A former rectory in 1600 which unites within its walls the silence and the secrets of everyday life peasant. To comply with its spirit any radical intervention upset the building: so the past can live in harmony with the modern needs. In attics, where once gathered supplies for the winter, there are now bedrooms framed by small windows: small pictures that they find between patches of olive and cypress walls of Perugia. In the distance Mount Subasio Assisi with its rich history and spirituality. Annexed there is a chapel (1659) dedicated to the Annunciation: its belfry vigil discreetly on the house and the garden of fragrant lavender and herbs.

A charming experience in Umbria

My husband and I had a delightful Thanksgiving getaway in this unique, charming house. Piergiorgio was an amazing host - very helpful and responsive. The house, views, garden, goats and family of fowl made our stay relaxing and fun.

Une propriété magnifique

Nous avons passé un séjour inoubliable dans cette magnifique maison de famille au cœur de l‘Ombrie. La propriété est très belle, plus encore que sur les photos et regorge de petits coins romantiques et poétiques. La piscine est grande et très agréables et la maison décorée avec goût. Piergiorgio, sa maman et Dante sont extrêmement gentils, à la fois attentionnés et discrets! Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir!

A Beautiful House in the hills of Perugia

La Olivella will seduce all who love the beauties of Italy. A fine old stone house set in hills with wonderful Appenine views, including Assisi set on the flanks of Monte Subasio, illuminated by the setting sun, and lighted through the night. It is difficult to describe this ancient house. I will just write of four of my personal joys. Passing to swim early each day through a grove of Olive and Fig. The vast and beautiful main bedroom. The elegant dining room. Long evenings dining outside. On behalf of one of my four guests I must also mention the household goats and hens which she delighted to feed. And finally Sig. Dante, the owner's right hand man, always willing to come and help and charm us.

Reise in die Vergangenheit

Das Haus ist lebendige Geschichte. Wir haben hier einen hier schönen Urlaub verbracht. Es ist über 300 Jahre alt, wurde aber renoviert und modernisiert. Das WLAN (wichtig mit Teenagern) ist stabil und unbegrenzt nutzbar. Groß gewachsene Gäste müssen im Obergeschoss etwas auf ihren Kopf achten: bauartbedingt niedrige Deckenbalken ;-). Leider war eine der vier Duschen defekt und konnte nicht genutzt werden. Aber da es ja noch drei andere Bäder gibt, war dies kein wirkliches Problem. Das Haus hat einen schönen, parkähnlichen Garten, viele gemütlichen Sitzgelegenheiten, teils mit tollem Panoramablick. Witterungsbedingt konnte wir jeden Morgen im Hof vor dem Haus frühstücken. Sehr entspannend. Das Gelände ist vollständig eingezäunt, so dass sich unser mitgebrachter Familienhund hier frei und ohne Ausbruchsmöglichkeit bewegen konnte. Der Pool war sauber. Er wurde regelmäßig gereinigt und der Wasserzustand überprüft. Es hat im Haus an nichts gefehlt. Der Gastgeber Pieregiorgio, seine Mama und sein Gärtner Dante, der sich jeden Tag um die Hühner und Ziegen kümmert, sind extrem nett und hilfsbereit. Immer wieder wurden wir gefragt, ob alles okay ist oder ob es irgendwelche Probleme gibt. Das Wohlergehen der Gäste liegt ihnen spürbar am Herzen. Vielen Dank!

Wonderful family retreat

What a treat this was for a family of 7 who are scattered all around the country. The house met all of our needs and the area our dreams. The three goats helped us forget our dogs and the chickens and their eggs helped us feel like farmers. It was a fabulousl experience and Piergiorgio our host was wonderful. We hope to return in the future.

