This lovely cottage is so close to everything you may want to do, but it is easy to spend an entire day sitting by the river or on the huge deck overlooking the water. Plenty of room for 2 couples. Having the extra downstairs bath was great. Would be happy to return next summer!
Great location on the watuga river and close to tweetsie and town. Lots of great places to eat. The cabin was clean but in need of repairs lights in bedrooms don't work and our first night was 18 degrees and the heat quit working on our first night. The owner did call a repair man but failed to fix it he made things worse the fan blew cold air all night again. We decided after two nights of no sleep we cut our vacation short to go back home because we didn't want to freeze again with our newborn child. Was disappointed to say the least. Over 800.00 for a vacation rental we couldn't even get comfortable in. Based on other reviews the lighting and heating and air seemed to be the biggest complaint it should be addressed.
Close to town, Functional and mostly clean. Mixed experience.
Lose to town location helps. Neighborhood is mixed some nice houses mixed in with run down ones.
Property needs maintenance. Peeling paint (inside and outside) and wallpaper. Half the light bulbs do not work. Most fixtures connected using plugs. Not child friendly. Fridge and dishwasher relatively new, but there’s not even a single full set of coffee mugs. The gas fireplace was nice.
Bathroom had bugs and spiders, so we used our own bed sheets, pillows etc. and washed the dishes/spoons before use.
Please note, there is no garbage service. Guest has to haul it themselves to dumpsters.
Would not recommend unless they improve the maintenance.
Great place to stay! We had some issues with the water pressure, but owners took care of the problem the same day! Would definitely be back to stay again! Photos don't do this cabin justice. Alot nicer in person!
I got exactly what I wanted a place close to the river where my son was able to play the entire time it was perfect

Clean, convenient location
Very clean. Is not fancy but was everything we needed. Location was convenient to fishing, local stores/restaurants, and ski slopes. It was spacious and comfortable for 3 adults. The large flat yard was also really nice. Was a great place for a winter trip but would be even better in the summer since it is right on the Watauga! Owner was also very responsive to my questions.

Repairs needed!
No tv reception so bring your dvd's. Wifi box was on but couldnt get any reception from it and yes i used the correct password that was given. Air Conditioner didnt work. Water smelled like sulfuric acid or hydrogen sulfide ("spoiled eggs") so bad that you didnt even want to shower in it or use the sink. So other than that it has a nice large deck to sit and enjoy the veiw of the river and enjoy the weather. I will not recommend or stay at this location again. I wouldnt consider this a fishermans paradise either due to the lack of trout in the river behind the cabin.

Nice location, property could use some fixing
The location of the cabin is great, close to 2 ski resorts and near several great restaurants. The stream in the backyard is very nice and great for having a pet along. That said, the cabin can really use some TLC. The electrical wiring is very poor (wires running along ceiling beams and power strips all over the place) and several bulbs were missing. Also, the main bathroom ceiling is not finished. The second bathroom listed in the description is in the basement, which could use some through cleaning up and serious organization. The Wi-Fi connectivity was good given that there was no cell phone reception in the area (which was to be expected), but there was also no working land line, which would make it hazardous in case of a true emergency. This also affected all communication attempts with management. After the first day of our stay, the heating system stopped working and we had to use a small portable electric radiator during some of the coldest days of the year (single digit temperatures). The management was notified and they sent a technician out to us the next day to check the system. It turned out the propane had run out. They called in a propane refueling service that came out within the hour. Once the propane was refilled, the gas fireplace started working again, but the main house heating did not. The technician stated that the outside unit did not work, so we wouldn't be able to use the main heating system, just the fireplace. At the end of our stay, we had to dispose of our own trash (per NC rental laws) which was fine for us, except the "convenience center" (trash disposal center) listed on the cabin instructions was closed on the day we left (a Tuesday). Given that no other alternate convenience center was listed, we ended up having to drive around with the trash in our car looking for an open alternative for an hour. Definitely not what we had imagined from the description and the pictures.

Great location. Great deck.
The location is wonderful. The deck is amazing. The 2nd bedroom is a double bed with a bunk over it. The 2nd bathroom is in the basement. This configuration was a little uncomfortable with 2 couples. It would be nice arrangement for a family. The TV's were great. The main bathroom walls need to be finished. We saw 9 deer in the adjacent field!

Perfect river cabin
My family stayed here and we loved the location. My 3 year old and my Jack Russell loved playing and floating in the river. There was plenty of room for us. The bathroom does need some updating but it looks like there are some repairs being made with the ceiling. But overall, the place was great for a quick summer mountain get-a-way. If you are just looking for basic but comfy, then you will be happy here.

A weekend getaway with family
Your place is so quaint and it gives you the feel of being in the mountains. Enjoyed the view of the river and the deer was a plus. Nice and quiet area. Very well stocked kitchen. We would definitely recommend your home and even come back ourselves. Thank you for opening your home to us. My family had a wonderful time!!

Perfect Setting
PROS: This is a great location...quiet and peaceful but very central to Boone, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock and Valle Crucis. Valle Crucis has a great park on the river with a walking trail and playground for children. Mast General store is a real treat and there is a great restaurant called Over Yonder that had a wonderful menu and the food was tasty. The cabin was comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen. The deck is awesome with a great view of the river. Deer came through the backyard every evening. It was a cozy and relaxing place to spend a week. I got exactly what I needed which was some R&R. The owner and management company were very communicative and responsive to my needs.
CONS: I only used the master bedroom and the mattress was very uncomfortable. Apparently there had also been some roof/ceiling repair as there was only plywood in a couple of sections with the wallcovering coming off in the bathroom. To fully enjoy the deck, I had to sweep as well as knock down cobwebs around the deck and front porch.

Great location! Fun river. Rustic get away.
The house was what we expected. River was great. Large deck was nice. It had everything we needed. Dish washer worked if you wiggle it the right way. Master bed should be more comfortable. Not great sleeping. Kids loved the bunk beds. For the cleaning fee, it should have been cleaner. Baseboards and chair rails were pretty dirty and lots of corners have been neglected. Also the furniture can use a vacuum hose between the cushions. All in all, we did enjoy our stay.

Unbelievably cozy! perfect long weekend getaway
Me and my guest were extremely impressed upon arrival. Pictures don't do this home justice. Perfect location to just stay around the area and close enough to drive to some fun destinations. Very continent to book. No hassle upon/after arrival. The backyard is beautiful. This home is perfectly secluded with all the amenities to make for a great trip! Will definitely recommend to a friend.

Perfect getaway
My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary and it was just wonderful. The house was great and as the name implies, very cozy. We spent the majority of our time outside on the deck and down by the river. It was very peaceful. While there are neighbors, the house next to use was empty and we only saw the people across the river once. It was very relaxing and we'd definitely come back here again.
Historical Note - only a mile or so down the road is the Mast General Store which has been opened since 1883. It's the building with the ESSO gas sign in front - a must see place while your here.
