Jeanne & Chad have a warm and happy compound which is restorative, charming and an unique experience. (How often do you have a vacation rental where you get to feed goats and chickens?)
We hope to be back!

Had a fantastic time at this property. When we were not chasing Hex until the wee hours of the morning, we spent a lot of time on the wonderful patio taking in the fresh air, the gorgeous view and the sounds and sights of nature (witnessed 4 deer hanging out in the middle of the Au Sable!). Highly recommend this property!
Some friends and I planned a golf trip at Forest Dunes Golf Club. We arrived late at night and got a little mixed up about which entrance to to use, but the owners cleared that up ASAP. It's a great spot on the river; very quiet and peaceful. We had an excellent stay!

Clean but not private
The description does not indicate you are sharing the place with the owner directly upstairs. Only thing the listing states is that it’s an “apartment” well that isn’t a good indication. Some people rent out whole places as an apartment. Not much privacy, it was hard to be comfortable. My husband walks with a cane due to an electrical accident making the stairs were hard to navigate down to the entry door especially in the dark. It would’ve been nice if they would’ve turned the porch light on at the back door since I told them we’d be arriving late. It was just weird staying at someone’s place while they lived upstairs and you could hear everything. The heat was also not blowing into the entire space for a whole day before we figured out the vents were all closed. Nice location and clean but next time I’ll ask more questions I guess.
The house was just as described. Hitting the hot tub after a long day on the river was a great perk. The large patio and fire pit were great for hanging out. Beds were comfortable and linens were clean. Firewood was available for purchase on-site. Everything was set up and super convenient, all we had to do was worry about catching fish. Host was extremely helpful and quick to answer questions. Will definitely stay again.
This is my second time staying here. It is a wonderful location on the river and very peaceful. The addition of the steps down to the entrance was great. Very easy to access. It is very comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised that the Wi-Fi was strong enough for me to teach a live online class while I was there. I would highly recommend this place, but I don’t want you to come so there is more room for me :)
We went for a couple days over our kid's spring break and it was an awesome place to stay. Got to hang out with the goats and chickens, have a fire and roast marshmallows, and soak in the hot tub. The hosts were great communicators and were very accommodating. We will definitely be back again!
We had a wonderful experience here and have stayed here multiple times. It’s a warm, clean, cozy place to come back to after a cold day cross country skiing. We will definitely continue coming back!

Not much for privacy
I booked a weekend away for me and my wife and was looking for some decent privacy. We didn’t see anywhere in the description that we would be staying in somebody’s basement. They advertise a hot tub. the hot tub is just big enough for two people and it sits right underneath of the homeowners balcony. I messaged the owners letting them know we wouldn’t be staying there because we were expecting something a little more private and I never actually got a response from them. The basement isn’t actually a bad living space and would likely be just fine for a group of friends trying to fish the holy waters. But I wish they would be a little more descriptive of the fact they will be living right upstairs and you’ll be able to hear them eating dinner.
The home and setting is really nice. We appreciated everything was very neat and clean. The decor reflects the river setting. Because of the weather, and limited time to visit things we wanted to see, we had minimal time on site. There are several gravel roads to the home. We are used to them, some may want to know that in advance. Some basic instructions on what's expected at checkout, how to lock the outside door, operate the hot plate, and use the Roku TV would be helpful for those of us technically challenged. A little sitting area by the river would be great. Minor things. Overall we had a great time and would do it again.
The property is off the beaten path, yet only minutes from downtown Grayling which has some good restaurants. It has a scenic view of the Au Sable River and places to relax (hammocks, benches, chairs and tables.) The cabin is clean and comfortable with a number of amenities. Close to state parks and canoe/kayak rentals.
Very well maintained property, indoors and out with lots of extras and amenities. The setting is peaceful and beautiful and the hosts are friendly and welcoming. The lower level apartment was very clean, comfortable, cozy and nicely decorated. King size bed is quite comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything you could need plus more to make for a great stay.
We really enjoyed staying in this place. It was very comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the beautiful view. We highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed. We look forward to going back and staying there in the future
Our stay was perfect, the unit had everything you could imagine and the owners were very welcoming. Love the goats, chickens and of course the beautiful Au Sable River! You just can't go wrong renting their beautiful place in a fantastic location.
A lovely stay! Recommend this location! The owners are great and very helpful, and their home is well taken care of! We enjoyed daily feeding lettuce that we had to the goats and chickens! A delightful spot! Enjoyed our time in Grayling on the Au Sable at this beautiful home with great hosts!
