I made my reservation on May 6, 2023, and was charged for the stay on May 6, 2023. My reservation was for October 13 - 15, 2023. On my drive to Spicewood on October 13, I was informed that I did not have a reservation. Let me again say that I was already charged for the very reservation they insisted I did not have. Now I am forced to fight for a refund. I emphatically recommend you look elsewhere for a place to stay in Spicewood. These people are not trustworthy.

Quaint cottage with coziness in mind.

The house was tucked away in a section of Spicewood that is a located within 5 or 6 minutes of a winery, distillery, general store, local artisan coffee drive thru, and Opie's BBQ. The accommodations were great with plenty of home items provided. The beds were super comfortable. There were lots of places to sit inside and outside the house to take in the country vibe. There is a common theme of upcycled items that make the place and the surroundings very unique.

Quiet and comfy

We really enjoyed our stay here. The décor was so eclectic and fun. It was a very nice get away and we felt hidden from the world, which was perfect.

The house was very cozy, comfortable and clean.

It’s a great property. Easy to check in and out. The location of the property is very nice. Krause Springs is less than a mile away and there’s great food vendors in the vicinity.

There are a few things that I think would improve the experience. These are things that have been available at other properties I have rented. The kitchen was lacking in supplies including measuring cups and spoons, larger pots and pans, a cookie sheet, and a cake pan or roasting pan, and utensils. I would also recommend that you have at least one plunger in the house. We did not need it, but you’d want it there if someone did. Other than that, everything else was comfortable and to our satisfaction.

Quaint and peaceful getaway

My family loves this really cute Mellow Yellow house. Very peaceful and quiet, spacious green yard with hammock and fire pit. House was impeccably clean and comfortable and even had homemade cookies waiting for us.

Great time in the Hill Country

For us, this was a a Spring Break getaway to the Hill Country. The hole was perfect for my family of five. We cooked, we bbq'd, ever evening gathered around the fire pit, all followed up with friendly and timely management for any needs.

Anniversary Retreat

My wife and I decided to take a short trip for our 27th anniversary and we found the Mellow Yellow house in Spicewood. This is just the right amount of comfort, seclusion, funkiness, and art all packed into one setting. When we walked in, they had jazz playing on the TV. Being a jazz musician, my wife asked me if I had turned on the music. I said no, that it was playing when I walked in, which impressed her very much. The house was very clean and well stocked with cooking utensils, silverware, paper towels, and the works! The beds are comfortable and we were able to sleep well and unwind. Make sure you visit The Joint, which is about 100 yards from the Mellow Yellow house. It’s a treasure trove of funky art and antiques that will take you back. The proprietor of The Joint was very friendly and even built us a fire for that evening, which was perfect since a cold front moved in. If you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind with just the right amount of central Texas cool and funkiness, this is the place for you.

We visited for my mother's birthday and we loved it. The property is tucked away and very quiet. The home was very clean and well maintained. It had everything we needed and the property manager was easily accessible by phone. The home has a great location with having a convenient store down the street and a few wineries not far away. I would highly recommend this property and we will certainly keep it in mind for future use.

Austin eclectic & artsy! Close to good stuff in area.

If you love the eclectic artsy places then this house is for you. We could have spent all our time just looking at every tiny detail, so cute. The beds were NICE! No cheap mattresses here. The kitchen was fully stocked. We’ve been burned in past so we brought pots & cooking tools but they really had it all. The grounds were peaceful and spacious for just sitting around the fire pit. Too hot our weekend but bring S’mores kits if you’re there when it’s cool. Plenty of space for us and our teenagers. We had an amazing time!

What makes this property unique

Relax and enjoy horseshoes, washers, darts, corn-hole and a good ole fashioned bon-fire.
Unwind in our reading room with a view of trees, birds and nature. Our guesthouse is like a step back in time. The guesthouse sits behind the original historic post office built in the late 1890's early 1900 and the guesthouse is the original postmistress home. Guest's describe the house as quiet, relaxing and "quaint".
