Phoenix golf courses, including Scottsdale, Prescott & Sedona, are known throughout the world for the best in desert golf. The area boasts 185 public, private, resort, municipal, and executive courses with each offering varying conditions of difficulty common to desert golf. Be aware, over the summer months the courses offer phenomenal rates, just go early in the morning. Scottsdale is home to the TPC Waste Management Tournament in early February. Known as the “Greatest Show on Grass” it’s the best place around to see and be seen. Be sure to plan a visit to the Bird’s Nest and try to get a spot at the 16th hole.
For more outdoor activities consider going on a desert horseback ride, go watch the Polo Ponies at West World or the Thoroughbred Racehorses at Turf Paradise; try hitting some golf balls off the 3rd level deck at the TopGolf facility, visit one of the 3 area wildlife parks and zoos; be sure to watch Tiger Splash if you get to Out of Africa, go off-roading or if you’re lucky enough to be in Scottsdale during a NASCAR event, go experience all that is a day at PIR.
If you’re looking to explore Arizona a bit, take in one of the Seven Wonders of the World, right here in our own backyard – The Grand Canyon, prepare to be awed!!! There’s Meteor Crater, another awesome experience, the Sand Dunes, the Petrified Forest, Oak Creek Canyon and Slide Rock, the Saguaro and Organ Pipe Cactus Parks, and don’t miss Biosphere 2. Try to get to Tombstone to see the O.K. Corral, to Bisbee, and definitely plan a day to be rejuvenated in the Red Rocks of Sedona.
For water fun, there are many nearby lakes such as Lake Pleasant, Saguaro Lake, and Apache Lake. A bit further and you can enjoy, Lake Meade, Lake Havasu, or Roosevelt Lake; all worth the drive.

Go wild and visit the wild, wild, west at the Rusty Spur or if line-dancing strikes your fancy, or you just need some dance lessons, spend an evening at Handlebar J’s. You can also visit Downtown Scottsdale’s landmark the Coach House, which has been around for 50 years. If your more into clubbing all night there’s 270 Degrees on the 14th Floor of the Talking Stick Resort, the Maya Day + Nightclub, Bottled Blonde and Dirks Bentley’s Whiskey Row. Enjoy live music at the Center Stage Bar in the Hyatt Regency, listen to piano music at Mastro’s City Hall Steakhouse and for a little edgier of an evening there’s the Culinary Dropout. More interested in a “cocktail experience” then there are a number of acclaimed mixologists practicing their art at either the Jade Bar, Second Story Liquor Bar, Gertrude’s, Cowboy Ciao, or Citizen Public House.
Depending on the season, Arizona has 2 ski resorts, Sunrise and Snow Bowl. Both are within a few hours’ drive and you can make a day trip of it if you want to strap on a board or some skiis.

A car is recommended, however, there is nearby public transportation, and taxis are available.
