We stayed 5 nights, the home was lovely, had everything we needed plus more. Great communication with the owner. Good location for exploring the whole island. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the verandah enjoying the breeze, view and sounds around us.
This was a great space for all of us to stretch out and be comfortable after a full day of exploring. The nature sounds were peaceful and easy to go to sleep to. The lanai was amazing!
Overall, it’s a nice clean house, but really there’s no comfortable chair or couch to sit on in the living room to watch the TV. The couches a futon with the springs popping out in the two chairs he had were not comfortable to sit in. Don’t get me wrong I’m a 6 foot three man so it’s hard for me to find a comfortable chair. Overall nice place good shopping center up the street about 5 miles good food at the Black rock Café. Just kind of far from Hilo and lots of traffic to get to it in and out.
We came to explore the island trails (hiking and snorkeling) and did much driving (1 to 2.5 hours each way a day) and hiking so our time at the rental was limited to sleeping and eating, showering, doing laundry (a fantastic outdoor sink to clean gear) and using the WiFi (great signal). Everything worked well for our needs. We appreciated the owner’s response time to one of our requests and their generosity in supplying masks, snorkels, chairs etc for our water time explorations. Watching the volcano erupt at Volcano National Park was a highlight of our trip. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their home with us.
This is a very unique experience we all had. Chirping birds, abundant greenscape, large windows with good cross ventilation, thoughtful amenities throughout. 7 min walk to the ocean. 10 min drive to shopping area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The home was exactly as advertised. It was a nice place for my wife and I to enjoy some time away.
It was a bit further from Pahoa than we expected, and having to bring our own water for drinking was inconvenient, but overall we definitely enjoyed our stay and used the snorkeling equipment.
The house was the perfect size. Definitely needs some updating.... from beds to fridge. No A/C was rough. Yard was beautiful with lots of wilderness and wildlife around to view.
Me and my family enjoy to stay at this house, its big and plenty room to accommodate for 5 of us and have 2 bathroom , is clean and the bed is nice and comfy for us also the dining kitchen area it's nice
Nice view and the backyard and finally my kids so excited when we see the pigs family..
Good communication with Robert while i have a question to him
Definitely be back if i stay at Hilo area..

The area was ok and the lanai was lovely. It was nice to have 2 bathrooms. It was very warm and there was an off putting smell in the house. We took pictures of the less than clean bathrooms and some other areas. If this had been a hotel, we would not have stayed, but we felt stuck having booked the place for 6 nights. Our second vrbo for the second half of the trip feels like a breath of fresh air.
We had a relaxing time away from crowds of thousands purists at this home. There is a nice shopping area a few miles away and Hilo is a 30 minute drive with the big city feel. This home was situated between the volcanoes and the waterfalls with some nice swimming places in Hilo. Lovely out of the touristy way, vacation. Feel like an islander.

A convenient location for our stay on the Big Island, the new shopping area was excellent for groceries if we decided to cook at the house and the location to Volcano National Park was awesome. The house was well stocked with everything that we needed and the communication from the owner was second to none as he checked in almost daily to make sure that we were satisfied with everything. We would stay again if we ever visit Hawaii's Big Island. Thank you!
We enjoyed a wonderful stay...particularly the rear deck where we had our meals and utilized the provided gas grill as well as enjoyng our morning coffee surrounded by wildlife. The property is an older one and has many pluses and amenites, however, it could benefit from some updating.
It is well located, easy to explore Pahoa from this base. Thank you for sharing your home .
I’m finally getting around to writing this review. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home had everything to meet our needs for a honeymoon and vow renewal. We had a little kitten that visited us each day, chickens that woke us each morning, and even a few visits from wild boars. The house is dated and could use some deep cleaning as it had a weird smell for the duration of our stay. The hosts were very responsive, and we loved being in Pahoa, away from all of the tourist. We were able to drive around the island every day. There is a beautiful park with spectacular cliffs and photo opportunities a short walk away. Definitely take advantage of it. Thanks for great memories.

Grandma’s well worn 1980’s house
We arrived to find the house closed up and very warm, hot actually. Outdated, worn out countertops with gunk around the old sink. No dishwasher and BIG roaches in the silverware drawer. All of it just felt like going to grandmas house… a year after she went to a home.
It was 8pm and 72 outside, 90 inside.
No A/C in the 3 bedrooms, stifling to others before us apparently , floor and window fans provided minimal relief. All of the home feels old.
All that being said, we spent most of time at the house on the lovely back porch. The new, clean grill was used daily.
Proximity to Volcanos National Park is a 30 minute drive, the back yard is lovely, but adjoins another home that cancels out its privacy due to its location deeper on its lot.
Thisvwas a perfect get away for us. Private enough for us to feel away from the city and close enough that we coukd get everything we needed. The sounds of nature at night wisked us away from our mainland stresses by the very first night.
We found the property to be a good base for exploring the east side of the island (Hilo, volcano national park, etc) property has everything we needed for a nice stay.
Be sure to go to the property before you go shopping as there is a variety of dry goods, bug spray, toiletries, snorkeling gear and such that you may not need to purchase.
Robert was attentive as a host, checking in to make sure we had everything and that we had no issues. Thanks for a great holiday stay.

This was a very special place for us, because of the feel of the property was just amazing. This place is definitely a must stay!
This home was a home away from home! Super comfortable, easy access, less than 2 minutes away from a nice sea cliff you can take photos at. Really enjoyed staying here, the owner was very easy to contact if we needed anything and responded very quickly too. 100/100 will definitely be traveling here again in the future.
This property is located for visitors to see the real Hawaii. The park at the ocean is breathtaking. The tropical backyard with beautiful plants and palm trees was a relaxing setting. There was plenty of wildlife to add wonder to our stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the use of snorkels was amazing! The grocery store and plaza just 5 miles away is lovely.
This house was clean and roomy as described. Overall nice place to stay with a great back porch. There was only 1 window unit in the house, so it did get a little bit warm.

Why they chose this property
We love this property because it provides a lot of privacy within a tropical environment with lush plant growth while being very close to the ocean.
What makes this property unique
You feel like you're in a tropical retreat with a lot of mana while having the convenience of being close to the ocean as well as old Pahoa town and shops. Ideal for a get away to just relax outside in our large lanai or go sight seeing at the Volcano and other tourist spots.
