Loved our stay here!

We’ve stayed at the property before and loved it along with the hot tub. It accommodated our friends and dog well and everyone had a great time. Though after retrieving the dog’s toy not long after arrival, we also pulled out someone else’s dirty, extremely dusty sock. For the amount of money paid in cleaning fees some areas could use a little more attention. I recall a skittle under the coffee table our last stay that didn’t come from us either.

wonderful stay

I was hesitant to book looking at previous reviews but I am so happy we did. Previous negative reviews must be outdated and any problems have been corrected. We booked this home for our trip after arriving at our own home to find it needed extensive repairs. The management was very helpful with letting us know right when the house was ready for us to check in (a little early!) The place was very clean and accommodated our whole group very well. The loft with 2 twin beds was a surprise bonus to the already 3 large bedrooms.

run down

We stayed here in 2011 and loved it. Since then, this charming cabin has gotten a bit run down . There are lots of carpet stains, it is very dusty, and litter on the loft floor and not been picked up or vacuumed.... The fireplace doesn't work and it would have been nice to know that upon renting this. Wifi password was provided but there was no signal available. We enjoyed our weekend visit to the area but will not be back to August Place.

House has plenty to offer. But lacks maintenance and thorough cleaning.

The house lacks regular home maintenance. The oven door came off in our hands. Light bulbs were blown. The gas grill wouldn't get hot enough to cook the steaks we had for 9 people. Hot tub water was pink when we opened the cover. (We called and it was drained and cleaned within a few hours) Towels had holes. Kitchen cabinets had shelves that were falling. Refrigerator pieces broken inside. Trash around outside of house. Broken glass on front porch and around porch. Cob webs on most all light fixtures. Hundreds for a cleaning fee is not being utilized well... also pet fees dont seem to be used for anything either....dog chewed door casing in main floor bathroom from a previous dog being locked up. Basically a nice house that isn't being managed well and kept up for the people that own it. Could easily receive all 5 star ratings. But needs better upkeep.

Property was very nice.

We had a great time with plenty of room. The rooms were warm and inviting. Only thing I didn't like was there was only 1 working tv with cable. The rest of the tv's cable didn't work. Other than that it was a great trip and would like to stay there again.

Nice Cabin!

This was our first cabin rental. It was a nice cabin in a private location with parking enough for 3-4 cars. 3 bedrooms accommodated our party of 8 very easily. A few of the reviews on this cabin seem a bit harsh. We did feel that it could be an excellent cabin with a little more deep cleaning, a few small repairs, and new fire pit seating. Overall though, nice place.

I'd rate this cabin as fair.

We ended up having a great time. With just a few changes this cabin could rent for a higher price and be excellent! The whole thing needs a thorough cleaning. Carpet should be replaced. Outdoor furniture should be burned as firewood! Lots of cobwebs, lots of dust. Kitchen sink and bathtubs should be cleaned with bleach. Bed in bottom bedroom needs new mattress. This is a nice place, but has so much potential! Also, I tried to reach someone to get the door code. I left 3 messages on different phones. NO ONE called me back! The office was closed when we arrived. Glad we didn't have an emergency! Luckily a window was unlocked! We felt uneasy having to sneak in. I would definitely stay here again, but I would bring some cleaning supplies and some chairs to sit in by the fire.

Worst Vacation Ever!!!!!! Please don't waste or allow these people to take your money!!!!!!

When my family and I arrived on March 25, 2016 We first noticed that the pictures of the outside amenities they advertise for where in very poor condition(all lawn furniture was broken and not suitable for sitting). They advertised that there was a nice outside fire pit for fun with the kids. Lawn furniture was broken and dangerous to sit in. After inspection of the house it was filthy. There was dust all over everything as if it had not been cleaned in months. We continued our inspection only to find out that not only was there no cable because there were no cable boxes at all, we also were shortly aware that there was no heat on the bottom and middle leave of the home. We immediately contacted the company that we made the reservation through (VRBO.com/ Home away.com). Susan with VRBO secured us that she could make alternate arrangements for a pet friendly hotel in which she did at (Green Park Inn) in Blowing Rock, NC. We made our first phone call at 5:15pm on the 25th of March however, we had no response on alternate arrangements until 9:30pm that evening. We went with our four children and our dog to check in at Green Park Inn around 10:00pm that night. We placed our luggage in our rooms and left to feed our children before everything closed only to receive a phone call from the front desk person at the hotel to return to settle our dog. When we returned within 5 minutes of the phone call only to have my husband threatened with physically violence by the gentlemen in the next room. For our safety and because there was no intervention from staff we had to leave and return back to the original rental and group into the living room in the house and sleep on the floor in order to keep warm. At 6:00am the following morning we left the rental and drove two hours to stay with family on the way back home. We took this vacation to celebrate my daughters 14th birthday, to give three of my step children there first experience in the mountains. This situation not only ruined our vacation but also left us with no ability to have our money refunded for the second night after the hell we went through the first night. Concluding this review, in addition to the filth, the broken furniture, no working heat, the hellish experience at Green Park Inn, we are also dealing with a fraud complaint with our financial institution in order to help us retrieve a refund for the charges from the rental and now the hotel which was to be paid for by the travel company.

