Quiet and Great Location
I was traveling for work and this location gave me a quick commute to SSES. The kitchen was well stocked and the home was quiet and comfortable. The view from the back patio was gorgeous.

True tranquil get away!
This is such a well kept rustic home, true classic! Big, very comfortable beds and; perfect for any family. Water front views is the greatest piece of serenity to wake up to. Internet could stand more bandwidth...spotty. A kitchen with all the items you’d need and all very clean and well presented. I would definitely recommend this treasure in the beautiful town of Wapwallopen, Pa.

Very relaxing
Very homey, quiet and relaxing get away. We especially enjoyed drinking morning coffee on the porch watching the lake. The kids enjoyed kayaking, the lake is very quiet. The house is everything a lake house should be, a little rustic and very homey.

Great getaway
Place was perfect for our family vacation! Lake was beautiful and clear! Great place for canoe rides, floating, or swimming. Would love to go back! Time stands still there - very peaceful and relaxing! Owner was quick to answer all of my questions leading up to our trip and on our trip - though I only had a few :) I don’t ever write reviews but this was our first family trip to a lake and it was great! Thank you!!

Family Fun
Home was nicely equipped and comfortable,. Despite it's age it exceeded our expectations. We especially enjoyed rear sunroom with beautiful views of lake, Exterior of house could use some work. i would highly recommend this home for everyone with the exception of the elderly as all 4 bedrooms are on 2nd floor. We hung out on the dock most days and enjoyed kayaking, tubing, and catching blue gills in a very peaceful and beautiful setting , For the adventurous and athletic I would highly recommend a hike on the Falls Trail at nearby Ricketts Glen State Park. Fyi the ages in our group ranged from 22 to 89 , We will definitely consider returning again next year

Lake house
It is old home that is kept in original state. The wild life around is a joy if you like to animal watch. Has a nice dock and was great for family gathering to sit on the front porch and enjoy the lake view. Couches in TV room could use being replaced, but other than that, it was a quaint lake house and we slept well on the comfort beds.

Lake Paradise
Hi this was our family's second trip to Lily Lake and it remained an unbelievable calming and inspiring family experience. Again, plenty of fun was had in surrounding areas. But the lake took center stage. Incredible swimming, room to row and paddle around or just float. Almost always quite and private on the lake. The house is 100% character. We love historic homes and interiors. Jack has sprung for AC and some other amenities so we of course welcome that, but did not need it as the house sells itself. Can't wait to return.

Incredible view and lake access
The property itself was just as described: an older home right on the lake with a lot of charm and great views. We enjoyed the generous dining room and sunny living spaces with different areas for our family to eat, read, play games, make art, etc. The beds were incredibly comfy, and all the appliances (fridge, microwave, washer, dryer) were newer and worked great. No dishwasher though. The TV was also pretty basic and didn't have any kids channels, even though they were listed. And wifi was not great, and it was hard to make calls or even text. But that was fine - we were there to disconnect from screens, after all. We enjoyed canoeing on the lake and fishing on the dock, even though it was chilly. Fortunately, the heat in the house worked fine. What was less fine was not to be able to drink or cook with the brown water that came out of the pipes for the first few days of our stay. This was due to the torrential rains from a few days prior overflowing into the well water. Jack kindly sent gallons of bottled water for us to drink, so we weathered that adventure. Jack was a very responsive and kind host, but unfortunately, he was not able to fully address another major problem. The kitchen, while fully equipped with dishes, utensils, etc was not clean and the lower drawers, cabinets, and counters were covered in mouse droppings. I imagine that since we were there in early May, the house was vacant for the winter and we were the first tenants? We had to clean everything we wanted to use first. When reported to Jack, traps were set. In due course, we discovered a dead mouse and needed to dispose of it. My kids thought this was all part of the adventure, but I was not as amused. We made the best of it - we ordered in (pizza is decent) and also took day trips to the nearby state parks. Moon Lake is beautiful and Ricketts Glen is not to be missed! The ice cream shop in Shickshinny "Udder Delites" was amazing too. The area is truly gorgeous, and in spite of our misadventures we really loved Lily Lake and the house, which is just the kind of place we would like to own someday. A few improvements we might suggest are: clarification of check in and check out procedures prior to our visit, as well as a having a listing of recommended restaurants and things to do in the area.