Sehr schönes Haus in toller Umgebung

Wir, zwei Erwachsene und drei Kinder im Alter von 8 und 10, haben 16 Nächte in diesem schönen Haus verbracht und uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Das Haus bietet sehr viel Platz und ist hervorragend ausgestattet, uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Es hat einen großen Garten mit Schatten spendenden Olivenbäumen, unter denen man wunderbar relaxen kann. Zur Freude unserer drei Kinder gab es sogar Ziegen und Hühner, sodass wir auch immer mit frischen Eiern versorgt waren. Die Lage des Hauses ist sehr gut: Man erreicht schnell Perugia und Assisi und ist trotzdem auf dem Land. Der Vermieter ist ein ausgesprochen liebenswürdiger und hilfsbereiter Mensch, der immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite steht und uns mit vielen Tipps zu Restaurants und Stränden versorgt hat. Wir sind sehr zufrieden mit unserem Urlaub und empfehlen das Haus und seinen Vermieter uneingeschränkt weiter!

A little piece of paradise

I stayed at this beautiful and welcoming house for 6 nights with my family. When we arrived we could not believe our eyes, we felt so lucky. The house is large spacious and tastefully furnished, with everything you could possibly need and so many thoughtful finishing touches. We loved staying there and our children thought we were in a castle. The garden is very large and well maintained, the pool is lovely and refreshing. The owner Piergiorgio is incredibly kind spirited and generous, a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely go back when we visit perugia again.

Casale bellissimo, spazi molto grandi ed accoglienti. Giardino molto bello, con piscina tra gli ulivi. Vicinissimo a Perugia ed Assisi. Perfetto per vacanze in famiglia o con amici. Una bella vacanza

Sono abituata a viaggiare e da quando sono diventata mamma preferisco evitare di andare in albergo. Non è la prima volta che uso questo sito per affittare una casa dove trascorrere una vacanza con la mia famiglia, ma è la prima volta che vengo accolta con quel calore e gentilezza che ti lasciano senza parole, i proprietari sono delle squisite persone. Il casale è splendido e offre un'atmosfera da sogno, il giardino immenso e ben curato, la piscina è immersa nel verde degli ulivi e piante di lavanda. Quando vidi l'annuncio me ne innamorai subito, ma dopo averlo visto di persona posso dire che le foto non rendono giustizia allo splendore del posto. Ultimo, ma non meno importante, scambiare quattro chiacchiere al mattino mentre prendevo il caffè con il custode che sia chiama Dante è tutta una poesia. Un posto perfetto per rilassarsi e visitare la bella Umbria. È sicuramente un posto che raccomando e dove spero di tornare.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. La maison est immense, pleine de charme, très bien décorée, la piscine est plus grande que ce que nous imaginions. Nous sommes venus en famille (5 enfants), c’était parfaitement adapté. Visites la journée à Perouse, Assise et Rome (proche). Et le soir bain dans la piscine et maison fraîche. Chèvres et poules ont fait le bonheur des enfants. Très belle qualité d’accueil. Nous avons eu un problème de voiture et le propriétaire nous a vraiment beaucoup aidés à trouver un garage sérieux, ce qui a permis de vivre un beau séjour. Merci beaucoup !!!

A Piece of Old Italy

L'Olivella is a charming old world farm house which has been updated but not modernised, leaving the beauty of the old ways but without the hardships. There were four of us staying and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You have to work at it in some ways but it is worth the experience Thank you Piergiorgio for sharing your property

Ländliche Romantik in umbrien

Unvergesslicher einmaliger urlaub, den die ganze familie genossen hat. Das haus aus dem jahr 1663 ist liebevollst gepflegt und erhalten. Am Hang sehr nah an perugia in den hügeln gelegen geht ein traumhafter blick in die ebene um und auf assisi und die hügel und Landschaft darum herum. Ausstattung und Anwesen bieten, was das herz begehrt. 3 der vier Schlafzimmer liegen so weit voneinander wntfernt und sind jedes mit badezimmer ausgestattet (eines mit badewanne, alle anderen mit Dusche), dass man auch mit 2-3 Ehepaaren anreisen könnte; 1 weiteres mit einem bett grenzt an eines drei elterlichen Schlafzimmer an. Die kleine landKüche ermöglicht mit ihrer Ausstattung (gasherd, kühlschrank) unproblematisches kochen und Selbstversorgung. könnte auch kinderzimmer dienen. Der Eigentümer piergeorgio ist unglaublich zuvorkommend, warmherzig und hilfsbereit. Was mehr kann man sich wünschen, wenn man auf italien pur aus ist?

