Mtn Getaway with VIEWS, PRIVATE HOT TUB & POSH Decor!

ALL-Wheel or 4-Wheel drive Vehicle REQUIRED in winter months.

Wake up to beautiful mountain views and the sound of a stream outside your window or beautiful drifts of untouched snow. After a day of skiing or hiking, enjoy our fabulous Jacuzzi hot tub or fire up one of several fire options while watching the sunset. Activities are numerous in both summer and winter and include world class skiing/snow boarding, cross country skiing, mountain biking, rafting and hiking right outside the door or just minutes down the road.

Our cottage is equipped with everything you might need to prepare a quick snack or a gourmet meal. Nice glassware, dishes, linen, cooking tools and serving pieces allow you to enjoy this get-away as much as you would your own home. There is also a Weber charcoal grill and a gas grill on the expansive deck that wraps the back of the house. With 2 fireplaces and a pleasing decor, get ready to relax and smile a lot. It is truly a special place.

Beautiful area

Great little place! We stayed in March and went snowboarding, it was absolutely beautiful. Tons of snow! The driveway is a little steep so make sure you have a vehicle that can handle ice/snow!

Great location for remote activities.

Quiet neighborhood and beautiful view. Seemed to be so remote but actually very close and convenient to Breck and all that goes on there. We back country skied and snowshoed in the valley. This is the perfect location to get to Quandary Park and Hoosier Pass.

Great location

We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin had everything we needed. Hot tub was great after hikes. We saw moose at the property which was a special treat. We highly recommend the property as it is close to hikes and 15 min to town.

Picturesque views

Location was perfect for our summer getaway, easy access to hiking trails & town (when needed). Full of amenities for cooking/grilling. Loved sitting out on the deck in the evenings with the fire pit star gazing & listening to the mountain stream. Beautiful setting, exactly what we were looking for in our vacation rental! Grateful that we could bring our furbaby along for the adventure!

Wonderful cabin with a view

This was a wonderful cabin slightly off the beaten path, in a quiet neighborhood. The deck was fantastic along with the views. We were there in late June and the stream off the deck was more like a creek with all the runoff. It was great listening to it. We liked that it's very updated. The kitchen had everything you could want and more. The living room had beautiful views. And the owners were prompt in communicating which we always appreciate. The only negative was that the two couches were hard and uncomfortable. I realize that this is just one couple's opinion, but it seems like some softer cozier furniture would make a big difference. We would stay here again though.

Great Stay at La Barranca

Quiet, quaint… Our Family of 4 enjoyed the mountain experience (Quiet, Quaint, Beautiful trees, Great View, tons of snow, Wildlife, etc.) Owner was great - Definitely need a 4wd & the desire for a remote experience - Fit the bill for us.

Perfect Getaway

We absolutely loved our stay. The location was perfect, not too far from town and the lifts. Quite neighborhood and visits from the local Moose and fox were a real treat! Dawn is very responsive and accommodating! Highly recommend this location.

Beautiful setting

The house was all done up, inside and out, for Christmas. Really made it festive for us. This was the best equipped property we have ever stayed in. We were able to cook a full prime rib dinner with all the fixings. Beautiful place to walk at night, the sky was so clear and full of stars. Wish the part about needing 4 wheel drive in winter was more upfront on the listing.

Beautiful as described

Extremely comfy, cozy and private. The deck by the stream is a great feature. Saw a moose and foxes from the house. Easy to get to but far enough out to be secluded. Loved it!

Great Location, Easy Access, Perfect for the Price

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our 10 day stay! The house is small-ish but well laid out, and has everything you could want. Great value for the money! The deck with hot tub was awesome for soaking and/or admiring the views of lower Hoosier Pass. Internet was strong, location nicely spaced between Alma and Breck and less than a mile off the highway, excellent kitchen for cooking. Words of caution for future guests (but not complaints): the site is built down into a hill and is not flat, so not great for those with mobility problems. If you're traveling with dogs there were not great options for runs...be prepared for walks, but you'll enjoy them. This house has been smoked in, probably many, many years ago, something you may not even notice...if you're uber-sensitive to that, just be aware. Personally, we had zero complaints!

Secluded Perfection

Our stay at La Barranca was excellent!! It was the perfect size for our family of three, well equipped and in a fantastic location. Dawn was lovely to work with and it was so nice to be able to travel with our dogs! We ended up leaving one day early, and all of us were sad to go. We will absolutely be back!!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The deck was great with the hot tub and beautiful views. The only negative for us was the sofa and throw pillows did have pet hair which got on our clothes when we sat. Thanks so much for a very pleasant week.

Perfectly beautiful mountain retreat with great amenities!

Our family enjoyed this property very much. We were able to use it as a base to enjoy the surrounding activities. We rented bikes for riding trails, hiked, enjoyed some local restaurants, and got in some shopping at the outlets. We did have snow during our stay at the end of May which was strange for us southern Californians, but it was a beautiful sight across the trees and mountains. Our favorite part of this home was the hot tub! What a luxury especially during some chilly days! The Keurig and other appliances were great also. One thing to note if you’re new to high elevations like we were—the elevation here is above 10,000 ft, and we had altitude sickness for most of the time until we would descend into the cities🥴. Drink lots of water!!

Spring and Winter

Cute, cozy, clean home and property with beautiful views. We had the pleasure of arriving in warm sunny weather and getting around 2 feet of snow during our stay! Having never been to the area I loved seeing it both ways and we knew the snow was possible so we were prepared. We saw lots of wildlife and family of foxes played in the front yard throughout our stay especially after the snow. Loved the house, very cute and warm.

House was perfect for us. Had all amenities we needed, location was beautiful and quiet! Hot tub was a must have after skiing, loved being able to play music through the outdoor speakers while we were out there. Kitchen well stocked, beds comfortable, shower amazing! Would stay again!

A beautiful and enjoyable mountain retreat

We had a lovely time in Breckenridge. The house is well situated away from the crowds and it was nice to get away from the ski area and relax in the hot tub or cook dinner together.

Colorado Getaway

We had a wonderful stay. This was our second time staying at La Barranca. The house is cozy and has everything you could need. We've stayed at many rental properties over the years, and Dawn and Terry are pro's - responsive and accommodating. We would stay here again!!

About the host

Avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, we love to play in the mountains during all times of the year. We own Environs Residential, a design/build construction company and spend most of our time in Atanta, GA. Terry, a native of Ohio, was a resident of Breckenridge for 18 years prior to moving east. Dawn, a native of Tennessee, has lived in Atlanta since 1988. We love to travel to exciting new places and always look for spots where we can enjoy the outdoors or city culture. In addition to playing outside, we love to cook, appreciate nice wine and entertain our friends and neighbors. Sharing our little slice of heaven in the mountains is especially enjoyable. We love the comments and photos our guests send us after their stay.

Why they chose this property

It took us 5 minutes in the house to decide to purchase it. A long-time friend of Terry's with whom we were having a beer a the local pizza joint, Fatty's, told us about it and drove us out to the place. Loving the location and of course the stream, we immediatley called another friend and realtor, Stephanie Epps, who got us in to see it the next day. We ended up buying the house along with both lots on either side! We love Valley of the Blue and our quiet street high above Hwy 9. The neighbors are great and the stars at night are magical.

What makes this property unique

Our mountain cottage is only 6 miles down Hwy 9 from Breckenridge. Far enough to have privacy and close enough for a trip to town for dinner. We love the serenity of the mountains, the stars at night from the hot tub and the views of Quandry Mountain from the deck and living room. It's small enough so that a couple can enjoy it to themselves without breaking the bank :-)