An essential place in the choice of vacation rental property. If you're seeking a quiet landscape with a water front, Lily Lake is spectacular! We caught the reflection of the moon on the lake...OMG! The house is somewhat rustic, however, has all the essentials for a comfortable stay in the mountains. Jack, the property owner was in communication the whole time when needed! Thank you for the hospitality Jack.

Beautiful Lake
The beautiful lake was the highlight of this property. It was lovely to sit on the dock especially in the morning and evenings. It's ideal for fisherman and canoe/kayakers, not good for swimming due to the overgrown vegetation. We ended up driving an hour away to get to a lake where my 3 year old could safely swim. The house is very spacious and was very clean, but not kept up as much as we inferred from the pictures. The handle of one of the dinner table chairs kept coming off and the pipe holding up the shower curtain kept disconnecting from the wall and falling down (among other small things). The backyard is beautiful and the lake is quiet and peaceful. But downside is the neighbors are very close. There are about 7 houses that all share the same grassy slope. It also wasn't clear which amenities belonged to our house and which to the neighbors. Someone in an earlier review mentioned enjoying a hammock. I'm 7 months pregnant, so after walking up the hill I sat down in it to rest in the hammock and was swiftly kicked out by the neighbor who told me if I wanted to use it I'd have to "buy it" -not the friendliest guy. So, don't make the mistake of using the hammock , picnic table or canoe that is left out, none of this belongs to the property. There is a canoe in the cellar we pulled out and used, and we later discovered a map on the refrigerator ( amongst a bunch of other papers) that showed what actually belonged to the property (but no mention of the hammock) -I'd reco leaving this out more prominently on the kitchen table. Where to park also isn't clear, so I'd recommend getting that info before hand so you don't mistakenly park in front of the neighbor's shed. Overall, we had a nice stay. Jack responded promptly answering our questions. As I said before this is great for fisherman, kayakers, or a quiet escape, not so much for families with kids because most stuff to do is an hour away.

A Complete and Unforgettable Gem
We were so absolutely pleased with Jack's place on Lily Lake. There are a number of things that are not perfectly clear in the pictures and reviews. First off, the home is a treasure. Old, well built, large, stately and well-maintained. The lake is literally perfect for swimming. There is an enormous section of the lake where swimming is allowed. The other areas of the lake were very peacefully used, usually by meditative fisherman and a few kayakers. The property view of the lake is magnificent. All the finest touches in a rental space. Kitchen equipment, a canoe, outdoor chairs, the works. In a word, perfection for our family get together.

Lily Lake is a Wold Class Lake Destination
My family enjoyed a wonderful week at this property. Ill try tongive you a complete picture of what our stay was like: Cons: The house is an older lake cottage with original kitchen, one bathroom to serve all guests and furniture that is very functional but dated. Pros: What the accomodations lack in luxury, the lake and the amenities make up for by being the best of the Poconos. The friendly host really cares about.providing a great experience in a lake vacation. There are lots of floats and water toys and the beautiful waterfront deck make the pristine lake very accessible for swimming, fishing and boating. Lily Lake is by far the calmest most peaceful lake we've ever stayed at. We also found many parks and attractions in the area which made the vacation very memorable. Overall, I would very strongly recommend this vacation remtal for anyone who enjoys the peace and quiet of a mountain lake, and the incredible.hiking and outdoor space that the Poconos offers.

Quiet, Peaceful location
We had a great stay, our second at this property. Jack is quick to respond and a pleasure. The cottage is perfect as a quiet getaway, there are very few other people on the lake, mostly a few kayakers and fisherman. While the lake is a little weedy, we spent many happy hours on floats or swimming beyond the weeds. The location is remote, so we brought all of our own food. Again, Thank you, Jack, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

2020 lake house getaway
The owner Jack was very quick to respond to our many questions. My daughters wanted to try a lake house vacation instead of the beach. They were very happy. We brought our kayaks and there is a canoe at the house. They enjoyed the freedom. Of going off on their own catching salamanders and sunfish. Thanks Jack!

