Cozy neighborhood Apartment 10 minutes walking from Downtown

I used to live in this place until August 2019, I move to a bigger place with my family, but I always Will want to come back to Jalatlaco.
If you are looking for an apartment close to downtown or Spanish schools, you found it. Ideal for families or two couples or a group of friends, with three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, one for each room. Full equipment kitchen everything you need to cook delicious meals, the living room with two couches, TV, and a dinner table. Inside terraza with water fontain, hamaca, perfect to chill and read.
Wi-Fi available and cable TV, a few English channels. Feel a Cousy environment, with decorations of Oaxaca, and family artist paints.
Let me talk about Jalatlaco, the neighborhood, close to downtown, quiet, historic barrio, cobblestone Streets, locals use to take pictures in this Street, this is a traditional Barrio, great for Semana Santa festivities, and a point of references during the Día de Muertos, local comparsa and dance during this days.

La casa del barrio

The apartment is cozy, well located and fairly well maintained, Ricardo, the owner is helpful and readily available, although needs some upkeep since it was low in elemental items (glasses, drinking cups, bowls, etc) but overall it was a good experience. We could easily return to it sometime in the future

Loved our stay in Oaxaca

This apartment met all of our needs. It was clean, well supplied, had several fans and space heaters to use if needed. Communication with the owner was easy and he was always responsive.

Perfect location

We absolutely could not have found a more perfect location to stay at for dia de los muertos! The neighborhood was beautiful, the house was amazing, and Ricardo was so easy to get in touch with! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Oaxaca. We will definitely book here again the next time we are there!

Great Location

We have rented Ricardo’s apartments multiple times because of their proximity to our families’ homes in Jalatlaco. The neighborhood is full of life, many places to eat and walking distance to El Centro. The apartment is spacious and private.

A great 16 day stay in Oaxaca

A wonderful cozy 3 bedroom apartment located in the best part of Oaxaca. Great restaurants nearby and historic downtown just a short walk away. Ricardo was always available and extremely helpful! Loved our time here!

Great location

Our stay here was great for 4 adults. We had plenty of room and the 3 bathrooms gave everybody there own space. The central outdoor patio was excellent and provided a nice retreat from the mid-day sun. The kitchen had all the basics, but with so many great restaurants around we did not cook at home that much. There is laundry one block down the street (Lavandería de Rosi) that provided excellent service. Overall, the place was perfect for our needs and being on the first floor was cool especially at night--which was nice to get a good night sleep (some apartments higher up in Oaxaca remain hot throughout the night). Great neighbourhood with restaurants nearby. As well there is a Polideportivo complex nearby for nice walks or runs.

Wonderful neighborhood! Just what we were looking for...

My family of 5 spent 3 weeks in Oaxaca city at Ricardo's apartment. The location couldn't have been better. We walked everywhere and despite being in the center, the street was lovely and quiet. Great restaurants, tortilla stands, coffee shops, lavandaria, and a lovely park were all just a few blocks away at the most. We walked and explored all over the town with this as our home spot. The apartment was exactly as it appears in the pictures. Ricardo was very responsive and even kindly added a bed to one of the rooms to accommodate our family's size. While the upstairs was loud at times, that's to be expected in an apartment but I do recommend if traveling with kids, bring some sort of white noise machine. Overall, I hope we can return at some point and I can't recommend this spot enough!

Excellent experience

Staying at the Casa del Barrio was a pleasant experience. It is in a beautiful neighborhood and easy walking distance to downtown. The owner, Ricardo, was super helpful from the moment we made the reservation until we left for the airport to go home after a week. We were in town for a destination wedding and it couldn’t have been a nicer lodging experience.

Best neighborhood in Oaxaca.

Ricardo was the perfect host. Communicating with him was a breeze. The apartment was very comfortable with nice personal touches. The real highlight of this property is the neighborhood that surrounds it. The barrio of Jalatlaco is incredible. So colorful and full of life. Also very close to everything that we wanted to visit and experience in Oaxaca. We walked everywhere. It was a truly memorable stay! We’ll done, Ricardo!

Family Thanksgiving in Oaxaca

We rented the entire building (all three units) for a family vacation. My 81 year old parents stayed in the ground floor unit with my adult children, my brother's family stayed in the middle unit with his teenager children and my wife and I took the top floor unit. Ricardo, who is very responsive, leant us a larger table which we used for a few dinners and game playing at night. We spent a lot of time on the top floor terrace in the afternoons and evenings. The location and neighborhood couldn't be better.

Casa del barrio was an excellent place to stay. It is located in a beautiful artistic area.

We truly enjoyed the property. Every bedroom had its own bathroom which provided much privacy. Each bedroom also had access to an outside patio. The kitchen was fully equipped and Ricardo responded quickly to our needs. The property is located in walking distance to the various murals, mercado, restaurants and neighborhood boutiques. Also, transportation is so so reasonable. I will be staying here again in the near future. Thank you Ricardo for maintaining your property in excellent condition. Charming house and neighborhood

The property is located in the perfect location in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Oaxaca City. The neighborhood has places to eat within a few fee. Loved the Love Cafè for breakfast in the morning, and just around the corner. I needed to do laundry, and found Rosy's laundry services from her house within a few houses on the same street. All is exceptional. Would stay there again.

Great Location In Oaxaca!

We enjoyed the stay at Oaxaca Centro. The gardens were lovely and the birds singing were fun to hear in the morning as well as the evening, especially the uh oh bird! We were very comfortable with the accommodations. The only problem we had was the hot water in the showers. My daughter and I both had cold showers the last day which definitely woke us up! A wonderful place to stay as you explore the beautiful city of Oaxaca.

Amazing, safe, comfy, PERFECT location

I reserved the 3 bedroom but ended up staying there by myself. So had more room than necessary! But it was such a lovely apartment. Very safe. The whole town is safe, but also you enter the building first thru a metal gate into the patio, and then the apartments are set back from there and also lock individually. So even as a woman traveling alone I felt extra secure. The space was happy and beautifully decorated. The Netflix worked great for nights when I was to tired to do anything else. The kitchen seemed to be just fine but I never cooked bc I was lazy and BC there are so many inexpensive and yummy places so close. There are 2 gorgeous coffee shops withinf a block or two that serve from breakfast until late night, a fancy hotel If you want a rooftop cocktail or meal. And many many other options. The colectivos and buses to go to the nearby towns leave from a spot only a 10 minute walk away. And the main tourist center is an easy 12-15 minute walk (if you go very slowly as I often did BC the neighborhoods are so beautiful!!) Ricardo connected me to a fabulous taxi driver, and was super fast to respond. The only thing to be aware of is that hot water for showers is a little tricky - it doesn’t last long, and it’s hard to get it not to be TOO hot when it’s hot. But the climate is so lovely that this was not something I really even tried to solve. Beds and sheets are all comfy and very nice quality. And I had plenty of hot water in the sink to wash some clothes when I wanted to.
