Decent stay
The location is great and overall the stay was good. There were a few things that could be improved:
1) there were some lights that need new bulbs
2) the washing machine doesn’t work properly and you need to manually switch to the “rinse/spin” cycle so it will just keep washing for hours, which can ruin some clothes
3) cleanliness was good but not great. We vacuumed a few times but, as a pet friendly home, it should be mopped more thoroughly (we also mopped ourselves).
4) the trash from the previous stay wasn’t picked up and the can was full, forcing us to keep the trash in the mud room. This wasn’t a huge issue but after a few days the smell wasn’t great. We texted Vacasa to get this sorted and even after being assured someone would empty the trash can, no one came.
That said, the stay was comfortable and the kitchen was had some essentials like spices, the knives sharp (that’s always important for those who cook!), and being pet friendly was a big benefit.

Stay could have been great…
The house was exactly what we needed for a white mountain vacation for our kids and dogs. However, the Vacasa management was awful! The previous renters left trash on the patio. I had multiple text communications with Vacasa saying they were coming to clean it up, but never came. As a result, we could not use the outside area and BEARS were on the patio in the trash. Huge safety issue for us.
Also, the listing states there are 2 single beds and two double beds in second bedroom. This is not accurate. The second double is up in the loft/balcony area and is a futon. It is pretty loud if that person wants to sleep.

With six in our family, room is always hard to find. We had several sleeping options and had room to spread out. This was a great location to hikes, overlooks, trails, and waterfalls. 15-20 mins from plenty of stores, shops, restaurants, and bakeries. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed for a long weekend
The home was very clean, bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We cooked some of our meals and found everything we needed for preparing and cooking meals.

The home is lovely! Great quiet location just a short drive away from many of the local attractions.
The no A/C was not a problem at all but we really didn't have any of the hot summer days while we were out there.
A few things were a bit annoying, such as a broken casement windows that you couldn't close in one of the bedrooms; the dishwasher is old and the soap dispenser thing doesn't work properly but the worst is when the dishwasher runs, all the hot and dirty overflow comes up the kitchen sink a few times... something is wacky with the plumbing.
The entry code is super long and was a bit inconvenient to have to punch 9 numbers everytime we came back to the house.
Other than these little things, we had a great stay!
The home was as shown. We had a great stay. Our children loved the house and the unique lay out. It’s in a great area locally, as well as close to popular surrounding towns. Felt like you were in your own home. Would stay again in a heart beat.

had potential
The house itself is cute - great location but it was infested with large black ants, had an awful cat urine smell in the bedroom as well as dirty linens on the bed. The pillows smelled awful and the quilt on the bed in the main bedroom has definitely not been washed in a very long time. The bedding was so uncleanly and grotesque that we went out and spent our own money on new bedding. The smell of moth balls was so strong it gave us a headache. The old throw pillows smelled like dust. The main TV not only didn’t work but the remotes were missing batteries - we had to borrow some from the other remotes, come to find out those were missing batteries as well .. even after putting in new batteries the TV still did not work.
We were happy to be able to have our pup with us but there was absolutely NO yard or place to take your pup out, we ended up just taking her across the street in the woods to do her business since that was the only place. NO ac caused the smell of pet urine from past guests to linger. I could go on and on about all that was wrong with this place but the location and our determination to make our trip worth while didn’t let this place get us down. Highly recommend giving this place a HEAVY DUTY deep clean, as well as het an exterminator out for the infestation of ants, as well as replace all the old bedding and pillows

Cool house but would not stay again
The moment we opened the door, we were overwhelmed by the smell of carpet cleaner/deodorizer (not sure which). My husband said that the scent appeared to be an attempt to mask an odor such as underlying vomit or pet accident odor. We immediately opened all windows that had screens. Later that evening the carpet cleaner/deodorizer smell was gone but the smell of pet urine was tremendously strong. Since we have cats, we both thought it smelled similar to a litter box. The next morning we noticed that the urine smell was still there and very strong even after leaving a few windows open overnight. For the next few days we limited our time on the first floor and kept every screened window on the first floor open.
I hope the next guest do not have the same experience. We love our dog and we brought her hiking, tubing and ATV riding with us so we truly appreciate homes that allow pets.
The home is really cool and we really love the layout. We are thankful that the owners allow dogs and that there is a third floor which has a sitting room so were able to watch television but eating and working from the kitchen table was extremely unpleasant and ruined our otherwise great stay. Since we only used one bedroom and left the place very clean, we hope that gives the cleaning person(s) more time to steam clean the rug on the first floor.
I would suggest maybe tile on the entire first floor with indoor/outdoor rugs and a gate to avoid this happening again.

Cow Hill 'Haven' not so much
Rented Cow Hill ‘Haven’ in July 2022 for my family of 4 adults and a puppy. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was a musty smell that we attributed to the house being unoccupied and the hot weather. We opened some windows and left for dinner.
Came back after dinner and the house still had a mildew smell. As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed dozens of insects on the walls of the living room and bedrooms near and around the lights.
We immediately called the rental agency, VACASA , and sent them pictures of the bugs. The situation worsened as the number of bugs kept increasing as we spoke with the agency. In our opinion, the situation was unacceptable and the house was not habitable. VACASA did not have another property available near us and recommended we go to a motel.
Now, close to midnight, we left the premises and were lucky to find lodging for 4 adults and a puppy.
The next day VACASA called and, after reviewing the photos, promptly issued a refund for their portion of the cost for the rental property. VRBO has not yet issue me a refund for the remaining amount. I’m not sure why the delay since everyone is in agreement the situation was unacceptable.
VRBO said we should have contacted them but we had already called VACASA who recommended finding a motel. It was close to midnight and we were basically stranded and looking for lodging.
Neither VACASA nor VRBO would reimburse us any portion of our cost for the first night stay at our new lodgings even though they left us stranded without lodging.
As for VRBO, I am not happy with their customer service team, over 1 month later and still no refund.
VACASA should inspect their properties carefully, air them out for incoming guests and physically check that all is well. As far as I could tell they did not even remove this house from the rental schedule.
We were fortunate to find the Hilton Home 2 suites hotel in North Conway. It was clean, air-conditioned, insect-free, odor-free, dog friendly and provided breakfast. The staff was great, extremely accommodating, and the cost was only slightly higher than the VRBO rental, well worth it.
