About this property

The Riverwood Cottage on Bucks County state park.

A cozy guest cottage nestled in the heart of Bucks County's countryside.

Close to many picturesque river towns, including New Hope, Frenchtown and Lambertville. Its perfectly located for a brief getaway, business trip or leisurely vacation.

Come enjoy nature in our quiet and tranquil setting where you can fall asleep to the chirping of crickets and awaken to the melodic sound of songbirds.

Our 700 square foot guest cottage can comfortably accommodate 2 adults. There is plenty of space to rest, read, eat, or work. You also have access to the side yard if you'd like to feel the grass under your feet or lay on a blanket and look at the stars. To protect your privacy, we won't wander around on that side of the property during your stay.

Please note: You may hear us and our dogs in the main residence at times, however, we always strive to be as quiet as possible when guests are here.

The cottage is perfectly situated between the Delaware river and the Delaware canal. You'll get country views from every window with no visual distraction of other homes, aside from the main residence (which you can barely see when inside the cottage).

A Retreat for Nature and Contemplation

The Riverwood Cottage perfectly combined proximity to nature and outdoor activities - walking/hiking, biking, bird-watching, boating, swimming - with a serene and cozy home where one could spend many hours reading, writing, napping, and contemplating with pleasure and ease. (There is also a TV and online entertainment.) I was looking for such an escape and loved being there. The cottage itself is beautiful and thoughtfully put together, combining rustic antiques with modern comforts. It had everything you could want - even things you might not know you wanted - like Milano cookies and scented candles in every room! - and nothing extraneous or without purpose, which helped create a serene environment. I took advantage of the extra bath and beach towels, the shower with great water pressure, the kitchen table and window looking out to the big tree in the side yard, and the washer and dryer upstairs, among other things... and Kristine's artwork hanging throughout made it feel both personal and homey. Kristine is a very responsive host when I asked a question or needed some help, but was completely unobtrusive even though right next door - and it was nice to know that she and her partner were close by. I wish I could have stayed longer than three nights and made better use of the well-appointed kitchen to do some cooking! I look forward to my next visit.

Peaceful and Hospitable River Cottage

One of the most gracious hosts I've had the pleasure of experiencing in the many years of staying in various places. Kristine provides a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom with all the appliances, dishware, essentials, snacks, and drinks you could possibly need. The cottage is beautiful inside and out. The location is private and quiet. The patio with the grill is perfect for grilling during the summer. There is a pond nearby with a dock for launching the canoe that is provided complimentary. The canoe is also available to use on the Delaware River. Kristine is very accommodating to ensure your visit to the cottage is enjoyable.

Perfect Getaway

The cottage is tastefully decorated. Fully stocked pantry. Terrific Kitchen appliances. Short walk to the pond and the river. Our host provided a canoe and dropped it off and picked it up after our session on the pond. The light here is magical.

Great place to bike, kayak and relax

We loved everything about this place. We were able to kayak on the Delaware River and at the state park next door. The Delaware Canal towpath was a 2-minute bike ride away. Frenchtown NJ across the river offered two parks to hike in and a variety of good restaurants. The rural setting was quiet and peaceful. The cottage was immaculate and amazingly well-stocked. We were surprised to find breakfast makings and snacks. The hosts responded immediately to any questions we had. We definitely plan to return.

Kindly Accommodating

I actually rented the cabin for my mother for NYE, obviously that can be a tricky night to accommodate. The host was extremely communicative and helpful in every way to make this evening just wonderful for my mom. The cabin and location are beautiful. The hosts have a website that helped navigate the area & meals for that night and the next day. So grateful for her help! Would definitely recommend!

About the host

Hosted by Kristine

Host profile image
The guest cottage is owned and operated by Kristine and Will, partners of 13 years. Kristine was born and raised in Bucks County. Will moved to the area from Arizona in 2004, although he was born and raised in New York. Together they purchased the property in 2007, after renting the cottage for a year, from it's original owner. They moved into the main house and quickly fell in love with the nature-like setting and local river towns.

In early 2008, Will opened an electrical business, while Kristine continued to run her own Art and Picture Framing Gallery which was once located just across the Delaware river, in Frenchtown, New Jersey. She moved the business to the property in late 2008. She's also an artist and shows her work at local galleries and festivals.

In 2018, they decided to share the guest cottage with others and soon began renovations. At the start of 2019, Kristine closed the gallery to focus on the cottage rental business but still continues to create art in her free time. When Will isn't working, he enjoys going on backpacking adventures, kayak trips, and raising honey bees. They both enjoy the outdoors, photography, living a healthy lifestyle and taking care of their two dogs and three cats.

Why they chose this property

Our property is surrounded by woods and offers a view of the neighboring lake during autumn and winter.

We also border the 'Giving Pond' which sits on a 150-acre preserved section of the Delaware Canal State Park. Its a great place to fish, kayak, picnic or just relax by the lake. Its home to a variety of amphibians (turtles, frogs, etc) and is known to be a popular destination for birdwatchers.

If you enjoy long walks (2.5 miles), the canal path will lead you to the Homestead Cafe & Roastery, where you can enjoy coffee, breakfast or lunch while sitting outside watching the ducks swim along the canal.

You can also take the canal path to Ulherstown Road and cross the bridge that delivers you into the quaint village of Frenchtown. Once you arrive, the Delaware river will provide a captivating backdrop as you spend the day exploring art galleries, gift shops, restaurants and cafes.

We're within 20 minutes of Ringing Rocks park, Lake Nockamixon and High Rocks where you can hike, kayak, mountain bike or rock climb.

The Delaware river is within walking distance and is very popular for canoeing, kayaking and tubing (we have tubes and a canoe that you can use during your stay). Paddling on the Giving Pond is also an option, if you're more comfortable on a calmer body of water.

Please note: The property sits among nature and is home to many wildlife. You may notice deer, fox, owl, hawks and if you get lucky, a soaring bald eagle.

We are also surrounded by many bodies of water (Delaware river, neighboring lake, Giving Pond and the Delaware canal), which means you may come across a few insects and possibly hear frogs during the night.

What makes this property unique

While our house is next door, we'll give you your privacy and personal space, but please reach out if you need any assistance or would like a few local recommendations. We strive to make your stay special & unforgettable.

Even though our property is very private with no visible houses to distract from the nature-like setting, we're still within 15 minutes of major roads including Route 611, Route 412, Route 413 and Route 212.

You can also reach the Northeast Extension, Route 78, Route 309 and Interstate I-95 within a 25 mile drive.

If you'd like to grab a bite to eat, you'll find options for Japanese, Mexican, Chinese, American, Vegetarian, Vegan, and Fine Dining within a 5 minute drive to Frenchtown or Milford. Both are within biking distance by way of the canal path.

If you're feeling adventurous or would like to walk back to cottage after a night at the pub, both towns can be reached in approximately 45 minutes by foot along the canal path.

Our property is within biking distance (or 5 minute drive) to Tinicum Park where you can enjoy camping, a game of disc golf or polo on Saturdays. The park is also home to the Tinicum Dog Show, Art Festival and Antique Show.
