rustic place
Host Stefano was very nice and helpful. The view from the house was lovely. We unfortunately had to vacate the house the day after me moved in for the following reasons: The driveway is very narrow, very steep and bumpy (unpaved- farming access) we barely made it down to the house in our sedan and decided to park the car along the main road and walk up and down. Very inconvenient especially at night because of darkness. The difficult access was not mentioned in the description anywhere and I think it should be. If you drive an SUV you will be fine. The kitchen was the other major issue. We were quite shocked. The posting shows one picture of the kitchen and that is basically all there is. Fridge, very tiny counter space which is occupied by the microwave and espresso machine. I guess I was naive in assuming to have a decent kitchen. Making a simple breakfast turned into a problem. I had to use the window sill to prep a sandwich and cut bread. The crowning was the "sink" which is not pictured. It probably is as old as the house (1880?) and is a piece of slanted stone with a hole. The first morning I had a mouse coming up from the drain staring at me. Not very sanitary..... WIFI was very very weak - a big problem! Bedrooms were nicely decorated. Second bathroom is downstairs and you have to walk through the "barn part" to get there. Living room furniture fitted the look of the house but not very comfortable and it smelled musty. The view from the garden in front of the house is absolutely stunning and Stefano as I mentioned was very nice. Upon check in I was informed that a tractor and workers would pass right between the entrance door and the outdoor sitting area because it was cherry harvesting season. We were not aware of that fact and did not want strangers coming and going. The house has mostly good reviews. If you don't mind very rustic then its for you. As I said the host and the view are wonderful. Verona and lake Garda are close in KM but the road is very windy and it takes time to get there. Next supermarket is not very close either. We have rented many properties over the years and never had a complaint or vacated the rental. just want to spell out what our concern was. I did not contact the host before I decided to leave because there was no way to improve the issues. I had to find another rental and pay again.

Traumhafter Kurzurlaub

Great place to explore Valpolicella
Right in the heart of Valpolicella. There were wineries everywhere, lots of name we knew and even more we didn’t. We found it well equipped with updated bathrooms and lots of hot water. Being from the 1800s the building still had lots of character that you just can’t get in new buildings. The kitchen was small but we had no problem making some great meals during our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed and the fridge was a good size. There’s no store in the little village so you should take some groceries when you go. The beds were comfy and we got great sleep while there. The views were spectacular. The hot tub was a nice touch after driving all day. Verona was 1/2 hr away Lake Garda was a bit further. The approach to the villa was a bit tight but we made it with our suv you just have to go slow in a couple of spots. I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Mehr schlecht als recht
Moderner Gasofen ?

Avevamo a disposizione accappatoio e saponi made in florence.

Fantastico!
We‘ve stayed at Paolas place for a week and we had an absolutely amazing time there. The house is stunning, placed in between vineyards and close to the village of San Rocco (with a cozy, beautiful Osteria). The garden and the jacuzzi were great for the kids and the nights on the terrace were even more wonderful for us. Stefano, son of Paola, was a great host who helped us with everything related to the property and a lot more. Wonderful people, wonderful place, I would call it a secret paradise and recommend it to all those looking for a lovely spot besides of all the main roads. Grazie a voi!

Welcoming and embracing filled with Old World charm
Relaxing and immersive. The kitchen is well equipped. The home is elegantly decorated. We slept great on the firm, comfortable mattresses The views into vineyard valleys are captivating. Central location for visiting Valpolicella wineries. Nearby trattorias have good food,l-friendly and very reasonably priced. The owner was very accommodating. He also gave recommendations for nearby places to eat.

Excellent Venue!
Stefano and Irene are warm, courteous and delightful hosts. The property is excellent with great views, cool breezes, and rustic amenities. The check in was a little challenging because of the difficulty programming an address but the hosts still made it work. Property is best for those who enjoy a vigorous walk. Highly recommended!

Great home to rent for a holiday get away. Works for a couple people or a large family. Great
This house was great to rent for our vacation. It was a calm and peaceful place to be in Verona. The views were impeccable and the small village was quiet which was also nice. The location was also really great because it only took 30 minutes or so to get to most places that tourists likely would go. It felt like I was living in Verona for a few weeks and not just a tourist. It was truly a great vacation and I would highly recommend.

Gerne wieder.

Characterful and spacious rural property with beautiful views
A charming farmhouse which is well equipped and very spacious. The outdoor space has amazing views and we enjoyed alfresco dining most days. The hot tub is lovely - a beautiful spot under the stars. Stefano and Paula were wonderfully friendly hosts - they organised a baby cot for us and made sure we had all we needed during our sťay and recommended some lovely places to visit. We thought this was a great location for exploring Lake Garda and the Valpolicella wine region. Could happily have stayed longer.

sehr empfehlenswert

Beautiful Farmhouse in the hills above Verona
Wonderful stay at Campalongo. The owners warmly greeted us and made sure we settled in - it was a lovely welcome. They also organised tickets for a local show and recommended places to visit. The farmhouse is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The views from the gardens are beautiful and perfect for alfresco dining. The location is good for Lake Garda, Verona and even did a day trip to Venice. We would definitely return - loved it.

About the host

Host profile image
We represent the third generation of our old family that has always lived at Verona. Our family ancestors include various local artists, painters and colloquial poets. We are two professionals passionate for travelling, nature, and the beauties that surround us; The Valpolicella, the Garda Lake, the dolomites and our Verona, a UNESCO patrimony. We dedicate part of our free time to whoever wants to visit these places.

Why they chose this property

My family has been dedicated to this house from three generations ago. My grandfather; reaching the end of his working career, had made this his summer residence, restoring it completely.
In the eighties, my parents continued the family tradition by making further improvements. A few years ago the third generation completed the restoration. The house has always been opened to our friends for dinners and tours in the farmland, moreover in the season when cherries are harvested in our orchard. Our idea to offer our house for your vacation is born precisely from this innate inclination towards hospitality.

What makes this property unique

We have spent our childhood in this house and love every single detail. Our house is a true residence typical of the area, restored by respecting the local traditions and using materials from the place. In the entrance near the iron bell, there is an engraving that reminds us of year 1812. All the environments have exposed beams and old wooden floors. The old barn is now a fresh environment with a collection of old tools of the peasants tradition. Underneath the house there is a typycal cellar carved within the stone. On the outside a wide garden offers a colourful view depending on the season.
