About this property

The Bunkhouse at Bighorn Gulch

The Gulch sits on the South Fork of the John Day River. An 1880s chuck wagon greets you as you pull into the driveway. As you wind down into the Gulch you will see why the John Day River territory is such a beautiful place.

The Bunkhouse sleeps up to 10 in an open floor plan style bunkhouse. There are three queen beds and a queen air mattress on the lower level and a semi-private loft area with a king size bed. Great for families and groups who like togetherness. Also for hunters s there are several main hunting units near the property.

River paradise!

As a family of four, the bunkhouse was a perfect place to spend spring break together! Kimmee was an exceptional host, reaching out to help coordinate our arrival and responsive via text to any questions we had during our stay. We loved watching the river waters change each day and the abundance of wildlife that came to visit. The bunkhouse was fun and cozy with plenty of firewood and a good supply of games. The location was a perfect jumping off point for exploring the painted hills and fossil hunting. My kids are already asking when can we go back! Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us :)

GREAT Place In The Middle of Nowhere

We had three adults and one teenager going to Dayville, Oregon for a little last-minute 2023 turkey hunting. This was a very comfortable place to stay in Dayville. Everything was clean and ready to go, the wood stove was comfy and more than enough to keep the place toasty warm, and the kitchen was fully equipped and very functional. If you're looking for a base of operations for city adventures, keep looking. If you're looking for a quite, comfy place to get away from civilization for a while, this is perfect!

Great Spot!

We spent a couple of nights at the bunkhouse and really enjoyed both the accomodations and exploring the surrounding country. Would definitely come back again!

Hidden Gem

Beautiful bunkhouse outside of Dayville Oregon. The house is immaculate and has a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. We saw deer and wild turkeys daily out the back door daily during our stay. Hope to visit again in the future!