Great quiet get away
After reading some of the reviews I pictured a much busier experience. A nice quiet road with quiet neighbors and a quiet lake even on labor day. The lake was great to swim in, dock great for fishing and neighbors were very nice. They are a bit close on one side, but this house has an "end lot" feel with only really close neighbor compared to other houses on the road. Jack was communicative and flexible. 5* stay and host

A lovely quiet lakeside retreat.
We loved our stay at the cottage on Lily Lake. So peaceful and the lake is beautiful. We enjoyed taking trips to visit local attractions--Ricketts Glen for hiking the gorgeous waterfalls trails, Jim Thorpe for biking, and Scranton for the Lackawanna Coal Mine tour. We enjoyed every minute of our time in this wonderful area.

It's a beautiful lake!
We thoroughly enjoyed boating, fishing, and reading by this lovely lake! Having read previous reviews about guests swimming, I was very surprised when our swimming was interrupted by a park ranger telling us we had to get out of the water. Apparently, swimming is not allowed. Too bad, because the water was delightful! We also hiked a couple days at Ricketts Glen. Wonderful! The house is comfortable. It is, however, very close to the neighbors, who were very noisy late into the night.

Wonderful way to reconnect with family
I booked the house because it looked like the house my husband and his family used to own. It was quaint, lovely, and quiet - oh so quiet. It has all of the charm of a lake house -- with AC, which was needed during our stay. Canoeing on the lake was probably our favorite pastime. My brother-in-law said that he could vacation here every year. All of us live on the west coast, so don't know how practical this will be, but it expresses our sentiment. Jack is a great owner to work with. He responded quickly and checked in with us during our stay. Thank you!

Rustic and peaceful
We enjoyed our time on the lake and found Jack to be very easy to work with in making arrangements and getting information. The area is lovely, and we visited Jim Thorpe on the way to Lily Lake and hiked at Rickett's Glen while there. The house is spacious though a bit rustic in some details. The front porch was a popular space for our group to read and relax.

Fabulous Family Getaway on a Serene Lake!
We stayed at Jack's house on Lily Lake -- 5 adults, a 4-1/2 year old and a two year old. Pictures and reviews can be misleading, so while we were very excited I (as the arranger of the whole thing) felt a little bit of trepidation. I shouldn't have! The house is LOVELY. Large, gracious and comfortable. Down to earth, but full of charm. The four-poster "pineapple beds" set the mood. The huge dining room was home base. A large table for family meals, Scrabble games, etc., plus a round table for a different activity center, and four year-old Ida was delighted to find a little desk and rocker in the corner for her art projects. Two couches and chair in living room were wonderful as a conversation center, and this tall woman stretched out for a terrific afternoon nap when everyone else was out and about. Sun porch was also very commodious, but as we had perfect weather, we didn't have to do rain day activities. Table in kitchen was fine for breakfast and lunch, as those meals were drop in. Kitchen was well equipped with all the basics. My only request would be a couple of good, sharp knives for chopping vegetables, etc. Saving the best til last: outdoors! The lawn with stately trees sloping down to the dock was lovely -- I'll cherish the memory of granddaughters barreling down the hill to the dock. (Two year old Louisa was able to stop herself for help with the "big step" on and off the dock. ) They found the hammock enchanting. It was late July, and we were blown away by how quiet and serene Lily Lake is. There are several houses long "our" side of the lake, quite close by, but we felt as though we had it to ourselves. It felt like our private lake. Our only encounters were with early morning and twilight fisherman, silent trawling across the lake. We were captivated by the eagle that made three -four appearances per day. We loved canoeing -- the women were better than the men! We're swimmers, and a few of us were disconcerted by the lily pads and their tendrils that we had to swim through to get to clear water. I wasn't! And maybe those lovely lilies that give the lake its name account for the peace and serenity, which is just what we were looking for and found. That and the fact that there is no strip of beach for little ones to wade in. It was all assisted by flotation device swimming which worked fine for out two. Jack was a very accommodating host, and a great communicator. Practically PERFECT!
