This was our first time in the area. The property was beautiful. The hosts were so welcoming and lovely. We all had fun and enjoyed the bunnies, turkeys and deer on the property. Such a wonderful experience and we cannot wait to return!
We returned for another spring break visit 2 yrs after our first trip and enjoyed it just as much. Kids loved playing outside and seeing all the flowers, bunnies, birds and turkeys and we loved the peacefulness. The cottage was decorated for Easter which gave it a nice touch and kids loved the plastic eggs and bunny ears. Another great family retreat and already looking forward to the next one.
Staying at this place is one of a kind. A short stay will already give you so much in recharging your batteries. It is peaceful, beautiful, quiet. We enjoyed seeing all kinds of birds and bunnies and wild turkeys, as well as playing records in the evenings while playing board games or watching movies by the fireplace. The charming kitchen made me think of the simple life and daydreaming about nature and what really matters. Our 7 year old enjoyed exploring by the two ponds and around the fruit tree orchard. It is a place where we will always want to come back to when a time out and a reset is needed. Many thanks to the gracious hosts.
This was definitely one of the coolest VRBO stays we’ve had. Strolling Julian and coming back to this adorable farmhouse in the Fall was magical. Apple and chicken pot pies, wine on the porch, old records playing inside, walking around the beautiful property and playing board games in the gorgeous barn with swaying string lights at night….it was a perfect getaway. Our teen and college kid enjoyed it as much as we did. The hosts were lovely, can’t wait to go back!
Charming historic cottage in beautiful countryside setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming cottage within easy reach of Julian. The cottage is as advertised. It was peaceful and we had fun strolling around the grounds and visiting local attractions. Please note it is a renovated older property thus it retains old world charm. In particular it should be noted that there is no WiFi (thus no streaming TV). There are stand alone heaters in the rooms but no central heating. There is a splendid log burning fire that was easy to operate and made the living space toasty warm. I highly recommend this property for a family group looking to plug from the urban life for a few days of peace and quiet.
Second stay at this wonderful cottage. Between the squirrels, rabbits, deer and turkeys always some wildlife around. Very homey inside, always spotless. Did some great hikes. Would highly recommend
(1) Communication from the owner was extremely clear and made the check in/out very easy (2) The cottage is really clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was completely equipped (3) the property where it is located is perfectly maintained, we got to see wildlife wondering around (deer, rabbits, squirrels, etc) (4) it is close to Julian (about 2 mile drive) and all the amenities found there. We enjoyed our stay and will try to repeat the experience.
Great little cottage to stay in to get away from the suburbs and into nature. Daughter got to see deer, turkeys and cows for the first time and loved seeing all the birds and rabbits. My wife and I enjoyed the chilly evenings on the porch cozied up under a blanket and listening to all the critters. The county park right around the corner and Julian we're nice little day trips too. Can't wait to come back!
This cottage is so peaceful and beautiful.
Far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed coffee on the porch watching deer, turkeys, birds and more. Evenings were so quiet and made for the best sleep. Close to great hiking and the shops in Julian. So happy we found the cottage.