Peacock's Family Vacation

This cabin is definitely worth the cost, we had a great time and coming home to the cabin was the perfect ending to each fun filled day! The kids loved the loft area, hot tub and the foosball table. The adults loved the serenity of the cabin and how cozy it was during the winter. We will definitely will come back and look forward staying again in the near future. Thank you for a enjoyable time! The Peacock's!

Cabin was very nice

We enjoyed the cabin on our weekend stay. Everything was as described except the gas fireplace seemed to not be working. They did have a second electric fireplace that gave of great heat when we wanted to get cozy at night. It was very cold so we did not test out the grill, we tried the hot tub but had ice forming in our hair so that did not last long. If you pick this cabin you will enjoy it.

Very dissapointed in what could be a cute cabin!

This place was a real let down. We have been renting vacation homes for over 15 years and this by far was the worst. It is in need of more than a little TLC. (It could be wonderful with some much needed work) There were no instructions left with the property other than a not on the fridge to take the trash down the mountain with us and an emergency number for the property manager. When we arrived the first two things we noticed were the dust/dirt a layer on all hard services. As if the property had been put up for the winter and the only cleaning was the bathroom and clean linens on the bed. The carpet stains were beyond awful! They looked as if they needed a good vacuum as well as a shampoo. Cobwebs covered all light fixtures and other decorations. The second was that the heat had not been turned on. After a few minutes we were able to get the radiant heaters going. But the home wasn't getting warm. We finally figured the windows in the back of the home we open from the top. The windows continued to pop open even when locked during our visit. The bedrooms smell very musty. Especially the master in the lowest level. The master bedroom was NEVER warm! The mustyness and dirt were a nightmare for people with allergies. The advertisement stated cable/satellite tv and internet. It took multiple calls to the rental agency to get the correct internet password. Two days to get only one television working although it appeared most had wiring and cable boxes. Only one worked. It also took two days for someone to light the pilot on the fireplace, which went back out the same day.....didn't bother calling on that again. Someone came to service the hot tub, which by the way was the highlight of the place and we aren't hot tub people, he left the hose running and neighbors from down the mountain saw the water and came up to see what see what had happened. During our stay we were called to see if the same person could come back and "winterize" the house by removing window ac units ect. These things should have been done before we arrived. On the upside the location was quite beautiful. The top of the mountain with a nice view. The young adults loved the fire pit and outdoor seating for making s'mores. The location was fantastic to the local ski resorts, restuarants and attractions! The place would be fabulous if the cleaners actually did their job, the internet and televisions worked, and the rental agency was available to fix things in a timely manner.

Great long weekend getaway

It was a great place to stay for long football weekend. It's not too far from campus and fairly close to trails, the parkway, and a winery. The house was much bigger than we thought from the pictures. The hot tub and fire pit were great to have. Overall the house was fairly clean and comfortable. There was a was a musty smell in the bedrooms and basement. The kitchen was a nice size, but the fridge is much smaller than normal. The road is paved until the last 1/4 mile which is gravel. You would need 4WD in inclement winter weather. We would stay again.

Girls weekend

Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your house for the weekend! We had a wonderful stay and made memories to last a lifetime! Our only issues were that none of the tvs in the bedrooms worked and the bedroom in the basement was very humid and musty smelling. Other than that, everything was great! The house was very easy to find and very close to town. We absolutely loved your sunroom and spent most of our time just hanging out in there.

Beautiful cul de sac location

Beautiful Updated kitchen with plenty of amenities, lots of living space with windows and views, cute decor. Fire pit and jacuzzi were a hit! Plenty of seating. Steep loft stairs. Great location, close to Boone..Huge master suite with big double sink bath. Only towels and linens provided. Needed: updated cushions on outside furniture, DO NOT stay here if you have allergies to mold/mildew. All bedrooms below ground are very musty and probably have mold. Need a dehumidifier and air filter. I got very sick with asthma problems. Some knobs broken off of heaters. Had to call owner/realtor to have questions answered several times prior to arrival.
