Beautiful house and property

The house and property are beautiful. However the listing online states a “ new and renovated” . The pictures online make it seem very more lavish and comfortable then what it is . The furniture a lot older and used then what is in the house . The main kitchen needs a good cleaning and fixtures needs fixed. The yurt outside was nice but could be cleaned better and the air system needs fixed properly it was duct taped together. All together for the price we payed I was slightly disappointed.

Family Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas celebration at this magical setting! We were a group of 11 adults. The young people enjoyed staying in the dome. The kitchen was large enough for many of us to cook together and there were plenty of dishes, pans and utensils.

Island house review

The good: The property was spacious and private. The landscaping around the house was very nice. There was plenty of space for our group of 8. The house was well stocked for cooking with plenty of supplies, cookware, tableware, etc.. The house was only 10 minutes to the state parks on the island which were nice to explore. The bad: The hot water heater in the dome was broken which rendered the dome shower unusable, we were informed of this the day of our arrival. The hot tub temperature control panel was broken and was stuck on 93 degrees. There was an abandoned boat and RV tucked away on the property which was a little unpleasant to see every time we drove in. Overall, the property was a nice and spacious place to stay for a larger group. I would recommend this larger groups looking for a quiet and private setting to relax.

Delightful stay at the Island House

We had a wonderful stay at the Island House. Our family enjoyed the opportunity to be together, but still have our own separate spaces. From enjoying the hot tub, to cooking meals as a family and sitting around the fire pit, the Island House really gave us the chance to be together. I highly recommend this space to others!

Amazing Staycation

There are not enough words to describe our wonderful experience at the property. Beautifully secluded you can easily get lost in nature, with time and worries melting away. There is a special magic here that you feel once you pull up. No stone has been left unturned, you will find everything you need and then some. We can't thank the owners enough for our stay and all the lil details they have put into the entire property/home. We look forward to another stay and HIGHLY recommend The Island House on Camano for any adventure. Thank you

A Haven

Small detail -- we were there Thursday to Thursday. The house and yard are very spacious with lots of interesting features. Supplies were plentiful. The dome cabin was a little more primitive than expected, but comfortable once we adapted. It is a beautiful setting and the kids loved seeing the deer, squirrels and rabbits that came by.

One-of-a-Kind Getaway

This one-of-a-kind, spacious cabin in the woods experience was amazing. Grounds have beautiful landscaping, flowers & trees. House was exactly as pictured and described. Has everything you need to entertain a group with plenty of comfortable beds. Enjoyed watching an eagle dive in the water out back, catch a fish & take it up in the trees to eat. Took a relaxing drive to Camano State Park and enjoyed looking @ nearby waterfront homes. House is at end of gravel road--quiet & serene.

Great Home For A Group!

The Island House was perfect for our family reunion. Our group of 11 had plenty of room to spread out indoors and outdoors during our stay. The large kitchen was ideal for food prep and cooking. Most of our evenings were spent outdoors around the campfire and under the big tent. There are plenty of extra amenities inside and out. Lots of great artwork and the home is beautiful - thank you for sharing it with us.

Amazing family house in a perfect location

We booked three nights at The Island House for a family get together. We were already excited from having seen the pictures on the website - the reality was even better. Everything has a very personal feel to it, and the house manages to be spacious and cosy at the same time. Martha communicated well with us before the trip, and we didn't have any problems at all finding things. The kitchen and communal areas are very well equipped, and we were able to cook big family meals without worrying about kitchen space. The outdoor area is also lovely - both the flower beds by the porch, and the large seating area around the back of the house. I'd recommend this house for anyone planning a family gathering.

