The Thyme Holiday home offers self-catering accommodation in the beautiful department of Tarn. The house is 5 minutes walk from the quaint rural village of Cambounes, situated in the Parc Naturel Regional Du Haut-Languedoc, in the foothills of the Montagne Noire, in one of the most scenic regions of the south-west of France. The area is well known for hiking and mountain biking and the local town of Brassac hosted the French championship in mountain biking descents in May 2011. Walking and mountain biking trails criss-cross every corner of the area and the famous GR36 passes right by the cottage. The well known pilgrimage trail ‘Chemin de St. Jacques de Compostelle’ (GR653) portrayed in the recent Hollywood film ‘The Way’ joins the GR36 in the communal forest of Cambounes. The area has several fresh water lakes with full amenities such as beach, life guards, restaurant, snack bar & water sports. The beautiful towns of Catres & Mazamet are only 20 mins drive. Both offer fresh markets, good shopping and great dining opportunities. The UNESCO world heritage sites of Carcassonne & Albi are 1 hour away. The capital of the region ‘La ville rose’ Toulouse is an hour and half to the west. The Mediterranean cities of Narbonne and Beziers are just an hour and half drive. The region has a proud rugby tradition and is host to several top league clubs such as Castres Olympique, Stade Toulousain, Albi and Montpellier. There are plenty of other interesting places to visit such as the Sidobre national park (and it's amazing granite rock formations), the Millau bridge, Roquefort, Lautrec, Gaillac, too many to mention here. Come and experience real French living in this unspoilt region.

'The Thyme' is a renovated 'pigeonnier' (dovecot).

The accommodation is split over three levels comprising of a kitchen/dining area, shower room with wc, living room with wood burning stove and a mezzanine with double bed.

There is access from the first level to a little garden terrace, with barbeque, table and chairs, where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine and the view.

Séjour dans les montagnes noires

Séjour agréable dans une région "tourisme vert ". Nous avons apprécié la tranquillité de cette région chargée d'histoire, qui permet aussi de jolies randonnées. Le logement est confortable et bien équipé. les propriétaires sont disponibles et à l'écoute. Cecilia et Olivier

Sommerurlaub 2022

Klein und gemütlich, bei schönem Wetter kein Problem, da Freisitz unmittelbar am Haus. Nette Vermieter, stehen mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. WLAN leider problematisch. Gaststätten und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten nur mit Auto erreichbar. Wir haben uns gut erholt und denken gern an den Urlaub zurück.

A wonderful holiday

This was the eighth year in a row we have been back to this holiday home and we plan to continue coming back for several more years. It's a wonderful, idyllic break away from everything. Surrounded by nature, lakes, forests and mountains, what more could you ask for. The property is perfect, has everything you would need for the perfect holiday. We had a fantastic time.

Fantastic holiday

What a super holiday! Everything we wanted, get away from it all into the beautiful French countryside but still only a short train trip to Toulouse for the city experience. Long walks in the forest, lazy days at the lake, what more could you want! The house was lovely, great facilities, all in all a super holiday!
