Comfortable Stsy in Lovely Lucca
Wonderfully located and comfortable apartment! We all felt at home. Quiet, clean and ready to settle in.
The only cons - only a small bit of toilet paper on the roll with no other rolls to be found. A problem only because of our late arrival and no stores were open and we were 4 adults.
Speaking of late arrival, our plane was unable to land in Florence so we were routed back to Rome and bussed to Florence. Needless to say, we were very late getting to Lucca (like 1 am). The local agent who was to deliver our keys was not actually local, and had no way to leave us our key. Had our son not been able to get to the apartment sooner than us but still late (he was coming from Ireland and had the same Florence airport issue) and get the key I’m not sure what we would have done. As it was, she wanted 25 Euros in cash for checking in late, which he didn’t have, but she made sure we understood she would be back the next day to collect it.
To sum it up, the apartment was perfect, the checking in process was not. With the unknowns of traveling which is the new normal, an easier way to get the keys in case of delay would be appreciated. I imagine key lock boxes on the outside of the building are not allowed in Lucca, since I didn’t see any. Not sure what the answer is. Either the local agent is inconvenienced or the traveler is.
