Have rented many cabins over the years, as I hunt in the area. This cabin, and the communication with the owners, is by far the best experience I have had. I highly recommend a stay, and very much look forward to renting again.
This rental was definitely in the worst condition of any property I have ever stayed at through any vacation rental company. Multiple appliances malfunctioned during our stay—-the microwave stopped working completely, the stovetop heating element kept going in and out, and the washing machine kept needing to be restarted. The faux hardwood flooring in the kitchen was damaged and the strip between the kitchen flooring and living room carpeting kept lifting up off the ground, creating a tripping hazard. There was food and food spills in the refrigerator and freezer. One of the upstairs bedrooms had a curtain rod above the window but no curtain or window covering. Despite all three bedrooms being upstairs on the second level, there was only one bathroom on that level and it was en suite in the master bedroom, requiring guests sleeping in the two other second level bedrooms to have to walk through the master bedroom to use the bathroom on that second level. In that second level bathroom, there were holes in the wall where a rod for hanging a bath towel had clearly once been (no effort to plaster the holes and repaint over). The furnishings and decor were mismatched and “hodge lodge” looking. There was a “for sale” sign in front of the house listing the property and it seemed as if the owners of this rental didn’t necessarily care about what shape the rental was in (or about what kind of reviews they would get) since they were trying to sell the place anyway. I would definitely not stay here again under any circumstances or in any other rental owned by the same host.
Of the options available near Mt Rainier, I wanted this one the most because it looks exactly how a cabin should look from the front. The porch did not disappoint. It was super lovely to sit on and look out on the forest. The house is generally all nestled up in the forest, with views from the back windows too, despite being in a proper neighborhood. The kitchen was well stocked. The decor is casual and sort of mish-mash. It was clean for the most part - just little things like Spanish rice stuck to towels. The couch was broken when we arrived but I had already received an email from the owner explaining this - they said a handyman would be coming but he never did. My main complaint would be some failures to communicate via the house's webpage. In a small thing, there was no note saying we'd receive check in info the day before so I had to reach out to ask. In a big thing, they should include the steepness of the driveway in the main description - you need four wheel drive to get up & down it - my Honda Civic literally slid down sideways, unable to get traction - terrifying.
Nice house. Inside was good and clean. Loved the extras. The Outside and patio furniture needs to be updated. Location was great. The driveway is steep but we managed just fine. Needs a fan( or ceiling fan) in each room is my only complaint. Loved having the windows open at night but needed fan to help cool off the room from the day. We could only find two but used all three bedrooms.
This is a very comfortable and well equipped house, convenient to the Nisqually entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park. We were only three, but the place could easily sleep many more. I highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a very comfortable place at a good location, with great amenities, for day hikes into the park.
We had such a great time as a family at this cabin. Rooms were large, beds were plush with ample warm bedding. Kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Only complaint is not being informed about the incline that the property is on. I wish the listing mentioned just how STEEP the gravel driveway, the deck stairs and the stairs inside are. We had a grandma and a senior dog with mobility issues with us. We managed but it would've been nice to know before we booked. All else was fantastic!
The house is located in a quiet area with wooded areas behind and around it. Heard some owls at night which was cool. The house is not the cleanest, but it wasn’t terrible by any means ( could use a deep clean). The front yard is fenced and has a doggie door to the house, which worked out great for our dogs. There is a small fire pit, but make sure you bring your own wood. Overall, this house worked for our family for the 3 nights we were there, but I will search earlier next time to find something nicer.
The driveway was not maintained so we had to park on road and carry all our stuff and children back and forth. This made it take a lot longer than it should have taken. Owner did say he could have someone come and shovel the next day but had attitude. My 2 year old picked up a joint of marijuana on the bench right outside front door. Extremely frustrating and dangerous. They house was NOT properly cleaned! The bathtub still had hairs all over it. There was rat poop and crumbs in the kitchen covered. We wasted a day cleaning instead of relaxing. Bring your own pots and pans because the ones there are in horrible condition. I took pictures for proof of all the issues I had. The management offered to refund my $75 cleaning fee to “make it right.” After taxes and fees I paid $600 for 2 nights and wasted most of my time cleaning. If it wasn’t for the kids wanting to stay we would have left the minute we realized everything.
We had a great time at the cabin, was very clean and well stocked. Plenty of room for everyone. Renting was easy and communication was fabulous. Thank you, we will stay again
Great base to explore all that this area of Washington has to offer. Loved the fact that the yard was fenced in for the dogs. Highly recommend for any group. Great stay!
Landlord forgot we were coming so it hadn’t been cleaned. Had to wash and change bedding pick up dirty diapers and trash. Said there was river access. There wasn’t. Home was subpar. Never heard from landlord. Disappointing trip!
We really enjoyed staying at this property. Everything was clean, beds were very comfortable and fireplaces kept us warm and cozy. Special treat - watching deer family walk by.
A quiet place in the woods well equipped for chilling over a board game, a book, or a movie on the big screen, all provided by the owners. An excellent spot to return to after a day of exploring nearby Mt Rainier National Park or having a big dinner at Copper Creek Restaurant.
