We just fell in love with this cottage. It was perfect for our stay and the location was amazing. Ashley was extremely easy to work and communicate with. It was a great place to come home to after a day on the Bourbon trail. Everyone in our party would highly recommend staying at this cottage when you visit Bardstown.
Perfect location. I entered the wrong email on the app and had to contact the owner who was very accommodating with providing me check in information via email instead of the app. We also misplaced an item and she was very kind and understanding. Amazing experience.
The Cottage in the Rye was a comfortable cottage. One of the bedrooms was on the first floor with two others on the second floor. The new bathroom was nice but it was in the basement so be aware if you plan to use both showers, stairs will be involved. We didn’t have any problems with the stairs so both showers worked out fine. The location was easily walkable to downtown Bardstown. We would definitely recommend the Cottage in the Rye and will book it on our next trip to Bardstown.
The cottage was very clean cozy honestly you do need ventilation upstairs and we went out to the patio and sprayed ourselves with mosquito spray but were still ate up so need to do some cleaning up and add tiki torches to keep mosquitoes away but it was awesome for us just to visit with one another thank you
This was our homebase for the Bardstown portion of our Bournon Trail trip. Downtown Bardstown is a great place to unwind after hitting the distilleries, and it's all walking distance from this nice place
We stayed 2 days in this gem to explore Bardstown & learn about the history of the area. Home is clean, has many updates, and, most importantly, is within easy walking distance of historic downtown Bardstown. We will definitely be back for a longer stay! Thanks so much for sharing your charming home!
The cottage was quaint, quiet and quintessentially charming for a small group of friends to gather while seeking out the hidden and not-so-hidden gems of Bardstown and surrounding areas. Came for the bourbon but found so much more.
The cottage is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We slept well. It also offers wonderful common spaces to hang out with friends. The only inconvenience was finding outlets for the ladies to dry hair...but then we discovered the newly added bathroom in the basement. Wonderful!
The other great thing about this place is the walkability to shops and restaurants! Very close to many distilleries as well! Games, books, and a puzzle for the evenings too.
I would definitely recommend this cottage if looking for a place to stay in Bardstown. Great location, walking distance to food and square. Great location to drive to distilleries around Bardstown. We had 4 adults, my husband and I and my mom and dad. Plenty of home for 4 adults, 2 couples. Two good full bathrooms, one on main floor and one in basement. We were able to have each shower run at same time as we all tried to get ready in morning with no problems, we had space to get ready without being in each others way. Good living room and kitchen to hangout with each other. Ashley, the host, was great. We had a question or two and she was quick to respond.
Loved the location. Walked to breakfast, dinner and out for drinks. Toured 4 distilleries and home to watch the OSU football game. The kitchen was well equipped. Nice neighborhood to walk in the morning. The basement someday will make a great game room and bar! We will be back for another visit.
We are 2 couples in our 40’s and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cottage in the Rye. We used it as our base camp for exploring the Bourbon trail. It was conveniently drivable for various distilleries, walkable to many restaurants and bars, and had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for us, albeit a relatively tight upstairs half-bath. We also enjoyed the dining room for playing cards and drinking after a long day on the trail. The house was well stocked with things like salt, sugar, coffee and accoutrements, etc. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Cottage in the Rye.
If your looking for a great hub for the bourbon trail this is it! You will need a car to get around. During our stay we went to Louisville, Lexington and the distillers around Bardstown all within less than an hour away!
The house has an old farm/cottage feel. It had plenty of small things that make renting a house nice such as plenty of paper towels, TP, spices & herbs, tinfoil and such along with plenty of towels & blankets.
The check in was easy and simple with no hassle and Ashley was super accommodating and super responsive.
The cottage was adorable. It was well stocked and clean. The decor was cute. The beds were comfortable. The location was great. Ashley was quick to respond to all communication. Great Rental!
Had a great time at this cottage. Older home but very cute on the inside. Lots of room. Nice new bathroom in basement. Great location. Can walk into town easily.
Be aware that one bedroom upstairs does not have air conditioning. It does have a ceiling fan which helped in extreme heat.
Outside of the home could really use some sprucing up, e.g., pressure wash, paint, weeding. There is a nice size back yard which would be wonderful to use except it was very overgrown and not inviting.
My husband, I and a friend drove from Chicago to Bardstown to check out the distilleries in the area. We loved our stay at the Cottage in the Rye! The cottage was clean, comfortable and in a great area. Would highly recommend!!!

My family has lived in Bardstown for over 25 years and I finally decided to buy a home of my own in 2018. My work requires me to travel, so when I'm not in town, I rent the home out to visitors :)