Lovely family home

Olivella is a beautiful old family home with room and space for at least seven people. The pool was chilly at this time of year but we still managed to use it several times. Lots of places to sit in the garden and enjoy the view of Perugia and the countryside. There are no restaurants or shops nearby but there is public transport on the hour into Perugia if you haven’t a car. We were more than happy just to enjoy the peace and quiet of Olivella. The owner, Piergorgio, was extremely helpful and we very much appreciated him picking us up at the train station

Dream house!

Our joint families of six people had the pleasure of staying in this paradise for a week. We can honestly say that we couldn’t believe our luck when we arrived at the house! A beautiful old house full of charm with plenty of room for 3 couples and two extra single rooms. A lovely garden area with breathtaking views of Umbria’s green countryside and even fresh figs growing in the garden. A fantastic location for exploring all of Umbria’s gems, no more than an hour’s drive to Orvieto and Spoleto, with Perugia and Assisi even closer. Pier-Giorgio who owns the house could not have been more helpful and welcoming, he answered all our questions and was a charming host. This house is a gem and we loved it! Already planning a return to la Bella orviella next summer

Beautiful old charming house

We had a lovely 11 days staying at the Olivella. We were a party of 6 and our ages ranged from 9 to 65. The house offered something for us all but would probably not be suitable for families with very young children due to the wide brick staircases. Please do not expect all the modern conveniences, however, everything you need is available (including a record player and plenty of vinyl - my 9 year old enjoyed picking a record for us to listen to during breakfast) PierGiorgio is a friendly and helpful host. Mr Dante also pops in every other day to look after the garden. The gardens and location is beautiful and Piergiorgio generously offered for us to help ourselves to any fruit or vegetables that was ready to harvest from the gardens (tomatoes, peppers, figs, plums). The Olivella is just outside Perugia (car hire a must) and is handy for a local supermarket and petrol station as well as a 15 min drive to the station (we took the train for a day trip to Rome), 60 mins to Assissi, 90 mins to Siena. We really appreciated the opportunity to borrow PierGiorgios lovely family home for our holiday.

Rustic charm in a fantastic location

We stayed with our 4 children at The Olivella for just over a fortnight and found both the property and region to exceed expectations. Having visited Italy on numerous occasions previously, the fact that we could get to the airport at Perugia in around 20 minutes yet feel we were hours away really added to the location of this property. More than that, Perugia is around 10mins away with plenty of good restaurants and sights along with many charming towns and villages. We visited Florence, Assisi and Rome during our stay - all within a drive away. Piergiorgio was the perfect host and we look forward to visiting again.

A very special house and garden

We had a five-night stay in the old house and it became an important part of our vacation in Umbria. The several hundred years were always present in the different rooms, many with stone floor and portraits on the walls. It was like living in a museum. Also, someone with a very artistic talent (perhaps Piergiorgios mother?) had collected things in nice arrangements everywhere you looked. This is not a place for modern luxury but for someone who wants to experience old times. We stayed in the house in the beginning of April and the house was a bit chilly in some rooms despite heaters, the house is probably perfect in May and summer. We felt very welcomed by Piergiorgio and his mother. The garden and views were wonderful as well. We will talk about this special house for years!

Wunderbarer Ort zur Entspannung

Der Gastgeber Piergiorgio und seine Mutter haben uns herzlich empfangen und waren überaus hilfsbereit und entgegenkommend. Das Haus ist einfach wunderbar! Das historische Gebäude wurde mit viel Geschmack und Bewußstein renoviert und ist fantastisch eingerichtet. Es ist äußerst komfortabel, vor allem die Küche ist hervorragend ausgestattet. Auch der Garten und der Pool bieten viele verschiedene Orte zum ausruhen aber auch zu anderen Beschäftigungen. Vor allem der Blick auf die umbrische Landschaft mit Perugia und Assisi ist einfach nur atemberaubend! Sehr positiv ist zu erwähnen, dass obwohl man nur 10 Minuten nach Perugia und 5 Minuten zum nächsten Supermarkt braucht, man den Eindruck hat völlig privat auf dem Land zu wohnen. Absolut empfehlenswert! Wir werden sicher wiederkommen!

