About this property
Ocean View 5 bedroom villa with private pool, sleeps 10 persons
Away from the tourists, yet close to the most beautiful and empty beaches. Enjoy the breezy and safe residential neighborhood of Belair. This location is most suitable for travelers seeking peace and nature. Keep in mind there is NO NIGHTLIFE in walking distance and a car is highly recommended. Reliable 250 Mbps internet.
Forget the south or west coast! While those are the most popular sides of the island, they are very crowded, noisy, while the dogs stay barking all night and the beaches are eroding. Simply put: it’s a tourist trap. While the south-east coast, where our bright yellow home is located, represents the true Bajan spirit: mellow and friendly.
My spacious home with a 10m long salt water pool, is located on the south-east part of the island. This part of the island is known for its cooling Atlantic breeze. It's walking distance to the five most beautiful and uncrowded beaches, my favorite being Shark Hole-no sharks-, Crane beach and Bottom Bay. With its rugged, beautiful scenery, our quiet neighborhood is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the south and west coasts.
There are two separate apartments that are connected by a lockable door. The top floor apartment has two bedrooms, one shower and an open kitchen. It is furnished with an Indonesian furniture and has high ceilings with an amazing ocean view. There is a huge partially-covered patio equipped with an brand new outdoor sofa, two dining room tables as well as two lounge chairs.
The second apartment on the ground floor has three bedrooms, fully equipped granite countertop kitchen, two bathrooms, as well as a luxurious outdoor shower with a rain shower head-hot and cold water. There is a large patio with a sofa and two lounge chairs.
LOCATION
The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach. However the best beaches are 15-30 minutes away (on foot) or 5-10 minutes by car. They include:
- Shark Hole (5 min walk)
- Bottom Bay Beach (our favorite!)
- Crane Beach (perfect for boogie boarding and has a lifeguard)
- Sam Lords Castle Beach
- Harrismith Beach
Plus a few more secret beaches, which we're happy to share with you!
In addition, we are close to all the essentials:
15 minutes - Airport
20 minutes - Oistins Fish Market or the nightlife area, St. Lawrence Gap
10 minutes - Emerald City Supermarket
WHAT TO EXPLORE
My favorite beaches: Shark Hole (no sharks there, I promise), Ginger Bay, Bottom Bay and Crane are all in the walking distance, Crane beach is the best for boogie boarding (feel free to use mine). Miami & Dover Beach are on the south. The calmest sea, suitable for kids & elderly is on Carib (right next to St. Lawrence Gap) and Brownes beach (just before Bridgetown). Keep in mind, the west coast beaches are are more narrow (eroding) and also much more touristy.
More things to explore: I highly recommend a day trip to Batsheba, Martin's Bay on the east coast. Animal Flower Cave and Little Bay on the north side of the island. It’s absolutely beautiful. The sea is very rough there, but you can still take a swim at the small pools inside the cave and on the little beach protected by the reefs at Little Bay. Make sure you wear a bathing suit everywhere. I suggest leaving early in the morning as it may take more than an hour if you hit the traffic. And definitely your camera!
If you like gardens, the Hunte's Garden is an absolute MUST. And I really love a catamaran cruise and visiting the Mount Gay rum factory. I suggest avoiding Bridgetown as there isn’t much to see or do.

About the host
Hosted by Jana

My name is Jana, from Czech Republic, but lived 35 years in NYC. I was a fashion photographer, now I am retired. I spend my winters in Barbados, on the top floor of this 2 unit house, that I built 10 years ago with love. The rest of the year I am based in Prague.
Why they chose this property
Teta house was built with the understanding of everyone traveling to Barbados. Each floor offers a large patio with comfortable outdoor seating. This is something you wont find too much around the island. As a photographer, I also made the night time lighting very cozy. There are solar spotlights on the palm trees so you can enjoy the sight also at night.
What makes this property unique
This location is unique, because it give you access to the most beautiful beaches without the crowds. The Atlantic breeze provides a non stop AC and repels mosquitos. Its a very safe and quiet neighborhood. Crane resort, Le Shack and Dis Ole House are in close enough distance to go out and eat or dance.