Perfect for large family reunion

The Island House at Camano Island was exactly what we needed to enjoy being together with my mom, my three sisters and our families. We are a multi-age group and the house has many amenities and spaces for entertainment for all. Indoor/outdoor games, hot tub, fire pit, large TV screen for movie nights (we used our Apple TV account to rent and stream). The kitchen is professional and we loved cooking all our meals there. The house is designed to have large groups comfortably seated in the back yard, at the dinner table, the living room and the front porch. The landscaping and natural wood surroundings are beautiful and we observed a lot of birds and other animals. We were also able to enjoy and get to know a bit of Camano Island with short 15 min. drives to nearby parks with beach access and opportunities to rent kayaks or row boats and go crabbing. Martha, our host was great, and very easy to communicate with. It was a joy to be there and we would all gladly return for another stay in the future.

Lovely private home

The nhouse is lovely and very comfortable with an excellent kitchen and hot tub. Our only drawback was that we hit a very bad cold snap and couldn't get comfortably warm - warm but definitely sweaters. Otherwise excellent.

Island House is wonderful for a group of friends

Seven of us rented the house -- high school friends who have been getting together annually for 25 years. The house is beautiful, in a great location on Camano Island. The artistic touches and craftsmanship made it extra special. The house came with everything the group needed for cooking and the dining room was perfect. We also appreciated the three full bathrooms and the nice large living room. Martha was the perfect host -- easy to work with during the reservation process and very helpful in answering our questions about the house. We highly recommend Island House for groups or a family.

Family Gathering

The Island House was a lovely setting for our family gathering and a 95th Birthday celebration. The tent was perfect for decorating and seating 20 people during the festivities. The gardens provided beautiful backdrops for the formal family photos. Games and races in the spacious yard kept the great grandchildren busy while adults ran food from kitchen to serving table outside. Communications with owner were very helpful prior to and during our stay. The kitchen and sleeping quarters were fully equipped and comfortable for the 10 guests who spent the night. The house is an impressive work of art with carvings, stained glass and unique decor. The post and beam construction causes noisy floorboards for those sleeping below late-nighters. We recommend the lightest sleepers take the upstairs bedrooms! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Island House.

A Wonderful getaway spot

This is our second family vacation at the Island House. This is a perfect house for a family gathering. The kitchen is big, beautiful, and well stocked. The living area provides many cozy places to talk with old friends. The outside area is spectacular for eating, playing games, and sitting around a camp fire. It is a scenic walk from the seclusion of the house to the beach. Martha is a wonderful host.

Very comfortable, everything we needed (including, of all things, a sewing basket!)

This house is full of treasures. Everywhere we looked, inside and out, was designed for beauty, comfort and utility. The owners were accessible to answer questions (for example, one of the light switches for the main floor bathroom is outside the bathroom door). The kitchen had everything we needed. Amazing 6-burner stove! The oven heats lower than the knob-setting, but there is an oven thermometer so you can double-check the heat. The grounds are lovely. The 'dome house' is a treasure. We nick-named it the Hobbit House, because of the shape of the room and the door.

Why they chose this property

We chose to build a home in this area because of its serene beauty. The property is completely private, and offers an experience of safety, but not isolation. Built at the end of the road, there is no drive by traffic, children and dogs are can play freely and guests can settle in for meaningful time together. For many, the property itself is a destination. It is rare to find a place where there is enough space for family and friends to gather and offer private space, as well. We utilize the property for our family gatherings, vacation rentals, small intimate events and retreats. We have a vision to expand the property to include a small retreat center... a way of extending the gathering opportunities.

What makes this property unique

The Timber Frame House is surrounded by 360•° NW beauty. Because the house is at the end of a private road and only surrounded by forest and ponds, there is a sense of safety and security- contained by mother nature. You will experience a symphony of frogs at night in the summer, and native wildlife that shares the space with you year round.

A uniquely safe place for children to explore nature while parents can relax. There are no cross roads or poison ivy; there are some stinging nettles but summers are always beautiful, and the property has many different spots to hang out and meet individual needs for personal and together time.

Weddings, workshops, tent camping, yurt, rv... can be explored on an individual basis.
