This charming cottage was perfect for our stay in Aiken. Clean, kitchen fully equipped, location to great restaurants and historical sites. Great neighborhood to walk our 2 dogs. We have been using VBRO for 18+ years and this is a home we would return to.

Roll of the dice...
This little house is in a convenient location, cute as a button and a great place for pets with a fenced backyard. My wife and I reserved it for November 10 – 21, 2023, and brought our two little dogs.
Upon arrived we noticed a distinct musty odor permeating the house and a particularly strong odor in the bed, i.e., linens and pillows. The odor transferred to our clothing and left it smelling until it was washed.
Next we encountered a large cockroach on the kitchen floor and another one in the bedroom. We notified the owner of her pest problem, asked to be refunded the portion of our unused reservation, and disrupting plans, left after just three nights.
After admitting she found a creepy-crawly right after we left, the owner will not concede she has a pest problem and calls us SCAMMERS. She has professional pest control treat the premises.
Why hire a pest control company if there is not a pest control problem?
Subsequent communication has led to her calling us scammers, telling us not to visit to Aiken anymore, and refusing to refund the unused portion of our reservation.
Stay at this place or don’t stay at this place. You’ve been warned.
PS There was extraneous doggie dodo in the backyard…
Perfect! Look forward to my next trip to Aiken. I’ll book again for sure.
Easy and wonderful host. Highly recommend staying while visiting Aiken.

Why they chose this property
I bought this Cottage because of the great location, the fact that it was historic, an easy walk or bike ride to downtown. and it had a variety of options for indoor and outdoor entertaining. Also convenient to great Public Golf course. The house had wonderful "bones" - just needed some TLC and it has everything now that I wanted in a home and for a part time rental property.
