This peaceful, coastal retreat on the rocky coast of Maine overlooking Watts and Cutler coves has more than 250 feet of shoreline perfect for kayaking, swimming, wading, and exploring the shoreline. Enjoy morning coffee by the water, and at dusk linger over a glass of wine as the sunset deepens. Secluded, yet within easy reach of Rockland, Camden, and all the treasures of mid-coast Maine. This property offers an unusual combination of peace, natural beauty, and accessibility.
An architect's renovation of a lobsterman's cottage (built in 1972), the house retains its original fieldstone fireplace in a contemporary open plan design. The property consists of a 2-bedroom main house and 1-bedroom guest cottage. The main house has floor-to-ceiling windows, well-equipped kitchen, bedrooms, living room, dining area opening onto a large deck, tiled bath, and large deck - all with gorgeous views (and spectacular sunsets) over a saltwater tidal inlet of the St. George River. Just a few steps away (but a world apart), the guest cottage offers a light-filled bedroom with cathedral ceiling, bath, private deck, and expansive water views. Both main and guest houses are just feet from water's edge. Both, furnished with elegance and simplicity, feature clean lines, light-filled, flowing spaces, lovely bedding and bamboo floors. At the end of a quiet lane, this airy, one-level home sits on a large, gently sloping lawn with rocky outcroppings, and mature trees - all set against an ever-changing, dramatic backdrop of water and sky.
Explore the river by kayak (3) or canoe (1), swim from the shore, pick berries in season, dabble in tide pools, watch herons, eagles, eider ducks, osprey, and eagles, as well as the occasional seal, otter, and loon. Enjoy lingering sunsets over the water, and starry night skies. Outdoor amenities include Adirondack chairs, fire pit, kayaks, canoe, charcoal grill, hammock, swing, and picnic table. Find comfort, ease, and peace of mind at this exquisite property!
This waterfront getaway is within easy reach of beaches, museums, galleries, cafes, bookstores, as well as film, music, and live performance venues, renowned restaurants with eclectic cuisines, lovely fishing villages, lighthouses, farm stands and farmers markets. (Not to mention the highly-regarded lobster shacks that dot the coast). Or kick back in the hammock under the trees and do less!

Notes
• Our guests love to use the kayaks and canoe, and enjoy the gorgeous sunsets over the water while lounging in Adirondack chairs. They report bird and wildlife sightings (from eagles to seals, osprey, herons, ducks, loons, and once -- a moose). The house and property are secluded yet close to mid-coast Maine's unique opportunities for dining, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, art-viewing, antiquing, golfing, island-hopping, whale watching, and other adventures. Guests often say, returning to the property is the best part of going out! I have devoted much attention to the house and grounds since acquiring the property in 2019, and will continue to make improvements to enhance the quality of my guests' experience every year. It is a pleasure to share a place I love with others who appreciate it as much as we do. The housekeeper comes weekly, on Saturdays to change beds, vacuum, and clean thoroughly.
