Perfect Quiet Getaway

We had a blast at this spot, the owners were very sweet and took great care of it. Monona is a sleepy Midwest town that is a great break from the city. Our dogs enjoyed the stay as well, and the house was perfect for all of us. The neighbors were kind and the owners cat came to greet us every morning which was adorable. Thank you for an awesome stay!

Clean, Cozy, Comfortable!

We really enjoyed this house. The big dining table was perfect for meals and games with our friends, and we really appreciated the clean and fully appointed kitchen. Beds were very comfortable, bathrooms clean and filled with what we needed. Our dog was obnoxious, but the neighbor dogs were super nice to him, anyway. This is a little gem in Monona.

Beautiful home in a lovely location!

This was a great place for our little family to stay while we visited relatives nearby. We had plenty of space and were grateful to be able to travel with our dog, an important part of the family. This house was clean, well supplied, and has all the great features described and pictured on VRBO. We especially enjoyed the backyard, with the fire pit and neighboring horses. We also thought the beds were quite comfortable!

Great vacation spot

This was a wonderful property for a family of 6 to hang out. The house had all the amenities that we could possibly want. The neighborhood was quiet. The owners were very nice and left lots of information about the area. A nice little orange kitty stopped by daily for some outside pets. The town was super easy to navigate by car or on foot. There's a nice trail close by. And there were tons of fun trails/towns/events within driving distance. I would recommend highly recommend this listing!

About the host

Hosted by Bridget & Tim Schlein

Host profile image
I grew up in Illinois but after graduating from college in Dubuque, Iowa, I loved Iowa so much I decided to stay. I met my husband Tim at our mutual friend’s wedding and we got married in 2010. We always thought we would stay in Dubuque but found ourselves wanting our children to have the same small town experiences we had growing up. A few years ago, we decided to relocate to Tim’s home town of Monona to be closer to family. We love the many outdoor activities and experiences our family is able to do here. We hope you enjoy your stay!

Why they chose this property

Tim and I were excited to purchase this home in 2019 after the prior owner approached us about buying it. I love to decorate and we are “do it yourselfers” as much as possible with the help of our supportive family. We thought this was the perfect opportunity for us to have a space for our family and friends to stay when they visit and fill the lodging gap in our community.

What makes this property unique

From original woodwork to the hardwood floors, this house has lots of historical charm. The front porch is the most peaceful place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and watch the world go by.
