A short stay at Astor House Apartment 6
I stayed 6 nights with my dad (80 yrs old) and enjoyed every minute of my stay. The apartment was on one level with ample space, bright and modern and the bathroom was nicer than in the picture. The sea view was first class and the balcony added value. Road parking although unrestricted could be a bit tight at times. Because the apartment is on a cliff, walking up the hill was a struggle at times for my dad so if you are taking older people bear this in mind.

views brilliant, apartment bit dusty - be warned of hidden/extra charges!
We were going to use the spare duvet in the wardrobe to snuggle on the sofa until we saw that it was covered in all manner of stains. Yuk! This and a bit of dust around the apartment wasn't great but the wonderful views helped to forgive these. The thing we were most unhappy about was the transparency of fees, or lack of. Found property via homeaway but actually they were representing plum holidays. Both companies charged us additional fees (plum a 'processing fee' & homeaway a 'service fee'). Both companies sent invoices upon booking but neither gave absolute totals so as customer it was very confusing and then amounted to us being charged Almost 10% extra than what we thought we were paying. Had we known we would not have booked because the apartment was not worth it. Better to book direct with plum holidays. Further, when attempting to get to the bottom of all the additional charges, one company kept sending us to the other, neither taking responsibility so we are the ones out of pocket as nothing got resolved and so would never book with homeaway ever ever again.

Perfect stay at Astor House
fantastic view - fully equiped (TV,DVD-player,PS4,washing machine,DAB radio, good books and DVDs and much more) - clean - comfortable - easy access to beach promenade and city center via rock walk (only stairs have to be tackled) - unrestricted parking on the street (few free places in the morning, free places in the afternoon)

Beautiful Apartment with a Spectacular View
Apartment 6 is beautiful. It is fully equipped with everything you could need and was spotlessly clean. The only issue we had was actually getting into the apartment when we first arrived. We were supposed to have received a code for the front door and a code to access the keybox, but we didn't and I didn't read the reservation details carefully enough to realise this. We ended up waiting in the foyer for an hour, waiting for Plumlocations customer service to call us back. In the end a kind neighbor took pity on us and called the property manager on her personal phone to get the code for us. Lesson learned for us and advise for any future renters - make sure you have the codes BEFORE you arrive! It is a fairly steep walk to get into town, so probably not ideal for anyone with disabilities, but taxis are cheap and plentiful in Torquay. Also close street parking isn't great, or guaranteed if you have a car, but there is a public car park about a 5 minute walk away. Overall a wonderful apartment that I would totally recommend for the view alone!!

A good spot
Excellent location and view. Nice flat well furnished. Better guidance on finding (unnumbered) house on long road on which it is difficult to stop would be useful

updating needed
A pleasant apartment with a very good view. It was clean and well laid out. Appliances functioned well. However, some things need improvement.? All the window blinds are broken and can only be raised or lowered. More cutlery and plates are needed as well as oven mitts and other minor items. A fitted sheet on the main bedroom mattress is required as well as an additional sheet for when the duvet would be too hot. Women will find no well lit dressing table. The clothes closet door needs adjustment. No clothes storage in second bedroom. Decent hangers would be nice. The parking is quite inadequate, the assigned bays are not marked. The key provided did not fit any lock. Furture renters should be warned that parking is only suitable for very small cars. Parking should be assigned but free. Most holiday rental places provide at least some milk, bread, etc for new arrivals..

Lovely visit spoilt
Breathtaking views and accommodation lovely on arrival, cold tap on sink didn't work - reported this day after we arrived as didn't want to disturb on a bank holiday, not fixed during our stay although this wasn't a huge problem. Main issue was arrival of scaffolders first thing in the morning who then spent the day noisily erecting it around our balcony. As our son is mid GCSE's and they idea was to revise quietly somewhere different this was a nightmare, and we had to go out for the day - this would not have been such a problem if we had been warned in advance this was going to happen - a really disappointing end to our stay as view from balcony also completely spoilt for final evening/morning of our visit.

A wonderful stay
We stayed for 3 nights in May. The apartment was a wonderful surprise when we arrived and far superior to our expectations. The whole apartment was well fitted out and immaculately clean. The arrangements with keys worked well. I was a bit worried by the lack of parking but this was unfounded as there was always plenty of space on the road. The view over the bay was amazing. We loved every minute and I would thoroughly recommend staying here. We will certainly be back.

A superb apartment with lovely views
A fantastic apartment with lovely views. It is well situated for eateries, from the cheap and cheerful to the more upmarket. The number 12 bus stops close by for easy access to Paignton and Brixham. The apartment is well appointed, TV, DVD player, kitchen, nice bathroom etc.

Best view from holiday accommodation ever.
We have stayed at 6 Astor House twice and will be back again in the future. The apartment, towels and bedding were spotless. All household equipment you need is provided. And of course the amazing view, words are not enough to describe it! Our family group never tired of watching the tide, the man on the beach sand sculpting and general people watching. Can't wait to go back again.