Une très belle maison vivante et qui raconte une histoire. Jardin immense et splendide.

Nous avons passé deux fabuleuses semaines dans la magnifique maison de Piergiorgio. Les mots ne pourront pas rendre hommage à sa gentillesse et générosité, ainsi qu'à la beauté des lieux. La maison est très spacieuse et vivante, avec son ameublement et sa décoration très choisie. Elle est pleine de recoins, de chambres, de salons, de couloirs, et chaque espace raconte une nouvelle histoire. Nous étions comme "à la maison". Le jardin est le paradis terrestre: immense, majestueux, avec ses oliviers, figuiers, pruniers, citronniers, orangers, avec son beau potager aux senteurs de lavande, sauge, romarin, laurier, origan, immortelle. La piscine est parfaite, à l'eau claire et propre, avec une belle vue de tout part. Tout a été parfait pendant notre séjour, nous serions encore restés une bonne semaine, afin de profiter de la maison et de cette splendide et riche région qui est l'Ombrie. Nous avons aussi eu la chance de connaitre Monsieur Dante, une très belle personne, discrète, qui s'occupe de la maison lorsqu'il est nécessaire. Voici quatre jours que nous sommes de retour chez nous, mais notre coeur est resté en Ombrie, où il fait bon vivre et où les gens sont adorables.

Seghr stilvolles gepflegtes altes Steinhaus vor den Toren Perugias mit sehr schönem Garten

Sehr nette Einweisung durch den Vermieter, seine Mutter und die Nachbarin, die auch bei Problemen zur Verfügung steht. Der Gärtner (Dante) kümmert sich um den Pool, ist gleichfalls sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Haus liegt auf einem Hügel mit sehr schöner Aussicht nach Assisi. Super wäre es, wenn irgendwann eine Waschmaschine angeschafft würde, denn wenn man mit fünf oder sechs Personen zwei Wochen Urlaub macht, fällt einfach Wäsche an, v.a. wenn es einmal nicht ganz so schönes Wetter ist und man in der Umgebung wandert. Ansonsten ist das Haus liebevoll eingerichtet, zum Teil mit sehr stilvollen Möbeln und Geschirr, sodass man sich in das 19 Jh. zurück versetzt fühlt... ein Erlebnis gerade für kulturbegeisterte Italienreisende, zumal Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Gubbio usw. jeweils sehr gut mit dem Auto erreichbar sind.

Un vrai bonheur au coeur de l'Ombria

Nous avons eu la chance et le bonheur de séjourner une semaine dans cette formidable demeure familiale, au milieu des collines et des oliviers. Piergiorgio et sa maman nous ont accueillis chaleusement et avec bienveillance, pour nous expliquer le fonctionnement de cette très grande maison du 17ème siècle. Nous avons même pu visiter la petite église intégrée à la propriété. Cet ancien presbytère est à lui seul un vrai monument d'histoire, authentique et rempli de livres, tableaux et antiquités, avec tout le confort moderne, WIFI inclus (ne manque qu'une machine à laver). Les chambres sont spacieuses et confortables, avec pour chacune sa propre salle de bains. Les différents salons vous permettent de pouvoir lire, jouer aux échecs ou vous reposer dans ce cadre buccolique en dehors du temps. Le cadre est simplement magnifique : à moins de 10 min en voiture de Pérugia dont on peut admirer la beauté le soir venu depuis la terrasse, ainsi que toute la vallée avec, au loin, la ville d'Assise, le tout au milieu des oliviers, des figuiers et de la lavande. Un vrai bonheur ! Le jardin est immense et la piscine, un vrai délice matin, midi et soir. Nos enfants et nous avons adoré ! C'est l'endroit idéal pour se reposer, se détendre et reste parfait comme point de départ pour visiter les plus beaux endroits de l'Ombria. Nous venons depuis plus de 10 ans en Italie et ce séjour a été une expérience extraordinaire. Piergorgio a toujours été très attentionné, disponible et de bons conseils (visites, vins locaux,...) Nous recommandons vivement cette maison unique.
